This Is How Venom Should Have Looked!

I quite liked the way Venom looked in the movie. I made this .gif and thought he looked pretty fresh. That Youtube video is way better though. That woulda been fresher!

Personally, I don't really like the design of Venom in that video. He looks more like the Hulk, and I don't like how large his jaw is. The jaw kinda makes him look ... Stupid. Literally stupid ... I can see Patrick's (from Spongebob) voice coming out of this design.

I also wasn't 100% content with Venom's character design in Spider-Man 3. The concept art for Venom was amazing, though. I don't think that the CGI work did the concept art justice, to be honest. With that said, I don't dislike the way Venom looks in Spider-Man 3 at all ... I just think that it was missing the WOW factor (especially in comparison to Sandman). The final result could have been MUCH better.

how sick is that?

Yes, that is AWESOME!!

My problem with the SM-3 Venom was that the symbiote didn't look alive. I've always loved the artwork where all the tendrils are whipping around him, like they are unstable and individually alive or something. The Sm-3 Venom just looked like a guy in a rubber suit apart from his face.

That's more of a Carnage trait than Venom, really. Venom's suit was always more of a solid piece on his body, unless it was reacting to heat or sound, or morphing onto him. Carnage always had that unstable effect, probably in part to reflect his state of mind.

Yea I suppose you are right. But what I mean is that the suit just looked like rubber. Like Eddie Brock made it himself, not a actual living entity.

I didn't have so much a problem with the look of Venom in the film, as much as I did the dialogue he didn't have...the threat he didn't pose. Eddie should have explained the power of the symbiote to Parker.

"You rejected the other. The power, the knowledge. It has survived ages, and sensed your strength and was going to share it all with you. But you rejected it. It has found a new host in Eddie Brock. The other's hatred for you matches the hatred Brock has for you. Consider us poison to you now, Spider-man...We are Venom".

But we got no explanation was of the symbiote...something like that can't be an absolute...it needs and explanation.

Also, his voice...sucked. The symbiote should have influenced it a bit.

The largest mishandling of the black suit, was its effect on Peter. He should have become more isolated, and had an extremely short fuse. Should have had himself convinced he needed no one...maybe even give us an internal monologue. The Spectacular Spider-man proved that you can keep it for kids and not TOO dark, and make it work, and work great. That version had Peter teetering on the edge of the abyss and didn't have to make him dance to keep it clean.

...if only....

There was no need to explain anything. It's become kind of cliche that supervillains have to explain themselves all the time. Peter knew what he'd done to piss off Eddie. He knew what he'd done to piss off the symbiote. Now they're together & they're trying to kill him. What's there to explain?

Yea I suppose you are right. But what I mean is that the suit just looked like rubber. Like Eddie Brock made it himself, not a actual living entity.

Keep in mind that in the comics, Peter didn't know the suit was alive until Reed told him so. And nobody else knew either. So I don't think the suit ever had an organic feel to it; rather it just seemed like some funky space-age fabric.

I found this online. The guy who did one of the statue sculpted this. I really liked his design in the movie ALOT. Pisses me off it wasn't used more or saved. =(

Just look at the eyes. Gross, but awesome.

That's just awesome.

:wow::up:

Either way, I always liked Venom in SM3. And I thought the design was well done.

Why didn't Venom actually look like that in the movie? The head statues, the toys, posters of him...they looked twenty times better than how he was in the film.

THAT is what I wanted to see in the movie.

I remember that before any trailer for SM3 came out and we were all excited...:(

You fail for using the word "fresh" and you will be lol'ed at in the community section:cmad:

I never saw that image prior to the movie coming out. But again, I'm not a big Venom fan. So I feel what they did was just fine.

No, not exactly. That bust has more details that I like more than what was in the movie.

It's really strange: to me, it seems like the character artwork possessed a viciousness that didn't come across in the movie as much as I had expected. With merchandise such as that bust, the viciousness comes across really well.

I believe the artist of Venom's character design described that he wanted the symbiote to have this "clutching" vibe: that the alien was gripping its host in a really aggressive and almost painful manner. I honestly don't think that this description came across in the movie. Perhaps it's because everything was too dark to see the details, or perhaps it was the CGI. In any case, I think that the bust looks much better than what was in the movie, and I think it looks really different.

I would've be satisfied had they gone that route, just needs a little more magic from what I call million dollar budget. However I was satisfied with the look they gave us in SM3, considering that Spidey had those webs on his suit.

Now Parker's suit was good on screen, it could have been so much more fulfilling to see the back suit from the comics instead however.

I always liked the smile of Venom. I feel like that wasn't brought over well.
The toothy grin is what made Venom so creepy.

I shouldn't reply to this, because you always think you're right, but I will say that Venom, in the film, was nothing in the way how he looked in the bust and the figures. He didn't have the long tongue as was in the figures, his spider emblem was much more dark that you could've only seen once in his glorified five minutes, and he didn't once flex as in the posters. The only time you had a chance to see his muscles was right before he got on all fours and ran after Peter(when Peter was tied up). From the look of Venom in the movie itself, it looked just like the black-suited Spider-Man unless Venom opened its mouth. Plus, the lighting was so dark, it was hard to see that "twisted version" clearly that Raimi kept talking about.
