I'm not sure if FIFA / EA Sports are trying to show their 'hand' at responsible management of a football club, but it's one of the aspects that feels like one is 'restricted' in the game.

The game allows you to set the sway of money between spending budget for new players verses wage budget and you have a scale accordingly, I'd lessened the actual spending budget to accommodate wages above £500,000 a week so I could afford him and that was confirmed, come into the boardroom to discuss with his agent and it's stuck back at £300,000 PW, , tried again this pre-season but he's signed a new contract with Barca so that's that then.

Having earned them £200 million plus profit off the back of sales & competition winnings you'd think they'd allow it.

Haha, when I have more free time I'll play FIFA again.

And these restrictions don't have any business being in a game IMO. This is for entertainment purposes. Would be great to know what it would have been like with Messi in your team!

Having never played as Barca in Career mode nor signed him as Liverpool prior to this game, was desperate to sign him, as I'd never be able to afford a transfer fee for him.

Regarding the finances, I can see that the game wouldn't want you bankrupting yourself but I could afford it at the time, and had taken the measures to make it happen but prevented in the 'over the table' talks at last minute. (Deep breath).

In other news, more injuries, Clyne out for 7 months, Trent-Arnold out for 5 weeks, and new signing Gaya out for 6 months. So both right backs out, a key central defender in Van Djik and a LB, out injured.

New defence required, taken on a loan signing to see me through.

Jaime Vardy taken the number 10 shirt and scoring freely, going well results wise in the league & Champions League group stages, gone further in the League Cup so far from last season so that's a plus.

Am targeting Isco to bring in for January Window on a pre-contract offer.

Dominic Solanke sold to Brighton for £12.5 million.

Jordan Henderson on the transfer list, he is a 83 rated player but just don't see it myself, he's useless.

Through to League Cup semi finals / Champions League knockout stage / 1st in the league currently.

Holy ****, beat Real Madrid 13-3 in their back yard in the 1st leg, 1st Rnd knock out of the CL last night. A beautiful match

Lallana got 4, Vardy 4, Firmino 1, Gimenez 1, Goretzka 3.

One of my best games ever.

Having said that, we beat them 6-2 in the final last season, so that's them put to bed for this year too.

One could argue, with some of the scores I manage to get, realism is a concept that long left the arena t:

My record is 16, against Blackpool in the FA Cup on Fifa 13.

He is, he is with Liverpool at the start of the game, there are a few summer transfers that went through in real life that aren't in the game to begin with so one can either do them individually as part of the edit team function or there is a 'wholesale' download latest teams option. For example, Drinkwater is still at Leicester City, so before starting Career Mode, just a case of ensuring everyone is where you'd want them to be.

To be fair, I'm only on the semi-professional CPU difficulty level, it goes up to Legend I believe so I'm not on the hardest setting, on anything higher than I am at present, I'd probably struggle.

Occasionally, but being the 'control freak' I am with my 'belovered' team, I can't hack it not being at the helm of my own destiny.

He's still with me, wouldn't sell him in a million years. His pace is electrifying and his all round game is excellent. Just his hair is shorter on the FIFA model. t:

Ah right lol. I kind of like doing both. Playing as player manager on one save and then just manager on another so I can properly assess both areas.
