There was a real panic on the streets of Hell's Kitchen. The mafia influence had grown rather rapidly. People were unsure now, more than ever, if it was safe to walk the streets. All because of two lone individuals who couldn't care less. One of them, many in the Kitchen were familiar with. Not by his real name, oh no... That was still very much a secret. But by the name he chose to instill power into the neighborhood. The Kingpin.
But there was another. One as equally as determined, though not nearly as persuasive. When the crimeboss known as Silvermane was killed, He seized that power and control. Unfortunatley for him, Kingpin had seized most of New York already. Now, The Kitchen seemed 'up for grabs'. And both men wanted it badly. Kingpin, and the man many only knew as Smythe.
Tonight, the final key to gaining the territory was to be put in place. But neither men would confront eachother; That's what consiglieres were for. But what they didn't count on was the figure watching from the rooftops. From the light of the
moon. He had waited for this for some time... Planning it by every detail. But tonight, unfortunatley, would prove to be full of surprises. Even for The Knight.
At a little after midnight, gunfire rang out in an alleyway behind one of Kingpin's buisness fronts. Every bystander locked themselves in their homes, and prayed that the violence would cease before one of them fell casualty to it. The Police wouldn't show... They had other affairs. Affairs they actually weren't afraid to tackle. So that only left the opposing gangs under hire by the Kingpin and Smythe. And, of course, one other individual, who watched the chaos unfold as silent as a night's breeze. He'd wait until the time was right.
Gunning down eachother's defense, the consigiliere's stepped forward, donned in sunglasses and long, black coats. They carried briefcases that were both too big for a simple handgun, yet too small for paperwork. He took note of that, as he watched the two meet face to face.
"Nice night for a walk, isn't it?", One asks the other.
"Oh, very. You could say one would
die for an evening like this.", The other responds, as coldly.
"The Kingpin sends his regards.", The other says.
"Funny. I was just about to say the same thing about Mr. Smythe.", The other states.
Both put down their briefcases, and reach into their coats, pulling out twin magnums. Both armed, both aimed straight at the other.
"Pleasure doing buisness with you.", One says.
"Likewise, indeed.", The other responds.
But before they can blow eachother's heads off, The barrels of their guns are pierced by crescent shaped razors. Both men look at the guns as if they're nothing, before realising that they're not alone. Turning, both consigliere's spot their attacker, standing above them ontop of a crate. His prescence is chilling. His stare is even worse. Both neither can find words as he speaks in his ghostly tone.
"Where are your employers?"
While Moon Knight remains focused on the situation at hand, he can't help but wonder if there's something off about this. The way they spoke. The way they look at him now. It's as if this was planned... All of it for him. But that wouldn't make any sense. Why plan something as elaborate as this? Would either Kingpin or Smythe go to the trouble?
Before either men can answer, Moon Knight's eyes widen as two bullet holes streak through their foreheads, effectively and instantly killing them. The Knight looks up, seeing a dark figure ahead, cloaked by the shadows.
"I wouldn't worry about either of them, Casper."
The figure steps forward. Moon Knight only catches a glimpse of the skulled logo that adorns the figure's chest, as he reveals himself from the darkness. Moon Knight knows this man. But his prescence here, tonight, is unexpected.
The figure raises his weapon, with it's targeting laser shining bright upon Moon Knight's chest. This complicated things, to say the least.
"I'd start worrying more about how you're gonna ammend for your own sins."
Moon Knight readied his moonblades. But before he could disarm the figure, the blades were shot in half, much to Moon Knight's surprise. This complicated things even further.
Looking up, Moon Knight looked into the eyes of this new foe. One as infamous as Kingpin... If not moreso. Defeating this man would take alot more skill... alot more cunning than Moon Knight feared that he had. He truly began to wonder if he would make it out of this alive, as the attacker aimed his weapon once more.
"Because the time has come for Punishment."
