The Wachowskis Returning to Sci-Fi with Jupiter Ascending - Part 1

Didn't Raimi have to fight the studio to cast Michelle Williams? Who knows maybe Kunis was a studio choice. I thought Kunis was okay in Oz but I definitely would want someone fantastic like Knightley over her.
I did not know that. That seems pretty stupid in retrospect. Not only is she a fine actress in general, she killed it in the role. Kunis being a studio choice makes sense, and sounds vaguely familiar.

I think it's because Willaims is a low key indie actress and studios sometimes are well stupid about creative things.

I think Mila Kunis was intentional on the Wachowskis' part. She has big, cartoony anime eyes, and they love their anime.

Ain't that the truth. Just look at this weekend at the movies. "Seventh Son" and "Jupiter Ascending". :hehe:

One of these is not like the other. And in this case it is a trio a very strong actors and then Mila Kunis.

I didn't even like Speed Racer but I thought the casting was absolutely perfect . Jupiter Ascending? Not so much.

The movie bombed, let's just close this thread now.

Sorry Rocketman. Yes it seems the Wachowskis were going for a live action anime look...I guess.

Yeah, Susan Sarandon would've been fantastic as Jupiter. :o

Meh i didnt see it but then again the special effects powered by crayola were probably destracting me
That's fair. I am actually a big fan of the film so I understand I appreciate it in a way most clearly don't.

Speed Racer wasn't a bad film. It just didn't match the level of excitement I was hoping to get out of it.

Natalie Portman was originally cast in the Kunis role before dropping out.
They were really obsessed with getting someone from BlackSwan weren't they? I know the V for Vendetta connection but still that's amusing to me.

Considering the material, a real chance we could have ended up with a P3. A Prequel Portman Performance.

*shudders* I think you are correct sir. Maybe it's unfair to her but I don't ever want to see Portman in another Space Opera.

Is she even going to be in Thor: Ragnarok?

I would assume she would be, but considering the rumors that here and Thor break up before AoU, who knows. I'd prefer the female lead be Sif or Amora, but I still doubt it.

Since Portman isn't in AOU, maybe she won't even be in Ragnarok. Lady Sif would've been a better female lead, anyway.

Honestly I'm not trying to be mean but I never cared for the Jane character and I never thought Hemsworth and Portman had chemistry. I know a lot of people did and I'm not saying that my opinion is correct, it's just my opinion.

I agree that Sif would be a better female lead.
