If the rumor that Thor's hammer was going to be destroyed is correct... then that would actually make alot of sense.

Thor has to at some point get his hammer back. There is no other way around it.
How could he attempt to stop Ragnarok without mjolnir? There's no way...

Someone somewhere gave a plausible theory that recent set pics are actually Waititi trolling us. Newspapers are full of typos, actors are posing for pics, how did a random guy manage to get so good and readable picture of spoilery address? It would be quite mean to set our hopes up, but I can see how this could be a prank.

its not uncommon for dummy text in a film to be used for props like news papers.. where you arn't given time to really sit and read it.. its all just propping. They arn't going to waste a day of filming or create fake props just to troll people

I'm loving this flurry of set pics all of a sudden! t: Looking at all of this new stuff, I'm thinking that the long standing rumour that Mjolnir is destroyed by Hela is true, as the rumours of mortal hobo!Odin clearly are. I think she has overthrown Loki and taken control of Asgard. Thor, returning to Asgard, tries to oppose her and she beats his ass, banishes him and destroys Mjolnir. That immediately sets her up as being a real threat and forces Thor to head to earth to find Odin and some powerful help in the form of Doctor Strange. As for Odin and Loki... I don't know. Either a furious Thor is dragging Loki along with him to find Odin or, like others have speculated, Loki is following Thor without his knowledge.

I love seeing all the guys on set, but in the words of Maria Hill, where are all the ladies? I fear that they're trying to keep images of Hela and Valkyrie under wraps and we may not get a good look at Cate and Tessa in costume until the teaser trailer drops, or something like that. Those crappy, blurry far away photos of Hela don't count.

If I had to make a guess, it actually has to do with restoring Odin. After all, if Loki is with Thor, presumably this means he's not still sitting as "King" of Asgard. Consider this set of events:

1. Loki does some kind of mystic backstabbery, and incapacitates Odin

2. Loki hides Odin away on Earth, with his memories and powers locked away

3. Something Bad happens to Asgard ( say, Hela ), and Loki ends up booted off the throne

4. Thor and Loki need to recover and restore Odin

5. . . . but while Loki put Odin into his current state, without access to stuff he had in Asgard, he can't undo it

6. Call in local expert help: Stephen Strange

It's like they are walking around in a bizarre-o world, or another dimension, and not really Earth, but twisted Earth. My guess is Odin was stashed in Hel (I know, not going too far out on a limb here)

Hela comes to Asgard and snaps up Loki/Odin. Lodin. Lokin. Whatever, it's staged. Thor is banished/defeated/whatever and heads to Hel. Thor accesses it somehow. Thor meets Loki, whom he presumes dead and everything's cool. They walk around bizarre-o New York and stumble upon Hobo Odin. HobOdin. Yeah. I imagine people wouldn't be fans of Loki in New York, assuming they knew who he was. (Jane knew and where is she now?) If Thor knew he was duped by Loki he wouldn't be acting buddy buddy with him.

But Loki has been manipulating everything and ends up sending Thor through a portal at the bizarre-o world Sanctum sending him to a gladiator planet where Thor meets a champion who's said to be the strongest there is...

To make things even more confusing, it appears Hela is also in these 'New York' scenes:

There's alot of stuff we kinda now already but it's still pretty hard to put the pieces together and figure stuff out. There's so many characters and possible outcomes.

Thor / Loki / Hulk / Hela
Those have to be the ones having more screen time.

Surtur / Valkyrie / Skurge / Grandmaster / Garm*
This ones are probably the second wave.

Odin; Doctor Strange; Warriors Three; Heimdal; Sif
Cameos and small parts

*Or Fenris. I don't know much about comics but wouldn't Fenris be a bit too much when we already have Surtur? Wouldn't it make more sense to be Garm since he's like Hela's "pet".

I don't know. There's alot of stuff to take in. I really like Taika Watiti he's a reall funny guy and someone with talent so i hope he does a good job with al of this.
