Actually, Bruce does have a ring stored in the cave. He "borrowed" it from Kyle.

But why would he bother using it now, when it obviously wouldn't make any difference and takes away from the character of who Batman is? It's completely random and makes no sense, unless there's a point to it in the story (?). The honor guard of the GLC had already been enslaved as if they were nothing, and they're the ones who have actually been trained in the ring's use. Why wouldn't Bruce stick to what he actually knows, or is this an extent of Batman's classic "prep-time" that has become a really bad joke over the years?

I really don't see why it matters, but Bruce has never been one to just say 'well, I can't handle this, so I'll just watch' he's more the type to do something like this so he can ensure the mission's success first-hand.

But why would he need a GL ring to do that? Why couldn't he just be at the scene as Batman? Right now, he not Batman; he's Green Lantern.

Does it really effect you that much anyway? As long as those who will be affected by it don't care, it's a moot point.

I never said that it did effect me, but it definitely effects my enjoyment of the story when I see a character that I love randomly becoming another.

And it was never a question of how he got the ring; it was a question of why bother?

EDIT: Whatever, Elseworlds, anything can happen regardless of staying true to characters, etc, etc.
