Thor: Ragnarok The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 10

Of course I could. But I'm not gonna go reading a few pages back just to find it, hence asking you lol.
About the final trailer for Thor Ragnarok. I'm starting to doubt my own predictions that the last trailer is indeed going to be released this week or even if a 3rd trailer is going to be released at all. I had gone through and checked the marketing campaign for both Doctor Strange and Thor Ragnarok because both had similar release dates and the truth is that both the Teaser and Official Trailers for both movies did indeed follow the same trajectory.

So... what makes me doubt now that there is going to be another trailer? Well i always thought there had been a 3rd Doctor Strange Trailer because it was all over Youtube and it was named that way but apparently Marvel's own youtube channel called it a "Doctor Strange TV Spot" not Doctor Strange Trailer 3 like other channels did.

So there was no Doctor Strange Trailer 3. There was a Doctor Strange TV Spot. And there has already been a Thor Ragnarok TV Spot too. The only differences between these 2 TV Spots was the length and that the DS one was longer and was released much later on... 20 days later. While the TR one could have been made purposely for that sports event in early September and they could still release something else. I don't know. :huh:

It is a Thor movie, but if Captain America Civil War is an indication of how Marvel Studios has learned to give each character screen time without taking away from the primary, I'll take it.

Captain America: Civil War didn't feel like a Captain America movie to me, it felt like Avengers 3.

I hope Thor Ragnarok feels more like a Thor movie than that and it probably will since it only has Hulk (and Strange to an extent).

I think it will as most of the characters have more of a closer link to Thor than many of the fringe guys in Civil War had with Cap. Civil War is a MCU story as well as a Cap 3 while Ragnarok is a Thor story with a lot of characters.

The respective links don't feel that different aside from being more playful
His brother => Bucky
Hulk => Iron Man
Heimdell...is his Falcon *squinting hard on that one*
and then you got the fringe guys who he's meeting for the first time

Yeah but even the fringe guys in Ragnarok are more related to Thor's world than say Iron Man's or Cap's. The fringe guys in Civil War outside of the guys Cap is specifically close to like Bucky and Falcon are just as much everyone else's guys as they are Cap's.

Depends on how the story goes, but the trailers make it seem like this all supposed to be alien to Thor as much as he tries to mask that with his Jack Burton-esque attitude.

...says Waititi during a break from putting the final touches on Marvel's Thor sequel, his first big studio film. Harking back to the classic comic books and giving the costumes an '80s edge enabled Waititi to do "a really fresh new take on the whole franchise. That's one of the things that drew me to it [and because] Chris [Hemsworth] wanted to do something different. He wanted to move away from the version of Thor who was stoic and wasn't the most interesting element of the film. Whereas now, he is the best character. He spent a couple of years on Earth with Tony Stark and has got this colloquialism now, which is way more relatable for audiences and way more fun." Adds Brad Winderbaum, vp production and development at Marvel Studios and executive producer on the film: "We met with Taika a few times, and he had a great angle on the character. [Marvel head] Kevin Feige realized this guy could bring something special to Thor. He really wanted to highlight Chris Hemsworth as a comedic force." Waititi also appears in Thor: Ragnarok via motion-capture as a villain called Korg...

Yeah but the fringe guys in Civil War are everybody else's buddies. If Thor goes to a new world and meets new characters and enemies they are more personal to his story for the purposes of that film than if he meets Scarlet Witch, War Machine, Hawkeye and Ant Man which is what made CW seem just as much a general MCU film as a Cap film.

I guess we're approaching this differently. My idea of a closer link character-wise is pretty much the conceit of Civil War wherein outside of 3-4 characters, everyone is more than familiar with each other, since they've worked together.

Movie theatre merchandise from Thailand. The Hela figure looks beautiful.

I thought that was my point lol. I'm confused now. :funny:

That's why CW seems like a MCU event to me (as well as a Cap film) rather than Ragnarok which seems like an epic Thor film with Hulk and a bunch of new and existing characters (but not many that would be familiar to others in the MCU).

yeah, but that's not closer link to the character for me since Thor hasn't even met these guys until this movie

speaking of, I do wonder how he even came across Dr Strange.

Oh right. I wasn't saying he had a close link to these guys, just that the other guys like Iron Man don't have a link to them either so they just serve as Thor: Ragnarok film characters and nothing more for now (aside from the obvious ones). While the fringe guys like Ant Man and Hawkeye in CW are general MCU characters which is what makes that feel more like a MCU event film to me (as well as being a Cap film, and as opposed to Ragnarok).

Strange is keeping tabs on him and other beings from other realms, a watchlist lol. Have you seen the credit scene for Strange?

I thought Thor came to him
Yes. Oh do you mean how did he find him? I guess he left quite a big footprint after the events of his film!

24 days until release in the UK (ticket is booked!), so I'm expecting plenty of TV spots over the next few weeks along with actual clips on talk shows etc.

Standard fare really.

Yep. There are rumours that the UK premiere will be around 20th October (it was originally scheduled for 25th October before the release date got moved forward), I'm hoping some of the cast will do a joint interview on a talk show like Graham Norton or Jonathan Ross around that time.

speaking of, I do wonder how he even came across Dr Strange.

I imagine that will be answered in the film, in the set pictures (like the one HD posted above) Thor is seen holding the address for the New York Sanctum written on a piece of paper.

Idris looking chilled out there lol. :up:

funny that shot shows a kingsman standee when at my viewing of it last night they showed what I thouht was a thor trailer but as the thor / hulk fight was about to start; Loki's cell phone ringer went off and the grandmaster, thor and everyone else started looking around for the one holding the phone. Loki looks around trying to find a place to hide and says "I have to find a way out of this universe" It was more fun than all the trailers shown.
