The Walking Dead The Walking Dead Season 3 Episode 8 "Made to Suffer" Discussion Thread

Michonne continued point of not telling anyone stuff is getting slightly annoying for me. I get being guarded in the zombie apocalypse but she could atleast give Rick and co a little more info.

well i wouldn't tell rick either he is a jerk this season lol

steals her weapon
locks her in a prison cell
points a gun to her head
squeezes here bullet wound

To be fair to Daryl, he didn't have the comic counterpart like Michonne. But the early signs are that the TV Michonne is a reflection of her comic counterpart, which is amazingly layered. She's not like anything we've seen on TV. She's the Han Solo of TWD.

I think she is more like the Wolverine of the show given her personality and how lethal she is.

I could see him dying in the last season, possibly sacrificing himself to save the group. He's transformed from a truculent country boy to the hero who has everyone's back in the worst situation. It would be a fitting end.

Yeah I could see Rick and Daryl both dying in a final charge to get the group to a safe place with the hope of rebuilding.

Of course he took her weapon, handcuffed her and questioned her. She came into their camp and wouldn't say anything when asked nicely, he's hardly gonna let a complete stranger wander around the groups place with a samurai sword is he.

so dont get all mad she wont tell him anything then she has very huge trust issues then she meets another man who steal her weapon and wouldn't let her leave his premises

and treats her like crap

If she'd acted like a normal person to start with Rick wouldn't have had to be on guard with her would he? What the **** did you think he should have done? "Hey complete stranger who is carrying the baby formula our missing friends went for, please come into our inner circle with your samurai sword and tell us nothing about who you are and where you came from, I'm sure we'll all sleep just dandy!".

But that makes too much sense! Is better to have a character with extremely poor communication skills, always shows the same facial expression and creates more problems by pissing everybody off!

This version of Michonne is not that interesting nor likeable so far, even the Governor is more likeable to some people. Just because she kills with a katana I'm not going to say is all good, they have to develop the character much more.

Wait so people complain about Rick being a push over in season 2 and now he's a jerk? I absolutely love Rick's "Gives zero ****s" attitude this season. Him machete-ing Thomas in the head was the first sign of this. Even when he put the gun to the Woodbury guy's head and didn't even give him a chance and knocked him out was great. Rick is more badass in the show than he was in the comic at this point.

Yeah, it's gotten annoying. Open your damn mouth, woman!

Oh, I love Rick. I can't say that I've seen too many complaints about his character, at least not where I hang out.

And a big reason for my Rick love IS Andrew Lincoln. He's one of the most engaging actors I've seen in quite a long time. He just gives it his all.

I love THIS Rick more than I comic!Rick.

I think this mid season finale is a turning point for both The Governor character and Michonne.

Don't know why everyone is complaining about Michonne, up until now. If they're planning on keeping her around for a very long time, then i'm glad they're building her character up slowly, instead of her warming up to everyone in an ep or two.

I must say, this season has engaged me a TON more than the last 2 seasons ever did. It's been solid all throughout.

The last one is the only one I'll give you. The other three were just being smart.

I agree. She's too one-note. The Governor is a more complex and dimensional character than Michonne so far, not a more sympathetic character, but a more interesting one, at least to me.

And as for Rick, I don't think he's being a jerk, at least not without cause.

Comics Michonne wasn't exactly a peach at first either. She has walls up. When they come down, and the more we'll see her around Rick's group, people she trusts and feels like she needs, that's when things will get good.

Plus, the current stuff with Andrea only really works with Michonne being the way she has been... on the defensive, stand-offish, paranoid, giving off a "My way or the highway" attitude without ever really explaining herself, all while The Governor was really never anything but cordial to her on the surface. Between Michonne's behavior, the comfort of Woodbury and the relative charm of the Gov, it's no wonder that Andrea would want to believe this place is as good as it is on the surface.

I never liked Michonne in the comics, so I'm not very suprised that I don't like her in the show. She's just so annoying and unrealistic imo.

I started hating Rick around issue 30 in the comics, so hopefully the show doesn't follow that pattern.

She's already an outstanding character, even without showing her softer side. There will indeed be time for that later. We already got a glimpse of that with Michonne's unwillingness to leave behind her hornball friend when she was deathly ill.

The avatar of Michonne's personality can be summed up in one line by Robert Kirkman, "She's the first character to have the new world figured out". Michonne reminds me of Blade, and not simply because she wields a katana. You can see constant calculation going on in her eyes. She's always one step ahead of the worst situation and sizing up each person she meets.

As much as I've enjoyed the first two seasons of the show, Michonne has taken TWD to a new level.

Question. When the Governor was with his daughter, he started playing music and his daughter turned away and was looking at something. What was she looking at? I couldn't quite make it out.

Well said Scar, that's it in a nutshell, I totally agree.

I don't think I could ever hate Rick, no matter what he does. I love Andrew Lincoln far too much. :oldrazz:

But, I don't hate comic!Rick.
