No third character rule for me, either. It's unnessecary.

Careful, slightly spoilery TDK pic:

Wish I could have used this pic for that last Batman VS Joker scene. :csad:

Needs more blood and gore.

And a big-ass spaceship in ruins.

Syn, I am not against your idea of the 3 Character Rule...but you only have 1 character, and thus have 1 slot open anyway...are you having trouble deciding between 2 other characters for the second slot?

Also, yes, as I asked twy I prefer that everyone put their two cents in even if it ends up only being worth two cents. Please refrain from saying things "off the record" on one of the many instant messengers.

I say this, because ironically around the same time last night, I was conversing with some people about this very same idea: but for a different purpose before presenting it in the OOC thread.

We lack PC villains...which is strange, because while Marvel fanboys boast about how Marvel has "better villains" in some cases? True or not, that does not mean DC has "none" or "few". The way I see it, I do not think people are opposed to playing villains so much as with their first 2 character choices, there are heroes or walking the line characters they wish to play more.

The theory obviously is not solid...but the reason I was going to propose the 3 character rule is that perhaps we might gain more PC villains. :O
I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Two Face and Rose.

That's two, Trusty. Two. And one of them? A villain.

EDIT Sorry if this sounds *******ish, but I'm starting to get annoyed at people forgetting who I play. (mods, not others who don't have to be concerned with it.)

I'd say that planning is good. Rigid, inflexible planning...not so good.

Oh, yea. I know. Just, it felt as if twy was against any type if planning and I wasn't sure. I know at times I come off wrong...mainly intimidating or strongly, and I just wanted clarification. I try to emphasize when I'm doing multi-PC arcs for everyone to have wiggle room.

As for the three character idea, I'm against it. I think it's overkill in the other RPGs where it's used. I'd stick with two characters tops. And remember - it took a comparitively long time for the DC RPG to relent and even allow TWO characters per player.

I know, and I even told people how I generally do not like the 3 character thing? I just thought perhaps that would allow for more PC villains because there are just so many heroes that people prefer to play before they pick up a certain villain.

I understand what you are saying completely. But I think that with the other RPGs, aside from Marvel, is that the main issue with the 3 character rule is because of the frequent swapping/dropping of characters. With DC and Marvel, where the characters are already established I do not see the same issue is all.

I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Two Face and Rose.

That's two, Trusty. Two. And one of them? A villain.

Sorry, dude. You just recently picked up Two-Face, so I forgot.

Well, I think the only other time I forgot who you played was in OU...but that was before I signed up again this time as Hawkman. I was just doing the roster duties and I didn't obviously read the IC thread back then. :oldrazz:

But, the general consensus so far seems to be against the 3 character rule. I hope more people voice their opinions. I'm overall indifferent to what happens, I just thought some people would prefer it. Just because I do not want it, doesn't mean I wouldn't give others the chance.

One last question: Have we ever agreed on what state Metropolis is in in the RPG?

Given that the RPG follows Post-Crisis On Infinite Earths Continuity and Pre-Identity/Infinite Crisis Continuity, I'd say it's Delaware.

Thank you.

And now, my EVIL plan has been set in motion! Ha HA!

....It'll get evil. Just you wait. :o

I don't really care if there's a three character rule or not.
I've only got one character in mind for when I'm done with Brainiac, so it wouldn't really affect me.
But, if I got an idea down the road, it'd be nice to have the extra option open.

In any case, it damn sure wouldn't hurt anything to allow a third character for those deserving of the responsibility.
It'd just mean the GMs have to put more care in approving apps for third characters.

Andy, don't ever scare me like that again!

...

*realizes that with Superman gone, Connor would be the default heir to the mantle*

On second thought...

Ironically enough, after making this comment:
I can't find a second character, so it makes no difference to me. Besides, I should keep focusing on Superboy above all else. Though...a Bat-related character would be tempting considering the shifting tides in that department.
I got to thinking, and...well...just look.

DC RPG Season VI Application

Screen Name: Eddie Brock

Character you would like to play (please include the color and font you plan on using to portray the character): Batwoman
(Katherine Kane)

Powers and Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences):
Kate possesses no powers. Instead, she relies on peak levels of athleticism, a higher intellect, and a wide array of gadgetry. While she may seem outmatched in a world where men are faster than speeding bullets, these three combined attributes make her a formidable foe.

Okay, stop me if you've heard this one: wealthy socialite dresses up as a bat to fight crime. Yes, at their core, Batman and Batwoman are vastly similar - as they should be. However, they are just as different as they are the same. Kate feels she's been called to duty by the tragedy resulting from "No Man's Land." Her parents, as compassionate as Two-Face is pretty, highly disapprove of Kate's desire to help the needy. So Kate tries a different approach. Drawing from the famed Caped Crusader, Kate takes the fight for justice in Gotham to the streets as the aptly-named Batwoman.

Group your character is aligned with (if applicable):
None.

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar. One to explain what you plan to do with the character you've chosen. The other to explain why you've chosen this character. (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?):
What I plan to do and why I've chosen this character stem from the same thing: the death of Batman. With Batman gone, someone needs to step up and defend Gotham in his absence. I imagine Kate won't be the only contender to this throne, but it certainly makes explaining her motives a little easier.

Do you have an Instant Messenger? Which one, and what is your screen name?:
MSN - Mantis_05 (If you absolutely need to reach me and don't have MSN, I have old AIM and Yahoo accounts that I can use. Just ask.)

If you know how to post pictures, please provide a picture of your character you wish to be used for the Character Roster (if you do not know how, or do not have a preference, please say so and a default picture shall be picked for you):

Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least one line of dialogue):

It's late. The sky is clear. The moon is full. It's the kind of night that ghost stories thrive in. To add to the feeling, the ever-present sounds of Gotham City sound distant - almost eerily silent. The night is as promising as it is foreboding. And just like any other city, there is much action - even at this hour. One just has to know where to look. One could look in a nightclub. Or, if something a bit more exciting is up your alley, one could lurk around the docks - where the atmosphere is amplified by the sound of footsteps trudging through the gravel.

"Welcome to Gotham," one figure says to the other. The man who's speaking chews a toothpick between his teeth. His hands buried deep in the pockets of his leather coat, he continues, "It's not a bad deal we have going here. You throw enough money in the right place, keep the right people quiet, and business is good. Every now and then, you hit a bump or two."

The other man shivers slightly. "What about Batman?" he asks nervously.

The first man laughs heartily. "Urban legend, my friend," he assures his anxious associate. With a reassuring pat on the shoulder, he explains, "You have a better chance of the Loch Ness Monster giving you trouble than him." At that moment, neither man is looking up. If they were, they may have noticed a shadowy figure moving across the shipping crates. But not seeing this, the men continue to a crate at the end of the row. "Now, I'm assuming you want to see the merchandise before going any further." The second man nods. The first man reaches for the crate door, when...

CRASH!

Both men jump slightly as they turn in the direction of the noise. The second man is more visibly frightened. He's been jumpy since they got here. He must be afraid of Batman. Well, the first man was right. There's no need to fear him.

Just then, an object whizzes by the first man's face. Slicing his toothpick in half, the object pierces the metal crate. Both men look at it wide-eyed. The small metallic shape of a bat. They recognize it instantly. "Not him..."

"No," I growl, leaping down from my hidden perch. "It's not."

As for the three-character thing: If someone can handle three characters, more power to them. If they can't, then the character dropping rule applies.

Doesn't really bother me either way.

Oh, and as for the villain thing Trusty mentioned a while back--I'm playing one next season too, so yayz. :woot:

Jesus, I thought Superman was going to bite it. You really had me, Andy.

Okay, since Brainiac is finally gone (good finish, Andy :cwink:  ), I've got room to pick up a "new" character.

Screen Name: Johnny Blaze

Character you would like to play (please include the color and font you plan on using to portray the character): Mirror Master (Evan McCulloch)

Powers and Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences) If you copy/paste this information from another website, link back to it, or it is considered plagiarism and is not allowed.: Evan is just a regular Scotsman, but is a skilled hitman with training in hand-to-hand fighting. The government gave him the weapons and identity of the first Mirror Master, Sam Scudder, and tried to use him as an agent. He eventually turned on them and set out on his own, eventually joining the Rogues. McCulloch can travel through any reflective surfaces using his mirror technology and can trap people into other dimensions, some worse than Hell. He has been shown to be able to interact physically with people through their reflections (slitting the reflection’s throat is mirrored by the real person), he can turn people to glass with his gun, create life like illusions and copies of himself, and has a variety of other mirror related gadgets and weapons at his disposal.

Group your character is aligned with (if applicable): The Rogues

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar. One to explain what you plan to do with the character you've chosen. The other to explain why you've chosen this character. Heat Wave fired a blast of searing flame at the already burned Mirror Master who was writhing on the ground in pain. As the fire engulfed the downed Scot...he began to crack and melt.

Suddenly Heat Wave felt a tap on his right shoulder. Heat Wave spun around to attack, but caught a fist straight into his jaw that spun him back the way he came.

"Hullo, Alice", smiled the real McCulloch as he pulled out a glass dagger and stabbed the stunned Heat Wave in his back left shoulder.

Heat Wave cried out in pain as the glass blade dug deep. He spun around again, trying to hit McCulloch with a spinning backfist with his gun. The Mirror Master ducked the wild swing though, and caught Heat Wave with a rising shot to his throat that sent the villain stumbling backwards. As the villain clutched at his throat with both hands, McCulloch calmly strode in.

"Tsk, tsk", the Mirror Master scolded with a shake of his head.

"Ye shouldn't leave yerself open like that", stated McCulloch as he reared back his leg and kicked Heat Wave hard in the groin, lifting the man off of his feet a few inches and sending him collapsing to the ground clutching his privates.

"That's...not...fair", Heat Wave managed to say as he rolled on the ground in pain.

"Fair", exclaimed McCulloch in surprise as he kicked Heat Wave's gun away from the downed villain's reach.

"Tis no such thing as fair in'a fight, lad", chuckled McCulloch as he grabbed Heat Wave by the collar and began to punch him repeatedly in the face. Shot after shot, blow after blow, McCulloch didn't relent until Heat Wave was practically out of it, his nose busted and bloody.

"Now, ya call yerself a Rogue yet ye side with that buffoon, Dillon", stated the Mirror Master to his beaten foe.

"And ye have the gall ta walk around callin' yerself Heat Wave!"

"Mick Rory was a good friend o' mine, ya bleedin' ****"
,yelled an angry Mirror Master through gritted teeth.

"Yer not fit ta call yerself Heat Wave", screamed McCulloch as he yanked Heat Wave towards him and head-butted him hard in the nose, sending a spray of blood in every direction.

As Heat Wave groaned and fell limp, McCulloch let him go and allowed the villain to fall unceremoniously to the ground.

"Now ta see who the dead man is who was runnin' around impersonatin' me friend", stated McCulloch to himself as he reached down and ripped off the unconscious Heat Wave's mask.

McCulloch's eyes grew wide in astonishment and the Scot staggered backwards.

"What the...how...how can...", McCulloch stumbled on the words as he rose to his feet. As he stared at his fallen enemy, his eyes wide and mouth agape in disbelief, McCulloch's hand holding the mask weakened it's grip.
The mask of Heat Wave slowly fell down to land on it's owner's boot, wrapping itself snugly around it.

"How is this possible. Yer s'posed ta be dead", McCulloch said in a hushed tone as looked into the face of his foe.

It was a bloody mess, but there was not mistaking it. He had never met the man in person, but he heard Cold and the others talk about him and heard plenty of stories about his past exploits. He was one of the best, one of the originals. McCulloch owed this man a lot, for without him he would not be what he is today.

Yes, there was no mistaking his face.

McCulloch knew he couldn't kill him, not now. He had to get him back to Cold and the others. They would know what to do with him.
"C'mon, Alice", said McCulloch as he reached down and hoisted the man over his shoulder.
"We're off ta see the wizard."

Still unconscious, McCulloch's "prisoner" could not hear a word the Scot said. But, as if in reply, Sam Scudder, the first Mirror Master, groaned as the pair silently melted away into a nearby store window...
