What are they tweeting?

Rashard Mendenhall RB Steelers:

"What kind of person celebrates death? It’s amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak."

"We’ve only heard one side…"

“I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style.”

Chris Douglas Roberts, Milwaukee Bucks:

“We just looked like the Afghan people, a decade later,” he said. “That’s not what we should be doing, celebrating with beers and all that. I didn’t agree with that. That’s just me.”

“Was the search for bin Laden truly worth so many American military deaths, over so many years?"

Well, that mofo just endangered his livelyhood.

Wow. How old is this dude? Was he in diapers for 9/11 or something?

Well it's obvious that he's part of the Loose Change movement, a movement named that because the only people that believe it are homeless dudes on the corner.

I was 14 during 9/11, and not even I would say something this ridiculous.

Oh, so he's an idiot. Why does anyone care what he says? It's like the Birthers. Just ignore 'em and concentrate on what the grown folks are saying instead.

Why do athletes feel like they're allowed to have opinions?

The thing is, fine you have an opinion but sometimes you know it's better to keep that opinion to yourselves. Especially when you just sound dumb. The first quote is stupid. I never heard Hitler speak but I'm pretty sure I hate him. [/Godwin's Law]

I mean, he's questioning the fact that a plane took down a skyscraper, so I'm sure he's one of these crazy conspiracy people.

As for the other guy, I can see his point but then again, he didn't lose anyone in the 9/11 attacks or lived in the cities affected. I only saw celebrations in New York, Washington DC and some military bases.

A lot of people have heard bin Laden speak, though. He sent out plenty of video tapes post-9/11, and his views were well known pre-9/11.

I got no problem with athletes and other celebs expressing their opinions. I mean, they got a right to their s**ty opinion as much as every other *****e bag with a s**ty opinion.

However, sometimes you should know when to keep that s**t to yourself.

I didn't see the edit with the Bucks dude. Yeah, I can see his point. It is a bit crass to be utterly joyous about any death, I suppose, but the guy was effectively America's Hitler for this generation. He was the enemy of our very lifestyle, so it's understandable that people are happy about his death.

That said, it seems like most of the comments I've seen from people who were directly affected by 9/11 are much more tame. They're not the ones having beers and partying, by and large. They've mainly been saying that it's good he paid for his crimes, but it's bittersweet because his death doesn't bring anyone back. 9/11 is still a terrible burden for a lot of these people to bear whether bin Laden is alive or dead.

As for that last comment, though, bin Laden wasn't the reason we went to war. He was our #1 target, but he's certainly not the only jihadist who posed a serious threat to the US. Certainly by the time the Iraq War rolled around, at least, the War on Terror went beyond just a name and had really become the mission statement. The US has been trying to destroy or destabilize the underlying mechanisms by which anti-US terrorists thrive in the Middle East for the majority of the Afghan and Iraq Wars. It hasn't just been about bin Laden for the majority of those wars.

Pretty much what I'm saying. I can see a New Yorker or a family member of someone who died being like "**** Chris Douglas Roberts, who the **** is he to decide whether I celebrate the guy's death or not."

I love it when people are surprised that people who make a living out of playing a game say something stupid.

If you go to his Twitter account (Chris Douglas Roberts) he's like "I guess everyone forgot about the first amendment" and "Freedom of speech only applies if you agree with everyone". Freedom of speech goes both ways, say something kind of stupid, expect a response.

Yeah, I don't care that he's saying this stuff. But I'm as entitled to call him a moron for it as he is to say moronic things. :)

Hell, I bet he said that s*** at least in part just so he could play the First Amendment victim after the inevitable responses.

If you're going to run your mouth like a ******, I have the freedom to CALL you a retatd

In short, Rashard Mendenhall just went Full ******.

Indeed. CDR is more of a case of him not being smart enough to say what he really meant to say which is, he wants the troops home.

Not to me. Pale chicks are hawt. :atp:

True 'dat :hrt:

That is why I date goth girls

I never really forgave her for screwing Jothee. There's f***ing up a relationship and then there's boning your supposed love's own kid. Just... bleh. Could not look at her the same after that.

Yep that was just a **** thing to do. And pretty disturbing too. Shagging the son of your partner is just plain creepy

Well, come on, she was basically a born and bred hooker. Can't make a ho a housewife, and all that.

Speaking of awesome old Sci Fi shows, I was looking at Lexx again. Man I loved that half sex slave/worm chick. Also, the Brunningi Fight song always gets me in the mood to kill some things.

She was gorgeously hawt

That was a pretty great show from what i remember of it. Used to watch it every night on the sci fi channel

I knew a girl who thought the people who jumped from the towers survived. She was one of those hot bimbo types. She was posing in her underwear in those lad mags a few years ago

Exactly its like people expect celebrities or sports stars to say something thought provoking or profound everytime they open there mouths of something.

I expect them to keep their mouths shut. I don't really care for their opinions on anything other than if they can run the ball into the endzone, kick into the back of the net, hit it out of the park or slapshot past the goalie. Possibly dunk it as well.

They are celebrities people ask them questions so you can expect them to give answers plus this is the media age with reality tv, social networking, twitter, 24 hour news coverage, ect people are telling every in inane brain fart they have in their head to anyone that will listen
