TIH Sequel changes?

I thought Sarg posted an old article, but it's dated today. I guess digital spy is posting old news.

yeah, we arent getting a sequel.

yeah, we arent getting a sequel.

After seeing Avatar, I'm finally convinced a real Hulk movie is possible. The Hulk's problem has always been technology wasn't up to bringing him to the screen properly. (That and Hollywood's weird idea that the Hulk can't speak)

It may be a while, but the technology is there now and eventually someone is going to do it right.

At this point I'd say hold off on a sequel(though if we did get one I'd still see it). We're gonna(should) have Banner/Hulk show up in the Avengers and he could show up in some other films down the road as well. Then in a decade or so when enough time has passed Marvel should use that Avatar technology to rebuild the Hulk movies from the ground up. Only this time it's time to say goodbye to ALL influence from the old TV show(just like BB got rid of it for Batman). A fully 100% comic book inspired adaption that is every bit as respectful to the Hulk's comic history as oh say, Iron Man was to that fanchise's comic history. I'm talking full gamma bomb, Rick Jones, Ross, Talbot, Betty, Bruce as a nuclear physicist and Hulk being an entire persona who talks and gives us the entire Jeckyll & Hyde experience that ALL live action adaptions so far have been lacking. Hell, the Hulk should possibly have more lines in the damn movie than anyone else. And use the same actor who plays Banner to do all the work with that Avatar-helmet rig for the Hulk as well as doing his lines. That way the whole Banner/Hulk performance is owned by that one actor, rather than the piecemeal stuff we've gotten so far. And respect Peter David's fleshing out of the backstory as well as the comic book interpretations of the villains and their backstories. Obviously some updating will be necessary(Iron Man had that too) but it should be used sparingly and smart.

But Nolan's Batman movies still kept some influiences; the black armoured suit created by Burton and the Joker's clown mask from the TV series. And it's not like BB and TDK didn't have some huge differences from comic books.

I would love a TIH sequel but I don't think it'll happen. Hopefully Norton comes back for Avengers

And TIH was as respectful to the comics as Iron Man was, imo. Sure, Ross' and Banner's motivations about the Hulk were changed, but Stane's motivations were changed for Iron Man, too. To expect no changes from the comics and a direct translation is silly. I'm happy with what we got. TIH's biggest issue was pacing, it just needed a few of these deleted scenes left in.

You're right about there being differences, but then Batman in the comics has always had a rather ambiguous past/origin as far as I know(batfans feel free to correct me if I am wrong on that). The only things that have remained the same is the whole parents murder as a catalyst to Bruce Wayne doing all the work he ended up doing to become Batman. But they never definitively nailed down what all that stuff was in specific canon. It's all generalities with Batman. And the armored suit was not from the TV show. I don't recall any clown mask in the TV show either(wasn't Romero just in make-up?) but even if so, it probably existed in the comics as well. Either way, it's an extremely minor point since it was onscreen for all of 2-3 minutes. And the differences in Nolan's Batman, like with Iron Man all pretty much make sense. I can't say the same thing for all 3 live action versions of the Hulk.

Same here. I would not mind him joining Favs, Branagh & Johnston as a producer or executive producer so he can maintain input. The guy really does know how to do action. But the Avengers needs more than just action(though the action better be badass like nobody's business).

What action? According to the dvd extras, the people who did CGI came up with most of the action -- like the Hulk vs Abomination fights.

Ok, he allows a good amount of action in his films(CotT looks to follow this trait). My point is that he could speak well to that element of the Avengers film whereas guys like Branagh & Favs know a bit more than him about the whole character development aspect.

I seem to recall several chase scenes that had no CG at all.

Also: Avatar, shmavatar. There were two Hulk movies and they both looked great.

According to interviews and the commentary if I remember correctly, Letterier and Norton came up with at least most of the final fight in an office which "mainly consisted of [Letterier] hitting Edward with a rope."

Also Letterier could potentially bring a sweet-ass Avengers movie and he's very enthusiastic and serious about it, which is refreshing to see in a director of superhero movies, who are usually cocky about it and more business. It could be lackluster as well, but if they announced him as director I wouldn't mind a bit.

I could see Marvel hiring Louis but it really depends on how Clash does/is received

Not sold on LL directing it. COT looks more of the same. Hope I am wrong.

I think he's a great action director. Clash of the Titans looks pretty awesome in my opinion. Not sure it will be, but it looks awesome.

I'm not sold on him directing either, but I think having his input as a producer would be good to have.

Avengers just can't be popcorn stuff. It needs a killer script and solid story. Something along the lines of the first Transformers, even without the cheese, is unacceptable.

Avengers will be bankable, no matter what.

I said back in 2008 that I could see him end up with the Avengers job cause Favs had to do IM2 still. Perhaps I got that one right.

I think LL would do a good job with it. TIH is underrated IMO, and he has an eye for action. Since the styles of VERY different characters need to be merged into one film, I think he'd be the best of the Marvel directors at doing that specifically. Perhaps not the strongest story guy of the bunch, but I think if you handed him a good script, he'd make a great movie. All about the script. Plus, he clearly wants to do it.

When MTV News previously spoke with "Incredible Hulk" director Louis Leterrier, he expressed some concerns about rumors that Bruce Banner's brutish alter ego could be the villain in Marvel's superhero team-up film, "The Avengers." However, the biggest question mark involving the green goliath could be the return of the film's star, Edward Norton.

While Norton has said he likes the idea of Hulk being the threat that unites Iron Man, Thor and Captain America, he's been far less vocal about the likelihood that he'll reprise his role as Bruce Banner.

That's why, when we had the chance to chat with Leterrier about Hulk's big-screen future, we had to ask his opinion on what it would take to bring Norton back for another adventure as Bruce Banner.

"It depends," Leterrier told MTV News. "It's not a Marvel/Edward thing, it would be really be about, well... We told the story of the fugitive, what's the next step in the story?"

"It can't just be 'Don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry,'" he explained. "That would be a problem if you do the same thing over and over again. Edward's never done the same movie twice, so I don't think he would do that."

So now that we know what won't bring Norton back, what about the sort of movie that will see Norton returning to the Marvel movie-verse?

"If you find something interesting — yeah, I'm sure he would [be back]," said Leterrier. "He's a fanboy. He's as big a fanboy as you and me, maybe even more."

However, Leterrier said he wasn't exactly optimistic about getting the chance to make another "Hulk" movie — so a return in "Avengers" could be the next time we'll see the character.

"The box office [for 'Incredible Hulk'] was great, but it wasn't so big that you had to make a sequel," he said.
