TIH Sequel changes?

So, in a world with Norse gods walking the earth with atomic monsters and high-tech rocket men, Emil's mutation giving him pointed ears (which neither fish nor lizards have, if I recall) is supposed to be far-fetched? :whatever:

I always thought the ears looked lame so I'm cool with the change

Exactly, it pissed me off so much that I never got to see THE Abomination on screen, just because a director couldnt 'justify it' what a ridiculous statement.

Dude. I'm talking about the gamma bomb from TIH #1 with Rick Jones.

They can still introduce gamma bomb and have Banner save Rick Jones. But they can rewrite it as being the Leader's invention for his mad schemes.

No Leterrier if TIH2 happens?

Sounds like he doesnt want to do it!

Personally, I dont see why he is so worried about the Ang thing, I ended up liking both movies, though I like Ang's better, but its not as if fans of Ang's movie didnt go to see TIH.

Thor is a god to begin with. Emil Blonsky had no fish or lizard elements when he became The Abomination. And yes, the ears look like something from a fish (like a fin) or a lizard. Not to forget, the scales. Think a little. :whatever:

they said that they didnt look good not that they didnt make sense. at least this is the interview i have read.
if this is true i respect their opinion. afterall they are the artist and the movie is for the masses.

if they would say that it doesnt make sense then it would really be strange since its a movie about hulk.

Yeah, I'm kinda shocked about that. Afterall, it appeared to me that he was really in to what he, Norton and Marvel were doing with the character. At least he likes working with Marvel. And who knows, if the money is right, he might do TIH2 if they asked him since he is under contract. Nevertheless, TIH will not die without him. I really liked what he did with the character, but changing Bruce Banner again will hurt more than changing a director.

Where does it say anything about not wanting to do TIH2? This is really a good sign.

I met Gale Ann Hurd at a producer conference in Los Angeles not long ago and she mentioned the plan to move forward with a sequel to your film “The Incredible Hulk.” Is that something you would be doing?

LL: Well, so far, no. I am contracted to do one more film with Marvel so when I’m done here with this I will go back to say to them, “Guys you need me? Is there something I can do?”

This doesn't sound like I don't want to do it. I also like his idea of an Avengers summer. Wonder where that idea came from? Hmmmmmmmmmm

The only real change I would want is for the Hulk to be able to jump again.

^He says, "Well, so far, no." When asked if he would be doing it, thats sounds like a no to me.

There's a difference between "far-fetched" and "does not freakin' follow from anything previously established".

Just imagine if in Spider-Man 4, Curt Connors is bitten by a radioactive spider and turns into the Lizard. I think more than a few eyebrows would be raised, not because it's "far-fetched", but because it doesn't make sense in the light of what we know.

Hmm To me it sounds like he hasn't been asked yet. He sounds real excited about working with Marvel. We'll see.

I think like Norton, Leterrier wants some reassurances from Marvel. And I think you are right that he hasn't been asked yet but he was asked to do Thor but he turned it down.

I also like his comment about him directing Captain America. Funny guy.

But his Avengers summer idea would be awesome and not too complicated if you think about it.

It could be like the serials they use to have back in the 30's & 40's with the Lone Ranger and Superman. Clifhangers. Keep em coming back. Sure it would be complicated but could be done and would pretty much insure Marvel owning the summer.

When did that happen? As far as Hulk, I think the next time we'll see Hulk (after Avengers) will be a Vs. movie or a Defenders movie. Going to be a long time me thinks.

Said this in the other thread, but I think the idea would work best for a Civil War adaptation. Maybe a 3-4 part big budget mini-series. Obviously you can't release all the films in the same summer, maybe like 6-8 months apart, or like LOTR, once a year. I am thinking you can do it with maybe a 3/4 of a billion dollar budget... so money won't be the slightest factor :hehe:. Maybe get Fox/Sony to chip in some money. If every studio is involved I can't see how the film would underperform.

If you look at the original article in the LA times:

GB: Were you happy with the Hulk movie?
LL: Hulk was such a challenge. It was to reboot something and follow [the Ang Lee-directed 2003 “Hulk”] movie that was absolutely adored by part of the fan population and then absolutely hated by another part. It was complicated for me. I wasn’t sure what to do with that history. I did my Hulk but it was not easy. If I do another Hulk film it will always be compared to the Ang Lee thing, and my first one … if I come back I’d love to do another superhero, something different that I can really put my touch on.

When did that happen?

Again, in the original article:

GB: Well do a bit of daydreaming; which characters would appeal to you most?
LL: Well frankly I’d love to do the Avengers. But there are so many great ones in the Marvel world. I would have loved to have done “Iron Man,” that is an amazing character. And it’s all because of Kevin – finding Jon [Favreau, the director] to do that movie, there were people that were surprised. They asked, “Why Jon?” And look at the result. I talked to Marvel about “Thor” at one point but I didn’t want to do Thor. It wasn’t something I read growing up, really, it wasn’t one of the books I loved. Now the new stuff, the [J. Michael] Straczynski stuff, that is great. But before you get to that you have to go back to the old stuff, the genesis and that’s not what I wanted to do. Captain America I love and that would be great but, c’mon, a Frenchman doing Captain America? They would burn my passport.

Why would LL worry about Ang Lee's hulk...just seems dumb they would give him restrictions.

Another reason I want the gamma bomb introduced is it serves as a symbol for the chaos that Hulk and other gamma creatures bring. The Leader could see himself as Prometheus giving fire to Man. But when all these forces clash it results in a horrific catatstrophe. We've seen Hulk's origin and his heroic rise. But his power is too fearful to be accepted.

On the subject of abomination looking more lizard like, the only thing I would do, is darken his skin and make it look severely dry and thick almost to point of it looking scale like.
