CD Projeckt Red The Witcher 3

Oh believe me. I've had it since launch.. And I just made Tris my gir, haha.

Yea that was a no brainier for me. I mean I was with Triss in the last game and I felt that would continue here, plus Iv never liked the way Yen treated Geralt.

Triss is definitely not for me. Honestly, she's written quite poorly, IMO. I can't even describe her personality in a few words.

As far as romances go in Witcher games... Shani, Ves, Yennefer - all are better. Yen is the most fun. Sometimes she treats you like a dog, but sometimes there are moments of tenderness and care. She's also really funny. It's never dull.

No there's nothing wrong with her writing. As for which one matches up better with Geralt is a matter of preference, but it's not due to the creators. There's far more to Triss than both Ves and Shani combined.

What exactly?

Yen just reminds me of bossy teenage girls. This one also happens to be mildly goth.

I was a Shani guy from Witcher 1 onward, annoyed the piss out of me that she wasn't in Assassins of Kings.

My issue with her, at least here, is the lack of respect she shows for Geralt. I mean she realizes he's good at what he does, but it doesn't seem like she puts all that much stock into Witchers. She came off as though she was better than Geralt and made sure Geralt knew that. I thought she looked down to Geralt, where as Triss, looked up to him. But that's what so great about this game, your ending is truly your ending and since we won't be getting any more stories with Geralt, how your game ends, is how Geralt's adventure ends.

Have you read the books? Yen and Geralt have a very specific kind of relationship, one built on love, respect and knowledge. Geralt knows how she is, and she isn't treating him as inferior. If that is how she was, Ciri wouldn't love her the way she does.

Triss has crushed on Geralt for like ever. She admires him and has a longing for him, so how she looks at him is different.

That is what made it difficult for me. I am a Triss guy because I played the games first, but once I got into the books, I understood the relationship between Yen and Geralt and why the Wild Hunt was going to be built around it, in many ways.

Heart of Stone is so great on the Shani front. The DLC is arguably the best the Witcher or any series has ever been, and the Shani "date" is a big part of that.

Iv got a couple of em, but haven't really read em. It wouldn't change my outlook on Yen though as I'm not a fan of how she talks to Geralt, in this game.

That is kind of like walking into a room with a married couple you have never met, who have been together for like 20 years and trying to interpret how they speak to each other. It is of course your right, but the nuance, the familiarity is the actuality of the relationship. Also The Last Wish mission is all kinds of beautiful imo.

I gotta say I'm having a blast with this since I lowered the difficulty. Granted I have a few people on the Twitter calling me a "wimp" and playing the game "how it's not meant to be played.." but I don't care... I've played and beaten DS3 so it's not that I can't play hard games. I just feel like the Uber medieval Jedi I feel I should be.

Well I could do that. I can read people like a 30 year CIA vet, but Im not really concerned with what kind of history they have. I don't like Yen's attitude as it comes across in this game, so whatever it is they had prior to this is of no concern to me.

LOL. Beating Dark Souls 3 was my excuse when my buddy yelled at me for playing DOOM on normal.

Are the games and books in the same continuity?

Pretty much. The games will refrence events that happened in the novels. As for how much, you'll need to ask someone whose actually read them cover to cover.

They are technically not apart of the canon I believe. However, they perfectly line up with the books, and play perfectly as the unofficial sequel trilogy to the original saga. They are brilliantly faithful. It is very much the same world, with the same characters and the same stories as the basis.

Launch Trailer:

A week away. :atp:

Ill be getting this expansion pack , but it will be a while before I can get to it. Im not even half way through the main game and have a ton of question marks to explore (probably 200 at least) and a bunch of contracts and secondary missions. And I havent played any of the other expansion yet.

Yea I won't be able to get to it until later down the road myself. I'm currently in the middle of my 3rd playthrough, this being a NG+ and I'm still about 15 levels away from being able to do Hearts of Stone. So I figure B&W will be too far above my rank to tackle it immediately. Also have the new Hitman episode dropping the same day and I'm playing Overwatch and the Division. So many games to play, so little time. What a wonderful problem to have.

I already bought it. I still have my original playthrough finale saved, so I am good to go. :atp:

I read first three books and I must say Witcher games is the most astonishing book-to-game adaptation ever. I read books and they felt exactly like the game.

Prepared my equipment for the DLC. All legendary witcher sets.

It only took me about half a year, but I finally beat the level 48 Archgriffin in The Witcher 3. It wasn't pretty, but I finally figured out a strategy using an alchemy build, hybrid oil and the Archgriffin decoction. Still considering how hard it was and that I'm level 40, I feel like I should've earned more XP. Oh well.

This is the Archgriffin that's in the Skellige Isles and it's the strongest monster I think you can encounter in the normal game, outside of that Chort that you fight if you kill too many cows.
