DC RPG Season V Application
Screen Name: LibrarianThorne
Character you would like to play: The Blue Beetle, Ted Kord
Powers: Genius level intellect, multi-millionaire status, and a heart three sizes too big
Group your character is aligned with (if applicable): Superbuddies
Three reasons why you have chosen that character:
1) Ted Kord represents a marked departure from all of my other characters.
2) I figure one of the best straight heroes in the DCU could help me tell stories I can't as Darkseid.
3) Bwahahaha!
Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you plan to do with the character you've chosen (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?): Ted Kord's goals will be to reunite with the old JLI crew in the wake of Darkseid's invasion, and help fund them back into the superhero business. Now, whether or not he can do so remains to be seen...
How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as possible.
Color and font you plan on using for your characters speech (Might not be applicable but it makes the roster pretty): "Oh God, not you again Booster."
Do you have an Instant Messenger? Which one, and what is your screen name? AOL, handle is LibrarianThorne
How did you find out about this game, Recruitment thread/word of post/seeing the RPG OOC/IC thread? I joined back at the end of season III.
Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in:
He sat crouched over a particularly stubborn motherboard, sequestered away in his private lab at the headquarters of Kord Industries. The smell of burning filed the air around him as he busily soddered away, sparks occasionally flying upwads. Despite the hazard, a close observer could note the tip of his tongue poking through otherwise clenched teeth. CNN was on a nearby small television set, thankfully muted, but the quiet technician's reverie was cut short as a small, plastic pink telephone rang. The sudden noise made him jump, cracking the motherboard in two. He sat stunned for a moment, then his face screwed together in an expression of rage as he hurled the now useless piece of technology against the far wall. It broke with a crackling sound, and fell to the floor in smaller pieces than it had began. Satisfied at the re-establishment of his manhood, Ted Kord answered the phone.
"Joanie, hon, sweetie, when I told you 'no calls no matter the reason', what did you think I said? 'Please, Joanie, call me whenever you have some new vacuous topic of conver-"
"Turn up CNN, Mr. Kord."
"-sation." Grumbling, he did so, and was rewarded with scenes he hadn't seen in, well, since the last time the world was ending.
"-perman has apparently been held in some sort of thrall by the alien dictator for a few minutes. Rod, is this similar to what the so-called "Dark Lanterns" exhibited earlier in the struggle?"
My God, thought Ted Kord to himself,
she even made the little finger wriggle thing.
"It would seem so, Anne. Seperately, Aquaman, Batman, Superman, Captain Atom, Wonder Woman and several Green Lanterns have been defeated. Strange blue aliens appeared to have Darkseid contained for a time, but he broke free, sources say the aliens are in some way connected to the Green Lantern Corps. For more on them, we go now to Jack Hendrix, live on the scene in-"

He reclined back in his chair, hands pressed over his face. A single thought kept running through his brilliant, if occasionally sarcastic, mind.
I've gotta get the band back together.
Wordlessly, he shut off the TV and reclined back in his chair. A hidden button underneath his desk was pressed, and a wall slid down, revealing his Blue Beetle outfit.
At that moment, Ted Kord smiled.
