I just think it would come down to execution. Just because there hasn't been a good Fantastic Four/X-Men crossover in the comic-books it doesn't mean a writer or director can't make a great Fantastic 4/X-Men movie.

How is that beneficial for Fox for a long term goal though? Nobody is really talking about plots, interactions or reasoning other then psylockolossus and his other dimensions idea. What story do you guys want to see that would benefit the two franchises and put them on hold? Galactus, or The Shi'ar maybe? Is there anywhere to go and build after or is it just a one shot for the sake of a crossover? There's alot of questions to how this can work and if it's actually for the better.

This would be a big move that changes both storylines in the long haul. Honestly, I'd really have thought X fans would want more story and focus for their characters. F4 is limited to 4 charactrers, so they get plenty of development time. But the X verse is vast in size with a ****load of fan favs. Only so much screen time there. That Storm, Cyc, Jean, Gambit, Rogue, Psylocke, Quicksilver, Polaris, Cable, Angel, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Blink, Kitty, Jubliee and Iceman development will only be cut shorter then it already is. That's three flicks worth of characters right there and those F4 actors won't take a small amount of screen time in a crossover.

I agree with much that is being stated above...

The only reason to do a cross-over between the X-Men and the F4 is to help the F4 movie franchise. As stated above, the X-Men movie franchise is already doing well, so this would only be for the benefit of the F4 (and for $, of course)...

As I've mentioned previously if it's the OT X-Men cast that they would be looking to do this with (which is definitive, unless it's another time travel movie or the F4 is set in the past (both bad options)) then the aging actors/actresses is an obvious issue, as I've stated above.

First, when exactly would this movie be?

In 3 years? 6 years?

The point is that the most popular actors in the OT cast are (arguably) Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, Famke Janssen and of course, Hugh jackman. Now let's be honest here... most of these are or will be too old to keep doing these roles.

Now for us fanboys we do like what Ana Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Ellen Page and Daniel Cudmore brought (I left Ben Foster out for a reason), even if the writers ruined the character (I'm thinking Rogue).

Now per the quotes given, all we really know for sure is that the F4 and the X-Men live in the same "universe". That doesn't mean there will be a cross-over at all. But, it is possible that they could take one popular X-character (or two) and put them into an F4 movie to give it a bit more buzz. Sure, they'd call it a "cross-over", even though it wouldn't truly be one.

The character I'm think of is Kitty Pryde (and maybe Iceman too - since they are connected). See, Ellen Page is young enough to pull this off and there is a story out there where the F4 were needed to help Kitty...

In the Fantastic Four versus the X-Men Kitty's powers are screwed up and she is having problems keeping the atoms of her body together.

Magneto goes to Four Freedoms Plaza to seek Reed's help and the F4 go to Muir Island to see what can be done.

Reed checks on Kitty and determines that his machine can't help her, but Magneto has read about the device and thinks he's lying. The X-Men attack the F4 over this...

Doom then contacts them and indicates that he is willing to help duplicate Reed's work and save Kitty. Reed tries to convince them not to become indebted to Doom, but Storm says that he gave them no choice.

Then there is this whole thing with Reed's journal where it indicates that he planned the whole cosmic rays thing that gave them their powers to be able to counter the impending super-villain threat.

Reed denies doing this, but the F4 don't believe him and leave.

Reed decides to go to Latveria to help save Kitty and the rest of the F4 have come to terms with things and goes with him.

The X-Men again attack the F4 since they think they are there to fight.

In the end Kitty is saved and it is determined that Doom planted the journal.

Not sure how much I liked this story, but I could see something like this being used, where Kitty's powers are messed up and Bobby brings her to the F4 to be saved. I could also see how Doom is willing to help when Reed is unwilling.

Would this be an amazing "cross-over" story? Um, nope... But maybe they could have more to the story with this "cross-over" being just a piece of it.

It would at least allow them to call it a "cross-over" and let us see some X-Men and the F4 on the big screen together...

I personally just want to see my top 2 favorite Marvel superhero teams in the big screen. I mean how cool would it be to see Wolverine/The Thing, Iceman/Human Torch, Storm/Invisible Woman, Beast/MrFantastic and even Magneto/Doctor Doom together? They just need to find or create the right story for those 2 teams to show-up in 1 movie.

And if it happens, I won't ask for sequels, like I want it to be a 1-time, big time cross-over. Like those two teams doesn't need to keep working and exist in 1 universe. Like for me, 1 is enough.

And also the possibility of what kind a big push it would do for the Fantastic Four is a big thing. It could lead to more Fantastic Four films (with the same cast), Fantastic Four would be more popular to the mainstream audience....

If it's the OT cast, which I believe makes the most sense, placing the movie in the present, some of the characters you talk about likely won't be able to be in it.

For argument sake lets say this movie was filmed in 3 years (though it's likely to be after that - if at all). Patrick Stewart would be almost 80 years old. And Ian McKellan would be a year older than Stewart. Famke Janssen would be in her mid-50's. And Halle Berry would be over 50 herself.

For some reason (double standard) Hugh Jackman pulls it off and his age doesn't seem to be as much of an issue...

The point is that I don't want the geriatric X-Men going up against these 30 year old Fantastic Four-ers.

But, I do see the appeal (especially for the studio) to have both teams in the same movie. The point is that the characters I mentioned (Kitty, Bobby, Colossus and possibly Rouge) could be in a "cross-over" movie without any problems. I guess what I'm saying is you don't need the whole X-Team in order to sell this as a cross-over. A story could easily be written that would have the younger X-Men (cast) needing to seek help from the Fantastic Four (or at least from Reed). They could even state something like "They are on a mission to the Shi'ar homeworld" when Reed asks where Professor X and some of the others are...

Personally, I still like my simple, and per canon concept of Kitty's powers are all screwy and they need to seek the help of Reed. Reed isn't willing to help them (for fear of something like causing a rift in the blah, blah, blah) and the X-Men end up fighting the F4.

I would love to see Colossus going blow for blow with Thing! It would be great to see Johnny going up against Bobby.

Hey, they could even have Rogue in the movie. And how cool would it be to see the fight between the X-Men and the Fantastic Four start and Rogue takes a direct punch from Ben? She goes crashing into some lab equipment and she just gets up, unhurt (obviously nigh invulnerable) and flies at Ben punching him across the room! That would kind of give us the Rouge us fanboys have always wanted!

Also, since this movie is likely to take place in say 2017, they could add some new X-Men to the cast. Not sure if Blink, Sunspot (was that really Sunspot???), or Warpath would work, but Biship could (at least age-wise), or other X-Men that we haven't seen yet (or haven't seen done properly yet). How about one new one (along with Colossus, Rogue, Kitty and Bobby), like Jubilee, Magik (the older brother, younger sister synergy would be interesting), or Dazzler.

The truth is I'm a bit pessimistic about this Fantastic Four movie, but, if they turned the 2nd Fantastic Four movie into a (kind of) "cross-over" story with Paquin, Ashmore, Page and Cudmore; then I'm there (even if the first F4 bombs). The marketing would be huge, since they could call it a cross-over, and it would, as psylockolussus said, be a big push for the F4 and likely make them more popular with the GA. Also, a title of "The Fantastic Four versus the X-Men", which again, is per canon, would be beyond huge!!!

We dont need Patrick and Ian on the crossover, of course they can appear too, but the movie wont be about them, so... Just taking into account the previous names, we would have 7 X-Men perfectly, and if Fox wants Alan back, he would return, same with Famke and Halle.

Just because some fans have a problem with their age doesnt mean its a problem for Singer and Fox. Its just one movie, so whatever the age of a few actors is, the two teams fighting together alone would be Epic, so thats what matter at the end of the day.

No disrespect to those FF actors, but why would the OT want to play second fiddle or have their screen time cut in half with a cast from what is looking like a marginal CBM at best. It's not exactly the same as trailing behind JLaw, Fassebender, and McAvoy. I doubt their reps would have them sign on to any cross over. If they come back, it is going to be for a guest/cameo appearance, or for a major feature film, not some kind of cross over with Trank's universe. Obviously I am of the firm belief that this banter is all hosh-posh, so take it for what it is worth.

Give the audience Hugh Jackman, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Daniel Cudmore and James Marsden all in costumes, and I bet you the audience and fans would get pretty excited, even if a few actors dont repeat.

6 original actors looking more badass than ever would get attention, whether some fans like or dont like some of them.

The crossover would occur after the second Fantastic Four movie. The first isn't out yet so calling it marginal at best is incorrect as at best it could be as good as X-Men Days of Future Past or Dawn of The Planet of The Apes

One thing they could do, if they felt they had to have Xavier and/or Magneto, is to utilize McAvoy and Fassbender, using make-up and or special effects to age them.

Yes, that would mean that Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen would be out, and yes, this would be because of their age, but it would be a way to still have some of the "main" X-Men characters.

Actually, when you think about it, just having Professor X (McAvoy with make-up and/or special effects) would give a big boost to the story and to the marketing. Personally, I still feel that a "cross-over" with Iceman, Rogue, Colossus and Kitty would be huge and give us enough, even if they are , as someone stated, the "B-Team". But if you add in McAvoy's Professor X (aged, of course), then it could be huge!

Obviously if you're gonna let the X-Men do a cross-over with another superhero team, mutants like Wolverine/Storm/Cyclops has to be there. I can see Prof X/Jean taking the backseat and just stay at the mansion while the rest work with the Fantastic 4. Thing is, just because its a cross-over, it doesn't mean all X-Men should have a big role/supporting especially the Fantastic 4 only has 4 members.

I still like my idea that some of the "main" X-Men are off planet on a mission dealing with some issue on the Shi-ar homeworld.

Keeps the needed X-Men characters to a minimum (so the fight between the X-Men and the F4 is more believeable) and prevents the need to pay all those extra salaries and gets around having to deal with 50 year old actresses and/or 80 year old actors.

Give me Kitty, Iceman, Colossus and Rogue (but now with invulnerability, strength and flight), going up against the F4, and I'm fully joy!

I've been wanting substantial for Ellen Page as Shadowcat, especially considering how much more prominent and popular she's gotten since her work in Juno and Inception, and think it's totally valid to have her as one of the leads of the X-Men if they ever crossover with the F4. That being said, if they crossover, we don't want the second stringers (not that Page or Kitty Pryde is a second stringer in any sense of the word) but I'd definitely want Stewart, McKellen, Marsden, Halle, Famke, Kelsey and Hugh involved with Ellen Page.

I could see Hugh, since his portrayal of Wolverine seems to surpass the age related concerns. Plus, if they did the X-Men versus the Fantastic Four story (like I previously wrote about) then he could be a good part of the story. Seeing him pop his (adamantium) claws and go after Reed or Ben would be pretty cool...

In some ways I hate this concept of "second stringer" X-Men. Shadowcat, Iceman, Colossus and Rogue are not what I would personally call "second stringers". Yes, they are not the original class of X-Men, but they more than hold their own. If these were the characters (and actors/actresses) we got, then I would be, and I think everyone should be, happy.

Why do you say that? Scott and Jean are two separate, individual characters, Scott should be able to appear without Jean, and she without him.
