Garth stood inside a giant white room. The room had a sterile look to it, almost like a doctors office. Garth was surprised at his new surrounds, and began to look around when the voice returned.
Now then, we will be able to talk without any inconvenient distractions, Garth Ranzz. As you may have surmised by now, I am the Unity.
Garth said nothing, his head was still a jumble of mixed feelings and he just stared blankly into the white nothingness of the room as the voice of the Unity came from seemingly all around him.
Youre allies think of me as an enemy, an evil plague that is destroying this planet, but they are wrong. I do not bring evil with me, but peace. Order. Look, Garth Ranzz, upon the harmony I have brought to countless other worlds and civilizations. The same harmony I now bring to Earth.
Garths mind was suddenly flooded with images of hundreds of alien cultures that the Unity has brought its message of peace to. As the images flashed in his mind, Garth felt consummate peace wash over him; the very same feelings that the creatures in the images felt. The images flashed in his mind so quickly, flooding him with tranquility, that he was almost overcome by them. But, just when Garth was about to be overwhelmed, the images stopped.
You not only see the peace I offer, but feel it as well. On each and every world that I have visited, I have eradicated violence and chaos in all forms. Forever gone are the crimes and evils of each race, replaced by nothing but joy and peace.
That may be, but your peace, however tempting, has its price: Free will.
When weighed against the horrors of war and malevolence that I abolish, and the billions of lives that will be saved because of this, it is a necessary and worthwhile trade.
Garths mind spun as he felt himself agreeing with the Unitys logic. His mind was not right as all the conflicting emotions he had felt since coming to this time reared up again in their fullest. Garths knees buckled under the mental strain and he fell back into a chair that materialized out of the white nothingness of the room.
I know your pain, Garth Ranzz. Help me in my quest to bring peace to this world, and I will take your troubles away. When it is all over, I will even send you and your friends back to your own time.
Garths mind was a conflicting mess. Part of him, deep down, wanted nothing to do with this Unity. It wanted nothing more than to spit at its offer
but, that part of Garth was slowly fading away.
Since coming to this time, the Unity had slyly scanned the Legionnaires with its awesome psychic might, and, in Garth, it found the seed of insecurity buried deep within his psyche. The seed was small, but, over the time theyve been stuck in the past, the Unity has cultivated it, making it grow stronger. Now, the seed of insecurity has finally grown large enough that it has taken hold of Garths mind, making him susceptible. It was what the Unity, always looking for another pawn, was waiting for.
Y-yes, Garth stammered under his breath,
Ill
help you bring peace to the planet.
Excellent. Rise, Garth Ranzz, my new champion.
Garth rose to his feet, and was immediately bathed in a blinding white light. The light disappeared quickly, but he still had spots in his eyes. Garths vision was blurry, and his right arm was tingling, it would
his right arm was tingling?
Garth looked down at his artificial limb, forcing his vision to clear so that he could see what was wrong with it. When his vision returned to him, Garths eyes went wide as he was visually stunned.
His faux limb was no more. His arm, his real arm, had been returned to him. He was whole again.
A smile found its way to Garths face, one so large that threatened to engulf his entire head.
He was whole again.
He was whole again!
And he felt stronger too. As though his body coursed with more electrical energy than he had ever felt before.

OOC: As much as I hate to retreat under these circumstances *grinds teeth*...
IC: Rudy telepathically contacted the Unity. "Beam me up, Scotty. The escaped prisoners have been stopped. Mission accomplished."
Suddenly, a bright blue light enveloped the Parasite and teleported him back to the Unity's ship just as thousands of unified troops began to converge on the remaining heroes.
Garths joy was cut short though, as the purple monster known as the Parasite appeared in the room right across from him in a flash of bright blue light
