"Gotham City Noir" RPG Application

Screenname:MST3K 4ever

Gothamite you would like to portray: Oswald Cobblepot (a-k-a: The Penguin)

Class of society: (Choose one) Rule Breaker

Resume: (Brief character biography) Oswald Cobblepot was born into an upper-class family but his short stature and "not exactly" leading-man appearance (a long pointed nose and limp that looks like a waddel) made him an outcast within his own family and in Gotham. So rejected by his own family he turns to a life of crime. He works many jobs within the Scarpachi crime family that no one else is willing to do, and he eventually grew tired of these jobs and decides the only way things will change is if he changes them. He arranges for Don Scarpachi to have an "accident" along with several of his associates and with that he takes over the crime family. Rather than keep running the crime family the way it was Cobblepot sees an opportunity to take advantage of the chaos in Gotham for his own gain.

He opens a lounge called "The Iceberg Lounge" where he puts up the facade of a legitment business man. He is actually using the lounge to conduct his true business. Where he is one of the most powerful arms dealers in the world, fences rare & stolen items, and is wealth of information about the Gotham underworld. Cobblepot goes by another name one that used to be an insult when he was a child, but now one that demands attention and repsect within the crime world of Gotham...The Penguin.

Factoids of interest: (Special attributes - IE: Weapons, attire... anything needed to be known): Oswald wears specially tailored Armani suits, has a deep and abiding love of birds, and carries two special umbrellas. One has a concealed blade the other is a firearm. He is also highly intellegent and that comes across in business dealings.

Known associates: (NPC's needed to be attached to your character) None

Three integral reasons behind choosing the character: 1. He is one of the powerful men in Gotham's underworld but doesn't try to use that card too often rather he chooses to lay low picking his spots when to use his influence. 2. He is not a physically overpowering villian but yet he can hold his own against Batman. 3. The fact that he is always one step above the law.

Please provide a brief explaination behind your character's motivations (ex: What does he/she believe in? How does he/she connect with Gotham City? What grinds your character's gears?): He is focused and driven by the need not to be defined by his nick-name or his physical appearance, but rather he is driven by his need for power and control within the underworld. He doesn't care who wins the mob wars or what a villain does, but he lets Batman and the others fight it out and when it is all over he will come in and pick the carcass clean.

Oswald sits at his desk across from Billy Holis a small-time hood.

He says, "So tell me William what can I do to aid you?"

Billy replies, "Well Pengu..." The Penguin raises his eyebrow and stares rather intensely at him Billy quickly says, "I mean Mr. Cobblepot sir," He nods and Billy says, "I am looking for an opportunity to prove I belong within the Gotham underworld, and it's no secret that you wield a great deal of power. I figure if you could help me I could help you somehow. I'd do anything you ask."

Oswald asks, "Anything?"

Billy replies, "Yes sir you name it." As he rubs a cut on his forearm that is wrapped in a peice cloth.

Oswald sees the cut and asks, "What happend to your arm?"

Billy says, "Some bike messenger clipped me on the way in here."

Oswald says, "Ahhh I see, can't be too careful with such vermin roaming our fair streets. Follow me William I do believe that I know how you can help me right here at the club in fact. You'll start off small and as you earn my trust I will give you more and more responsiblities."

They walk out of the office into the main area of the club along the edge of the aquarium.

Oswald asks, "Are you ready for your first assignment William?"

Billy repiles, "Yes sir Mr. Cobblepot you name it."

He says, "Feed my fish."

Billy replies, "Where's the food sir?"

Oswald says, "I am looking at it."

With that he uses his umbrella and shoves him into the tank. Billy tries to climb up the walls to get out but can't because the tank has sheer walls. Just then Billy's eyes grow large as he sees the bike messenger who clipped him walk up behind Cobblepot.

Oswald says, "You see William I hear everything in this city. How you were brought up on a weapons charge last night and the D.A. was willing to offer you a reduced sentence if you were able to bring me in. A foolish and ill-conceved plan young man very foolish indeed."

Billy begins treading water and then notices two sizable shark fins heading at him.

Oswald says, "As you know Sharks are attracted to the smell of blood. I do hope my two friends will not choke upon your bones. Thank you so much for feeding my fish William."

William screams as the sharks begin ripping and tearing him apart.

Oswald turns to the bike messenger and says, "Eric I want you and Phillip to make sure that the tank is cleaned up in time for the opening of business this evening, and wipe around the edge of the aquarium I would prefer no one else slip and fall in as poor William did."

Eric nods and says, "Yes Sir Mr. Cobblepot we'll have it all taken care of within two hours of opening."

Oswald nods and goes back to his office.

I think I saw the same thread you seen. I agree, you think a guy going with a killer circus clown motif might be decent at knife juggling.

Technically, yes. But I'd advise not to rush it, in doing so. The game's gotten off to a very, very good start, by all of you... I'd hate to have it jinxed because of overloading.
