Overshadow Rick? I'll give it a half-check because for me, he way overshadowed Rick, but to others maybe he didn't.

I wonder if these people respect the rule of animal friendship. Meaning don't eat cat or dog...I know I wouldn't throw away hundred of years of friendship for ''survival''. Got birds, squirel, etc.

Of course most cats/dogs probably DIED out... .

I'd eat em if had too..but to heck with friendship how about the sheer value of dogs as a warning system for walkers, or attacks from other humans. Dogs are awesome. Cats not so much.

I'm guessing plenty of dogs and cats are still alive and well.

Has it occurred to any of them to go to a nature preserve or a national park? Not a lot of people, whole lot of animals.

Can't imagine walkers would fair very well against a grizzly bear.

I just realized WHY we have TDog there. If you don't know in the Graphic Novels of Walking Dead, there is NO TDog. There is a guy by the name of Tyreese. He has a teenage daughter.

Tyreese is a freaking BAD ASS. Former football player, loving father, and he beats Ricks ass for crossing him. Tyreese is an Alpha male. Tyreese looses his **** when his daughter goes to commit a suicide pact with her lame boyfriend, but he backs out at the last minute.
Tyreese has a fit and kills the boy...they both come back as zombies and he puts them both down. Never mind the fact that he also takes out a basketball gym filled with walkers WITH A HAMMER, BY HIMSELF.

And can't forget he gets it on with the white wimmins...

TDog is NONE of the above, he's docile, he's a caricature and bad stereotype in name and in presence.

Tyreese isn't in the story because they chose to keep Shane around until the end of the season 2. They didn't need Rick, Shane, and Tyreese.

Also Tyreese's contribution to the story was the revelation that everyone becomes a walker when they die...his daughter and her boyfriend that Tyreese murdered both came back as walkers.

Tyreese also compromised Rick's rule that the living do not kill the living when he murdered his daughter's boyfriend, he was also at odds with Rick for a bit. Again, these aspects of the story were given to Shane.

And it wouldn't make sense introduce Tyreese now either since

I can honestly say that is a very solid point. Still in all, why remove Tyreese and have TDog there as a lifeless useless figure?

If what you say is true, then they will attribute some of his characteristics to TDog...unless they just make up something for him to do.

Yeah it looks like they are trying replace the friendship storyline during the prison between Carl and Sophia with her.

Hate to be that guy. But this episode was really boring. Especially for the first episode of a new season. Them clearing out the prison got tedious fast.

Only the last 5 minutes were entertaining / interesting.
