After many years of waiting, we finally got the classic "yellow & blue" costumes with the prequel, and I think most of us would agree that they did a pretty decent job with it, so since this new trilogy start in the 60's, they still have a long journey to end with the black leather uniforms from the original trilogy.

Taking into account that the sequel will probably be set some years later than First Class, would you like to see a new version of the x-men uniform?

and if so, what kind of changes would you like?

I say keep the same uniforms.

It's just Magneto's clothes that need an upgrade. The helmet at the end was fantastic, the red military jacket not so great.

they should give magneto a better cape. use maybe leather. the material they used in first movies and at the end of first class was too loose and was just hanging. with leather they can give it more volume.
and the x-men uniforms should be sleaked more. maybe lighter material, makes easier for combat. there should be some evolution in the costumes.

Agree. Specially if the movie is set some years after First Class.

The First Class uniforms were great, for me, but would be cool to see some changes in the sequel, maybe giving each character something a bit more different and unique, like a little nod to his comic uniform.

I pretty much agree with this. I don't want them to evolve into the black suits and as cool as it was seeing Magneto looking exactly like he did in his original appearance in the comics, the suit needs a bit of work to keep it from being fairly cheesy.

none said we wanted black uniforms already, lol

They have many options to make them evolve until the final black uniform from X1.

They could even give each character some little pieces with a different colour, as a nod to the comics.

why not? they tried something new with First Class, why not to continue with that innovation?

You mean like Superman's cape in Returns?

I think the suits could use some minor tweaks. I would like for someone to want a mask just to hide their face and make them a bit more personalized.

Thunderbird could use a mask, like in the original comics

:D

one mask for one character would be really cool, definetly, at least for one scene, maybe from one of the new mutants... (one from the good side)

Masks are a huge no-go. They're not going to try to hide their identities. These suits were created and used for practical reasons. Masks aren't.

As for what I'd like to see in the sequel, well, if it takes place in the sixties or seventies, I say don't fix what's not broken. These were my favorite suits by far. Maybe a few subtle changes (like materials and different customizations.) I say, if any changes, they should be on the level of the changes between X1 and X2; not much, just cleaner lines, better proportions, design-wise, etc. But definitely keep the same basic concept, and keep the blue/yellow/black scheme. From what I know from the working script during filming - it wasn't mentioned in the final cut - Beast had actually created the suits after his split with Raven, so, one night. And you can tell because his own suit was created for his new, blue form. So, maybe the next sets
will be more advanced versions that Beast had a bit more time to work on.

EDIT: Oh, and X's! At the very least the belt buckle.

Not that I'm advocating their inclusion, but, at the end of First Class, Xavier notes anonymity will be the X-Men's first line of defense. Is wanting to conceal one's identity not a practical enough reason to wear a mask?

Hmmm, you have a good point - I guess I never thought of that. I guess I always assumed that he meant anonymity when the team is dormant; lying low at the mansion. But hundreds of people already saw the team's faces; it doesn't mean they can identify them. They can say, "oh, it's the blonde guy and the ginger!" They won't know who they are or where they come from.

Well... in the words of Cyclops to Wolverine in X1, 'What would you prefer, yellow spandex?'

Yeah... yeah, I kinda would. The FF got pretty good versions of their original costumes. Spidey, Iron Man (of course), and even Cap have all been successful in costume, masks included. So why can't the X-Men show up in the costumes we recognize. Instead they get black leather and now a version of those yellow and blue things even the New Mutants couldn't wait to get out of.

What's been lost in these movies is that at their core the X-Men are a band of outlaw mutant vigilantes saving the world time and again despite its mistrust and hatred of them. The costumes make them recognizable as individuals while still protecting their identities.

Are we really at the point that the X-Men's classic blue and yellow uniforms are no longer acceptable? It seems a bit silly to question the faithfulness of the X-Men movies and ask why the team can't show up in costumes we recognize, only to dismiss their classic, matching uniforms as "things." Those are their first uniforms, and they are more faithful and make more sense at this point in time than their later "anything goes" uniforms, so why not?

^^Yeah, I liked these uniforms. It annoyed me when Havok(?) asked "Do we have to wear these?" like there was something wrong with them. I thought they looked damn cool.

Loved the blue and yellow. Always found the black suits to be pretty boring.

I disagree with the consensus that Magneto's helmet was "awesome" though. Every last detail of his final costume was wretched, down to the bug on the front. I get that it was homage to the comic but geez it looked awful. The whole suit was oversized and goofy looking, like a kid with a last-minute hand-crafted Halloween costume. Here's hoping we get some stylish Erik in the sequel.

I thought the blue-and-yellow costumes from XMFC were terrific - best they've had in the movies so far.

And no, I still don't need to see exact replicas of the comics costumes.

My hope Is they keep the blue and Yellow costumes for the trilogy.Maybe make some adjustments for each films but keep them.

I loved the XMFC costumes! Not skintight and thin like spandex but still body-fitting and organic. Loved the details like the zippers and kneepads too, keeping it dynamic without being too busy.

I would like the Havok suit to be redesigned so the circular chest piece is woven into the fabric, not like a dinner plate stuck on the outside. The concentric circles should grow when he is building up about to blast, and the blast should be blue-white rings projected through both hands. Not red, and not a hoola-hoop dance move.

I know they're dismissing X3, but if they aren't completely, wouldn't they have to get the uniforms in the style of Beast's uniform in X3 since he says it's his "old uniform"?

I hope the costumes are still blue and yellow but I want them to update the costumes and make it look like Fantastic Four costumes (the movie version). And I want Banshee to still have the cape and I want Havok to have a better-looking disc thing at his chest.

I don't know if Professor X should have a "X-Men uniform".
