i saw a sneak peak of this film.
i can say the editing of this version was pretty awful, they focused more on Depp's footage and characters that seemed to be the main focus disappeared, things seemed out of place, didn't make sense or were unbelievable in terms of characters falling in love.
my friend told me a lot about the original series. the series may have been cheesy but it was shot live he was telling me. And that Barnabus didn't show up till the show was nearly cancelled which made the show even more popular.
Everything that he told me that seemed pretty Great was all changed in the film.
I feel like the writer of the film didn't even watch the show. And if Depp was such a huge fan why would he just cave in and do what Burton wants? He seemed to sleepwalk through the role with out staying true to the character of the show.
They cut out a heck of a lot of character qualities and things they did in the show.
to me they watered it down into a bland incoherent mess. But that was just the edit I sat through.
the characters, sets costumes all look great but I feel like Burton is becoming more of a designer than director.
its like his passed films had soo much character that you knew who the characters were, there was a solid story, character development and build ups setups all that in passed films. It seems like he lost that along the way.
i think the studio is really worried about this film from the questionare that was handed out. they don't know what kind of film it should be and it showed in this edit.
whoever he is working with that does the screenplays for his films are awful.
