The "Why So Serious? Gotham City Noir" RPG: Sign-Up/OOC Thread

Apprentice, I don't know how well Huntress would work in a BB-esque RPG, but if you can make it work, you have my blessing.

I don't see how Huntress couldn't work. Especially given that her family was murdered by the mob, which would be an ideal motivation for a vigilante in this setting. Put her in a leather costume with a crossbow, throw in some ju-jitsu lessons, and a vengeful attitude, and you've got one kickass heroine.

...

Why I've never played Huntress in an RPG is beyond me, actually.

Her family wasn't just murdered by the mob, they were mob.

****. Been awhile since I've read anything featuring her.

Alright, so I know that you guys stated in the rules that the character needs to be an established Bat-Character in the DC universe, but I was wondering if I could play the role of an upcoming character?

In TDK, there are several vigilantes who want to be like Batman, headed by "Brian" from the sides. Is it okay with you guys if I apply for Brian, or should I go for an already established canon character?

Thanks in advance.

To be safe, I'd go with a pre-established character. But that's MB, Byrd, or GL's call...

Alright. Well, I really wanted to be Brian, so I'll just wait for one of them to come online and check.

Thanks Eddie.

I say no. Maybe, if this was after TDK and we know what's done with his character. But seeing as how he's not established yet, I'll shoot this one down.

By the by, Gotham Central was not a limited series. It was an ongoing series spanning 40 issues.

Alright, I'll think of someone else.

Thanks.

Yep. It was limited in the fact that it was cut down in it's prime. 40 issues, everyone was goddamn brilliant.

"Gotham City Noir" RPG Application

Screenname: batman11

Gothamite you would like to portray: Sal Maroni

Class of society: (Choose one) Guardian, Law Enforcer, Mafia Don, Rule Breaker: Mafia Don

Resume: (Brief character biography): Sal Maroni is a very respected character in the criminal underworld. Feared by many, and loathed by most, Maroni is at the top, heading a massive empire. To the outside world of Gotham, Maroni can be seen at high society events, clubs, etc. Owner of many of Gotham's finest nightclubs, Maroni likes to spend his down time with his large amount of "ladies", entertaining himself. What does he do in his up time? Smuggle drugs, murder, fight for territory and build up his rep. as the supreme Mafia Don in Gotham City.

Factoids of interest: (Special attributes - IE: Weapons, attire... anything needed to be known): Sal Maroni is a well dressed, high society character, who likes to live life on the edge. Although very protective of his empire, he likes to "put himself out there", sometimes even doing the dirty work himself. Favoring pistols, particularly of magnum caliber, Maroni has a large arsenal of weaponry as well as countless thugs at his disposal.

Known associates: (NPC's needed to be attached to your character): Random thugs and associates, no big names.

Three integral reasons behind choosing the character:

1. Powerful and capable of having a huge impact upon the city of Gotham.
2. Interesting depth to the psych and mind of one who really "has it all".
3. A particularly dangerous and returning thorn in Batman's side.

Please provide a brief explaination behind your character's motivations (ex: What does he/she believe in? How does he/she connect with Gotham City? What grinds your character's gears?):

File Headshot: (A picture if your character, if applicable):

Please provide a small sample post, in the format you plan to portray this identity, with three paragraphs at minimum:

THUG: Sir…do you think…that the news is right? You think it was the BAT?

MARONI pulls out a pistol and points it straight into the thugs face without hesitation.

MARONI: I don’t wanna hear any nonsense about this BAT! If it was him, and if he ever...EVER dtried to disrupt my business -

Cut off by THUG.

THUG: He’d be sleepin’ with the fishes?

MARONI smacks the gun across the thug’s face.

MARONI: Don’t be so stereotypical.

We don't write in script-style 'round here. Just write it in prose - like a book.

Look at the IC thread for examples.

Sorry for the delay, Dent post going up in just a minute.

Like Eddie said, I'd stay away from script style, it throws off the pacing of the game.

Wow.

That was probably the longest post I've ever wrote in an RPG, EVER. :o

Sorry about that guys.

I copied and pasted it from a fan script I wrote and forgot to change it. My bad.

Here you go:

******************

The thug turned to Maroni and said in a whisper, "Sir…do you think…that the news is right? You think it was the BAT?"

Maroni, turning beat red, pulled out a pistol and pointed it straight into the face of the thug.

"I don’t wanna hear any nonsense about this BAT! If it was him, and if he ever, EVER tried to disrupt my business -"

"He’ll be sleepin’ with the fishes?" the Thug questioned.

Maroni, turning redder than before, smacked the pistol across the thug's face. As the thug rubbed his forehead, Maroni holstered the weapon and took a drink of his martini. He turned to the thug again as he wiped his mouth.

"Don’t be so stereotypical."

*******************

So am I Maroni, or do I still have to be formally accepted?

You still have to be accepted, but might I suggest using a separate font for when Maroni speaks?
