I was kinda disappointed with this one...it was no means bad but I really couldn't get into it.

Wow. This movie just did not do it for me. I know I expected Burton to give a more serious take on Alice in Wonderland, though I didn't expect the film to take itself THIS seriously. With source material like Alice in Wonderland you really can't go past Shrek levels of a serious tone without losing the attention of your target audience. Though as for losing the audience goes, it didn't help that Mia Wasikowska was sleep walking through the entire thing. And Depp? Oh god were there actually some people who said he'd play a good Joker a while back in the Dark Knight thread? Well he probably could to be honest. He probably could play a good Mad Hatter too. Yet for some reason he could not bring to life that mad wacky nature that makes the Hatter mad. He was written way too seriously. Not sure why the dormouse was so energetic either; contrary to his character. But the final nail in the coffin for this movie with me was that it was boring. Most of the jokes meant to be funny were unfunny. The scenes meant to spark emotion, did not. In fact, I just could not care what happened to anybody by the end of the film due to the characters being so uninteresting and under developed. To sum up; it seemed like this film thought it could get away with being completely uninteresting simply because it's called Alice in Wonderland and has characters that try to barely mimic the ones from Alice in Wonderland in it.

I agree with the majority of this, i really did not care for any of the characters, i really didnt like Depp as the Hatter aswell, i am a huge Depp fan but i didnt like him in this film, he seemed to be unkowingly imitating past performaces. Alice was appaling, my favourite part of the film was the flasbacks to the young Alice, but i love the original book too much, probably my problem with the film. But i did enjoy the 3D once again, i was skeptical about 3D at first but now when i watch films i think how they could be in 3D, Sleeping Beauty is a good example, i saw it last night and thought what a good 3D cinema experience it would be.

Alice In Wonderland.

5/10

i love Depp normally but I felt like he was trying too hard in this one. I do like the actress who played Alice though. I've heard she's great in other movies so...

I thought Carter and Hathaway were the best, even if the latter is barely in it. They (along with the Chesire Cat) steal the show.

I too thought that Carter was great. Johnny Depp was very meh.

actually I think the weakest CGI character(s) were the twins. They looked unfinished.

also, Crispin Glover's character had awkward animation. Otherwise, the other characters looked great.

Meant their characters and performance given by the voice actors/actresses.

I was at blockbuster and i overheard someone that saw this explaining that it was a remake to a friedn . I wanted to shout "SEQUEL" but then i thought about it. Is this a direct sequel to the cartoon in terms of continuity because I don't remember the cartoon , never seen the live versions , and I know Johnny's version of Hatter has to be different.

It's not connected to the original cartoon per se, it's rather a loosely-based sequel that takes place about 13 years after the original story.

I enjoyed it but, as an Alice in Wonderland film I don't like it. I didn't mind it been a pseudo-sequel, I thought that was quite a good way to go about it but I don't like how they turned it into some sort of Labyrinth/Narnia-esque quest story...

I've, regrettably, never read the book but I grew up re-watching the disney animated Alice so many times, I guess I expected something a bit more like that..

Matt Lucas could have been good as Tweedle-Dee and Dum but I don't like how they were done. I didn't like the portrayal of the Hatter either, I don't know what was with the random scottish moments. But, like I said, growing up on the animated Alice, I wanted a Hatter and characters more in keeping with that. I thought that Mia was alright as Alice but for me though, the best bits of the film were the March Hare and the Cheshire Cat.

I really wanted to love this movie but something was off to me. here is a list of my complaints:

-most of the time couldnt understand what depp was saying
-didnt get the smoking caterpillar
-the story wasnt very tight in my eyes, kind felt like everyone was just strolling through the story
-too many moments that didnt make sense, like the hatter is captured for saying death to the queen and the next scene he's making hats for her
-the ending was too corny for my taste, I felt like the only people able to enjoy the ending were mothers and daughters
-too many scenes that served to only take up screen time, like alice getting smaller then taller then smaller agian to eventually get through the door, could have chopped off 5 minutes right there

5.5/10

Just saw it and thought it was ok. But didnt enjoy it as much as I hoped I would. It was to serious and half the charecters just were to serious and not fun enough. Plus Wonderland (as already said by basically everyone, Underland was a stupid change) was to gloomy. The beginning of the movie was ok along with Alices reentrance to Wonderland but after that just not that great. Liked that we had a flashback to the "1st Alice".

So I just saw it and I enjoyed it more than I would. The only odd things for me was the [blackout]dance of Hatter.[/blackout]
It didn't feel out of place, more that it was just done too modern-day for my liking.

I liked this movie but only for 2 reasons, and two reasons only.

1.Chesire Cat
2.Mad Hatter

Thats it, everyone else was ok......White Queen is hot though.....and that god damn rabbit (i think its the March Hare) is one crazy SOB. :hehe:

Good visuals, could´ve been a bit better. 3D was ok.

so yeah. 8/10

This movie rubbed me the wrong way for the most part..

I liked the trailers, though!

-The Karate Kid
3D trailers:
-Despicable Me
-How to Train Your Dragon
-Legend of the Guardians
-Toy Story 3
-Tron Legacy

I'll admit the Karate kid is not looking as horrible as i expected it to be and yet thought should still be called The Kung Fu kid.

Why should it be Kung Fu Kid? Is he doing kung fu in the trailer, or you just don't like remakes? I thought it looked pretty good.

And Legend of the Guardians looked incredibly dumb. Good CGI, but the dialouge sounded so corny.

Yeah they explicitly say it is Kung-fu in the trailer (as it is in China) but it is called The Karate Kid, which is lame.

The four trailers I got, The Karate Kid, How to Train Your Dragon, the Sorcessor's Apprentice and the Guardians looked bad.

But that's just my opinion.

Don't misplace your confusion over the movie's title on the basis of one line in the trailer. The film's title will have more meaning in the actual movie.

Watched it. Good visuals, characters, but the story wasn't really engaging.
