"They're Attacking Me Because I'm White!"

I haven't watched that show in years. Sometimes it was funny, like the carpooling thing and other times it was meh.

But common, this is the reason why so many people all across the board are stupidly ignorant. Why would someone constantly refer to someone's ethnic heritage right in front of their face and talk about them in the third person at the same time.

A good example: bringing a date to a family event and someone will continually refer to them as the White/Black/Asian girl or guy, and they are in earshot. Things like, "I didn't know White/Black/Asian people ate this or that." My personal favorite, "Wow, your hair is kinda curly. I thought it was just...big."

Another one I keep hearing is, "Why did Obama marry her, she's alot darker then he is?"

I don't really find humor in lazy ignorance. But making fun of the stupid of people who live their lives as drones of a particular way of thinking is friggin hilarious.

And that is what Larry is doing on Curb. Making fun of the ignorance. The character is portrayed as aloof and stupid. Its not like they glorify ignorance (That is a different Larry, Larry the Jackass...I mean Cable Guy).

At the same time though, just because some people are ignorant does not mean we can not hold civilized conversations about topics such as race. We shouldn't allow political correctness ot dominate our society. We SHOULD be able to talk about if Obama is getting a free pass from the media because of his skin color. If he is playing skin color to his advantage, etc. The same as we should talk about if Clinton got a free pass due to her name or gender. These are intelectual areas we should dive into, not shy away from.

We should be able to discuss these things, we shouldn't be made to shy away from it. I think it's a perfectly acceptable conversation to have. It's not racist to question things like that.

Yeah, I'm sure Geraldine knows about getting followed around stores while shopping and getting pulled over on Friday nights for DWB's (driving while black). Must be hard.

Race didn't even have to be brought into the issue. Surprised she didn't say, " how dare that uppidy ***". You get the picture. Sad.

Ferraro going around playing the victim is disgusting since she started this.

She didn't start anything Bronson. Her comments were spun into something that they weren't.

Geraldine Ferraro has a point, in some ways, when she says that everyone is attacking her because she's white. Charlie Rangel, an African American Congressman from New York City, said almost the exact same things she said back in January and his comments weren't thrown around like Ferraro's were at all. So she is being treated differently. Whether it has anything to do with race is beyond me, but I think that might have something to do with it.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease Ferraro.

We all know people are attacking you because you're a woman... and weak, thus becoming the perfect target for attacking.

:whatever:
