Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 10

The increasing strength aspect of Hulk doesn't guarantee a victory as there is more to fighting than strength. Also he can be KO'd before his strength ever gets a chance to increase.

Honestly, the 'increasing strength' tends to get played up *way* too much by fans. I mean, sure, an angry Hulk is a stronger Hulk, but the idea that its some magic infinite I Win button is. . . not really supported by the comics. Most of the periods where there actually is meaningful difference in strength, are the periods where the Hulk is actually on the *weaker* side, and it basically puts him back up at Top Tier Class 100. The rest of the time, its not really that different from any other character going into a berserk rage and exerting their maximum effort: an edge, but only that.

The main thing the Hulk has going for himself, typically, is simply that he *is* a top tier Class 100 brick, with good quality regen to go with it.

Well Hulk can survive space and while it might be a temporary solution to stopping his rampage, I don't know if I would consider it winning a fight, but some might. That's what I mean there is so many variables to consider. Or what if after battling Thor flies off or Hulk goes jumping off into the horizon, did they run from the fight or were they just bored with the fight and leaving. I mean there are lots of ways to interpret things.

Surfer

Hulk needs to breath, and can't fly at all. Throwing him into space is entirely a victory.

And I like to concede that Hulk is stronger than Thor as it's okay given that Thor has other abilities.

But..... Thor does have better strength feats in the comics.

I definitely agree on super speed. For any story to work the speed gets toned down (unless of course the other characters also have same-ballpark speed).

Or if your very careful to build the circumstances and competing powers so that they work out. I mean, this is *really* hard with the Flash, since he has a vast and versatile powerset, but for a speedster who can "only" move fast, like Quicksilver? Its a *little* easier. Mostly relying on things like passive defenses or pre-activated barriers, since all the super speed in the world doesn't help if you can't hurt, or can't reach, your opponent.

She just really tosses them both out of that stream, huh? just kicks them right out of hyperspace...wow.

So much Hela kicking everyone's collective asses. :drl: I'm honestly good now, I don't need another trailer. :woot: Bring on October 24th!

Man, I'm thinking China is gonna eat this film up. There's going to be a significant bump in the world BO cume for this movie.

Yep, the Chinese marketing seems to be particularly enthusiastic which is good. I remember having a full blown argument with someone on the IMDb boards a few months ago who was insistent that Marvel Studios would ditch the whole 'Goddess of Death' angle for Hela to appease China and get a release there because they apparently hate supernatural type stuff (which is ridiculous in the first place considering the other Thor movies and Doctor Strange all did well in China), and now look where we are. Hela is pretty much front and centre in the Chinese marketing for this film so far, both in this trailer and in the poster.

That is the Bifrost laser right?

There is some alternate fantastical scenario where they are just zipping through space under their own power.

Maybe that's where Thor ends up at beginning of IW. Maybe he gets thrown into open space and the guardians find him. And Hela survives, and is a part of IW. (Blegh)

My thought was that it's perhaps how Thor and Loki gets thrown out in space and goes through a wormhole to arrive at Sakaar. I don't see it as very likely that it would be the end of the climactic fight. Both for what it would mean for the end, plus that I don't think they'd show that in a trailer.

Not to mention that Thor clearly has long hair in that scene. It's likely directly after the scene where Hela destroys Mjolnir. She chases Thor and Loki through the Bifrost and throws them out (we saw her knocking Loki out in the main trailer) and they somehow end up on Sakaar.

Ah, the new stuff is awesome!

It's exactly that. That's after mjolnir get's destroyed and they are trying to return to Asgard but in the Bifrost "beam" they get caught by Hela which ends up throwing them out of it and going herself to Asgard while the brothers end up separated but in Sakaar.

That's not the end of the movie.

My theory Thor is that Thor inherits the Odinforce and really becomes King of Asgard then i would see him using so much energy/power in a big final move that ends up taking down whoever is on the other side and himself too in the process while causing massive destruction in Asgard.

We still don't know who does Thor face when he is in Beast Mode. And what happens to Valkyrie, Hulk... We know what happens to Loki and that ties with my theory that something of massive proportions happens at the end of Ragnarok.

Speaking of his beast mode, I wonder to what he's referring in the trailer when he says that he went on a journey of self discovery. It feels like that line can't be to Hulk/Banner, which it's of course cut to seem like in the trailer, since that seems too shortly after having been defeated by Hela.

I just love the prospect of Thor becoming King. It's the natural progression of his journey. Here i think he's coming down to face Hela. Just seeing Thor holding Gungir, on the throne is so amazing... the symbolism of wielding the weapon of Odin, his father and King of Asgard. In the end he won't really need any weapon because he will be the ultimate weapon when he goes Beast Mode.

I would like to see Thor fly through space on his own accord at some point in this movie or Infinity War.
