The thing about WB is, there is nothing else going with DC other than Batman and Superman. There's no script for Flash, Green Arrow, Captain Marvel, JLA nothing. They're waiting to see what happens with GL. Instead of you know steam rolling people with DC movies, however bad they are. Gotta give it up to Marvel we're getting at least 2 Marvel movies a year, this year we're getting 3.

Yeah, DC pretty much wasted that resource. They may have had HP as their big tentpole franchise, but there's really no reason they shouldn't have been investing in those properties when even the most mediocre Marvel adaptation was pulling in decent numbers. It's like, by the time they potentially even get rolling, the craze will be dead.

Seriously, you look at Marvel and none of those movies lost money, I don't even think the two Punisher movies lost money.

Punisher War Zone and Howard The Duck are the only two Marvel movies that flopped. They both had a budget of around $35 million and made a little over $10 million (not counting DVD sales).

Punisher War Zone did have a very limited opening overseas which explains why it only made $2 million overseas. Lionsgate basically mothballed it like they did with BloodCreek.

I actually enjoyed Howard The Duck as a kid, I remember watching it in school as well. It was rather popular and has a kitsch charm about it. Punisher War Zone wasn't that aweful either its still watchable. I could name atleast 5 superhero movies worst that PWZ that still made a profit

Punisher War Zone just had nothing going for it buzz wise. Might as well been a straight to DVD movie.

Which is weird, considering it's basically what you'd want from a Punisher movie.

I prefer the 04 Punisher than the other two. I really loved Tom Jane as Punisher.

Yeah but War Zone felt more like The Punisher. I mean, The Punisher in Tampa doesn't feel right.

I like that he got so passionate about the role and everything, but the movie itself wasn't all that great to me.

True but it was a decent revenge film, I personally really loved it. After Spider-man 2 came out, Punisher 04 became my 2nd favorite Marvel film.

I felt it lacked any kind of heart, even though they tried desperately to inject it.

Personally, the things I like most about the Punisher is that, it's not really about revenge with him. Not anymore. It's that he has kinda become something else entirely. He kills because he can't stop. He kills because that's all he is. Death incarnate. I find that far more interesting. The guys out of his tree man.

True, but you know they love to tackle origin stories first. It was very much about revenge at first for Frank.

Yea, I much prefer Punisher as some crazy Vietnam Vet who has PTSD or something. Like, he was upset when his family got killed, but at the same time, kinda relieved. So he could carry on killing, carry on the war.

If they ever make another Punisher movie they should do it like that. Not just have Frank be a cliche, revenge seeking vigilante.

It's the one thing that makes him worth while. Otherwise, he'd be just another gun toting vigilante.

If theres no form of Zemo I'll be murderous.
but I really look forward to seeing Cap, from what Ive seen its pretty much going to be like Raiders, so thats an instant :hrt: from me. The sequels will be seriously weird tho, going from a light hearted adventure type WW2 film to something like Brubaker is doing will be a little jarring.

I wouldn't expect to see Zemo in this first film....maybe in future adventures

Pretty much. I've been loving Aaron's run because it delves into all that more. How him being in Vietnam effected him etc.

DC was also hamstrung with being owned by WB...they couldn't shop their properties out to different studios and maybe get a different prespective...Blade was released by New Line, Spider-Man by Sony, the Punisher films by LionsGate

I demand a fedora wearin', stock-whip and shield slingin' Cap with an 'A' on the front to remind me he's not from France...
