Seriously, i dont think a "KnightFall" film could be done justice in just 1 film.
Keep in mind that purely, the original storyline was really a trilogy itself composed of "Fall" "Quest" and "End"
Even barring that "Fall" itself had plenty of bases to cover and really started with "Vengeance of Bane"(a sorely underrated piece IMO)
So, just w/ KnightFall, you have to introduce Bane, even if you choose to delete main details in his backstory, you do stll have to set-up the proppers(his history as an experimented-on inmate, his desire for freedom, his intelligence and his savagery, ect.). Then you have to set up Bane in Gotham, him figuring out Wayne is Batman, several villians cameos (to believably set up Batman'ls growing and self-defeating overexhaustion and self-fatigue, you can't just run down the arkham assylum inmate escapees with minute cameos, you have to believably examine theese ecounters are having their toll on Batman), then you show Batman's recapture of theese escapes, Batman's final Battel with Bane, and Bruce's ending defeat.
Just to do all this you have at least a 3 hour epic, and you've ended with a HUGE cliffhanger. There is yet no mention of Azrael, and i think you really have to include him to do the trilogy justice. You have Bruce's mistakes in not relying on help and taking all this on himself, then you have his demented successor tarnishing the mantle, then you have Bruce re-training himself, and reclaiming the mantle in "KnightsEnd."
I know. I have the whole series. Salviated over it durrring my mispent youth when it first came out with the single issues.
It really would HAVE to be a trilogy, i think.
Film 1 would set up both Bane and Azrael, feature Batman's declining condition, the break out from Arkham, Batman's battle with the crazies, the end battle with Bane/Batman.
Film 2 would be Bruce choosing the well-meaning but seriously psychotic Valley assume his mantle, defeat Bane, subsequently get more and more neurotic and insane, actually KILLING some criminals (something i thought went underdeveloped in the original series,-the abattoir issues were way too safe) and Wayne traveling the world seeking the best doctors for his condition (i'd leave out Shondra Kinsolving, as i always had a problem with her supernatural soloution to Wayne's condition. In fact, this would be the best time to introduce Thomas Elliot as The world's most reknown brain/spine surgeon-to possibly set up Hush in a later film).
KnightsEnd would involve The re-training of Wayne (think more scenes similar to the first action scene with Bale in BB, the one with several asians) scenes of hardcore re-realising of his abilities, while AzBats become an actual threat to the law-abiding citizens of Gotham (from criminal-killer to citizen-threatening psychopath with severe neurotic breakdowns).) End Battle between Wayne and Valley. Wayne reclaims mantle.
Of course , this is all just a blueprint.
I still think other villians and characters have to be set up before this trilogy could be at it's most effective.
I see it as after Nolan's third film, a new director comes in and does a three film set, introducing other villians, with a few possible returns (joker) and at least something being done w/ a Robin idea.
THEN the 3 film set after that could be the KNIGHT Trilogy.
I know it seems like a LONG wait, but it's pertinent to effectively telling the KNIGHT story later on, imo.
