I've been speculating about that myself. I mean supposedly, according to some of the other posters here, Feige is a big fan of MJ's character. If that's true then I hope he would see to it that she's included in the movies somehow, but I to have been having my doubts. If they exclude her completely just to differentiate this new series from everything that's come before, that would absolutely suck so hard.

I have heard that there's supposed to be a party scene at the end of the movie. I'm hoping that it'll involve Michelle introducing MJ to Peter and telling Peter that she's her cousin.

It's going to be weird looking at those BTS videos if her real name isn't 'Michelle'.

Zendaya draws actually, but it would not be the first or last time a movie or a tv show used an actor's real talent.

I just had this crazy theory in my mind ^^

Imagine if Zendaya was playing an undercover agent like I've theorized before. Now what if her real name is Jessica Drew??

After Peter gets back to his homemade costume and rejects the hightech suit, Tony might want to use that same tech as a base for someone else. I mean, why throw it away right? So after her successful mission to observe and oversee Peter, Tony might want to give Michelle/Jessica a promotion of sorts. He might even want to change the suits' colors to his favorite colors red and gold/yellow...

et voilà: Spider-Woman is born!

I mean... Marvel already owns the rights to Spider-Woman I believe. So that might be their way out if Sony breaks the deal. They could go on doing movies about Spider-Woman with Zendaya, later maybe even give her the Spider-Gwen costume as a nod.

Maybe. But I'm still hoping she turns out to be the cousin of MJ.
 
Hopefully her character will be fun and bubbly. Also hopefully she will survive the events of the movie. No need to bump her off at all. Or anyone.

Unless she's being set up as a villain(ess), why hide her identity until now? LOL...

When she was cast, trades pretty much said she was being set up for a bigger role in the sequels so I think she's a lock to survive the movie
 
I still like her for, Mania...

maybe she'll cross over into the Venom movie (and get the symbiote by the end some how) lol

she can be like what Claire is to the netflix shows, and just randomly show up in all the spin off movies lol

as Mania she'll be the villain in Black Cat & Silver Sable

While I can agree with the argument to support the visual authenticity in a character such as Mary Jane Watson, the main point I am upset about is the potential changing of her characterization. I say potential because we obviously haven't seen the movie yet nor have any idea as to how they're going to include MJ in this new series of Spider-Man films.
 
Yeah, Disney Channel has a promo running now featuring Holland and her together so it's pretty obvious now.

I feel like this Zendaya chick is probably the thing I am least looking forward to in the movie.
 
A new superhero friend for Peter. Just like Steve had Bucky and Tony had Rhodey. I don't want to see this personally, but to add an other hero (probably in the sequel) would be a way to sell more toys.
 
If only the MCU had the rights to the F4 we could see Spidey have the Human Torch as his superhero bff....


but alas, we can't have everything we want
 
Honestly seeing that they apparently changed Flash's characterization so that he's not even really a bully of Peter but more of a 'friendly rival' just makes me think that the argument of her personality doesn't mean much regarding her being MJ

At least the backlash will be much larger then the handling of Flash has been if that really is the case.
 
Flash Thompson 2017 is an obnoxious nerd rival of Peter Parker. Makes sense.
