The Wrestling Thread Has Until 5! - Part 40

1. Heel Cena

2. CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho

3. Ziggler vs. CM Punk

4. Stone Cold comes announces one more match against Punk at Wrestlemania 29

5. Tag-Team division becoming great again

I'd also like to CM Punk vs Sheamus. I'm curious to see how they gel together.

- As noted before, the December 19th RAW Supershow did a 2.92 cable rating and 4.29 million viewers with the TLC pay-per-view fallout.

In the segment breakdown, the show opened with a strong 3.36 rating, likely interest from the TLC pay-per-view. Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett lost 721,000 viewers but Beth Phoenix vs. Alicia Fox gained 277,000 viewers. Jinder Mahal vs. Sheamus lost 247,000 viewers and the John Cena promo that featured Kane and Mark Henry gained 428,000 viewers with a 3.18 quarter rating.

Epico & Primo vs. The Usos and Cody Rhodes vs. Santino Marella lost 719,000 viewers. Backstage segments with John Laurinaitis and The Bella Twins, Hornswoggle and a Big Show interview lost 56,000 viewers.

In what is a very bad sign, the overrun for the CM Punk, Daniel Bryan & Zack Ryder vs. Alberto Del Rio, The Miz & Dolph Ziggler match gained only 59,000 viewers. This is almost impossible as people tune into USA to see the next TV show. This means wrestling fans were tuning out in large numbers. Fans tuned out mostly during the first part of the match but viewership picked up some at 11pm.

The RAW six-man main event did a 2.67 rating, which might be the lowest rated RAW main event of this year.

- The November 21st RAW Supershow had 434,000 homes watching on DVR or tape delay, which was 12.1% of the viewership. The November 28th show had 316,000 homes watching on delay or 9.1% of the total viewers.

- The WWE Supershow on December 16th in Fort Myers, Florida drew 5,500 fans for $155,000. The Supershow on December 17th in Long Island, NY drew 7,000 fans for $285,000.

- Ricardo Rodriguez wrote his first Tweet since the TLC pay-per-view last night. Ricardo posted a photo of him in a neck brace and said he was finally out of the hospital.

- WWE officials have been working on some plans for the December 26th RAW Supershow from Chicago for a few months now. The hope is that WWE Champion and hometown star CM Punk will sell the show out.

It was that awful idea of all 3 running in through the crowd, it got old after the first time.

I actually liked that idea. My top five

1.Triple H puts Punk over in a WWE title match
2.Punk/Jericho
3.Punk/Ziggler
4.Christian/Bryan
5.Heel Cena

I'm in total agreement with you. It seems like the writers are trying go deeper and metaphoric in their writing as of late. Even in the 'It Begins' trailer I believe it is Jericho but the writers are trying to get you to think now (hard to believe isn't). The boy once said the girl was the key to his return and he obviously cant come back without the wwe fans caring.... yet he recently said in the last promo that he cannot help the girl anymore so if he comes as a heel he cant "save us" anymore. the boy is jericho and the girl is either the wwe, the wwe fans, or both..... its a complex metaphor for him coming back again but he will not come back to save us.

EXCELLENT analogy of the It Begins/Jericho video...........if it is indeed Jericho.

I don't see how anyone can complain right now. Since Mania 27, with the Rock coming back, this has been the best stretch of work over the course of a WWE calender year, from Mania to the next Mania, that we have had since atleast 2004. And it may be better than that. Look, we finally got The Rock back after all these years and the belief that he would never return. Then, we got CM Punk's game changing promo. Punk is now a main eventer and all but a co-number 1 guy with John Cena. Internet darling Daniel Bryn has won the world title, something never thought possible and even if he loses the title tomorrow, it still means something for Bryan and the IWC crowd. Triple H coming back but not taking over the show like he did in his prime. The first monster heel with a big fight feel in sometime with Mark Henry. Bad ass Masked Kane is back. Jericho is coming back. Zach Ryder. Guys, compared to where we were at a few years ago, I'll take this.

That's a very interesting and in depth way to look at those vids. Kinda sad that it would mean no Steph return though. :csad:

I'd also like to CM Punk vs Sheamus. I'm curious to see how they gel together.

I'd like to see the match but they are just getting Sheamus over as a face and I don't see him facing Punk as a good way to keep his face momentum going a she will lose that crowd battle.

I hope WWE don't have a knee-jerk reaction to this as it will be Ziggler, Ryder and Bryan who will be blamed as Punk has had huge numbers and even Miz has had reasonable numbers. ADR had poor segment numbers and yet has kept up top. They need to factor in that it's Christmas week and they are still developing the guys outside of Punk and Miz, the audience need to get to know the rest over a few eeks of a CONSISTENT push before they accept them in the main event. I mean what about the huge drop off for Orton/Barret? that's a match coming off a centrally featured angle.

5 things I want to see next year.

1. Cody Rhodes elevating the IC title with a high level feud with Dolph Ziggler over unifying the IC and U.S. belts.

2. Winner of that feud taking on the Undertaker in presumably his last WM match.

3. C.M. Punk feud with Wade Barrett.

4. The return of Captain Charisma. No more being people's *****.

5. Kofi vs. Daniel Bryan.

And for the love of everything good, can we finally get Macho Man in the Hall of Fame?

I hope Christian gets a decent run when he returns

Also , hell yeah to Macho in the WWE HOF.

I hope they consider the holidays and there's lots of traveling, in regards to RAWs low ratings.

Shaq is reportedly in talks for Mania. Great for publicity but terrible for whoever gets bumped off the card for this.

They've wanted Big Show/Shaq for years. I really hope with Shaq/Show and Rock/Cena that they don't see the need for HHH/Taker.It be a waste.

I'd like to see backstage interaction between Shaq and the Rock at Mania. That would be great.

Next year?

CM Punk vs Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes, Mark Henry, Dolph Ziggler...

That's it for now. Just some good wrestling would be nice.

Oh, and ROH ticket prices going DOWN for once. Come on, man, they went up twice this year alone.

Chris Jericho winning the Royal Rumble

Punk Vs. Ziggler on PPV

Cody Rhodes winning the SD MITB

Rey Mysterio Vs. Triple H

Foley Vs. Undertaker

Sheamus Vs. Barrett

Honorable mention: Brock Lesnar coming back.

Typical CM Punk hater said:
CM Punk isn't a draw.

:whatever:

Shaq vs Big Show is a good special attraction match. I too hope this means we are spared from Triple H vs Undertaker III, but I doubt that.

I bought WWE 12 on Wednesday and I have an observation..

No Rock? (To quote Ralph Wiggum)....That's unpossible.

You should of got a free code for the rock. He'll probably be like 80 pts in a few weeks or so. If not, look online. Someone has to have an extra code.

Unless you pre-ordered the people's edition, you have to download The Rock.

So..

Cena vs Rock

Taker vs TRiple h III

Big Show vs Shaq

Cm punk vs Jericho

Ryback vs Kane

Daniel Bryan vs Mark Henry

Goldust vs Cody Rhodes

Beth vs Random Diva #5

I have the code to get The Rock but my PS3 is not connected to the net so I am guessing I can't get him?

As for Shaq, I'd prefer if he is gonna be in a match that it's a tag match, maybe him and Bryan vs Show and Cody if they turn Show heel.

I'd rather Bryan not be involved with that match.
