"The Walking Dead" developed by Frank Darabont and AMC - Part 5

I wanna say it shows up around issue 50, maybe a few issues later. It's an incredibly powerful aspect of the series, I think.

yeah, I want to see some ****ed up human on human violence. The only thing we've really seen in that regard is Rick killing Shane. I want to see how the zombie apocalypse has ruined some people's minds.

Like the telephone, or Ben and Billy. But I want the telephone mostly for the fact that it means [blackout]Lori has to die.[/blackout]

The telephone? I don't think I've gotten there yet.

The telephone scenes in the comic brought in more depth for Rick. I really want to see it come to life.

yeah, the phone might be my favorite part of the comics. it definitely builds Rick's character a lot.

I've only gotten as far as issue 48, because the compendium is how I've read the series. I have some knowledge of what comes next, but mostly I'm trying to avoid that stuff, so I can go in fresh when volume 2 comes out.

I'm on issue 87...comics have been dragging in story line to be honest. My gut tells me we will get about 6 to 7 seasons of the show

6-7 is a good enough length. It doesn't need to be as endless as the comic seems to be.

Issue 95 started to pick back up after the last few.

Still going for the forseeable future.

dang, i thought there was an end, dont know if i would have started the show if i knew that.

its a problem I have with this genre is that there is no real ending possible.

There could be a possible ending... There are possible endings... An ending just hasn't happened yet.

Apparently Kirkman has "written" all the way up to like....320. So if that's true, we have years and years of comics ahead of us.

I'm not sure if I'm happy about that. The problem I have is essentially what happens is, Rick meets a new group of people. New group of people eventually turn on him or die.

The character development has been good, but after a while I get tired of that same cycle. However, so far it's still been interesting, but I always think it's safer for writers to have a definite idea of where to end a story, especially when it's more of a character journey and not a superhero kind of thing where the readers would be happy to follow the protagonist fighting bad guys forever. Eventually people are going to want closure with Rick and Carl.

Nice that season 3 and 4 will be at the prison/woodsbury, gives this series a chance to last a little longer past season 5.

any word on when we can expect Compendium vol. 2?

i just read the first compendium in like a day, ha ha.

Meh. Such are comics. There are plenty of comics characters that have been around for 60 years. Why are they still here? $$$.

Why is Kirkman going to continue his story well past his original themes? $$$.

I think a recent fan mail column in one of the issues said it'd be sometime this fall. I imagine it'll be fairly close to the season premiere.

Perhaps, but the compendium is a better deal.

Perhaps EVERYTHING!!! *flips table*

Sawyer is correct. Kirkman stated it in the letter hacks for #95 I think.

I don't see it ending. I just really hope he doesn't add Daryl, as people are assuming with the Something to Fear covers, and I guess Kirkman kinda' teased in an interview. I hope the show doesn't get to him to much, it's decent and everything, but I want the comic to not get....corrupted by it.

So cool things I have noticed is, in Night of the Living Dead, one of the scientist on TV last name is Grimes. Obviously the helicopter in Dawn of the Dead,
and the one that crashes near the prison, Governor says came from a local news station.

There's a few more cool connections to other zombie stuff. Pretty awesome. And as much as Kirkman says he won't reveal what caused the outbreak, I will always hope that it's a space born virus.

The telephone scenes with Rick would be a good extension on the scenes with him talking to Morgan on the walkie talkie.

Instead of talking, hoping for someone listening but is out there alive, no one is really listening and no one is alive. It's all in his head. It would be great development for Rick and could fit for this direction.

I can see Lincoln doing those scenes too.

dammit. i cant decide if i should wait for the second compendium or start buying the trades now.
