Tim Roth talks UP "The Incredible Hulk"!!!

If you say so. I think you are wrong and have no idea what you're talking about. I don't even thing you know the character. If you knew the character, at all, than you wouldn’t blindly except what you’re being feed. You wouldn’t except “it can’t be done” without it having been tried. You would know that talking is part of his character. It makes him who and what he is. A misunderstood anti-hero. It’s kinda hard to be misunderstood without saying something. Optimus Prime and Megatron talked during their fight. If Optimus Primes voice would have been different from the cartoon, would you have hated the movie more ? I’m glad you don’t think it’s necessary for the Hulk to talk. Good for you. One of the biggest complaints with Angs movie was the lack of character interaction. The fact that he was 15 feet tall and didn’t talk attributed to that.

I'm not being fed anything and I do know the character. I might not have read as much as some of you but I know the character just fine. However...this is another interpretation of the character for film. This isn't the comic book.

Also I loved Ang's interpretation of the character as well. It was different...probably too different for most people and it turned them off.

Sure you're being feed. It seems to me that whatever Frenchy and Ed are saying and doing is perfectely fine with you. If the said "Yeah, the Hulk's going to talk and talk like he did in the comics" what would you think? You'd be fine with that as well I suspect. We're not being fanboys as you like to put it. We're standing up for something. The first movie let us down. We don't want a repete and we're saying something about it. We would like to see our favorite character given a little respect. A mute ****** is what he was called in Angs movie. This movie is following in the same foot steps.

^ I'm watching what's put on screen and hope for the best just like most everyone else here. As far as I can tell you're not making these films nor do you have any participation in making them.

And you are? What has that got to do with voicing your opinion?

The Batman from the comics has been changed for the movies. Just look at the Joker. You cannot say they stayed true to the comics.
That's a great example. Just look how inferior that movie was to the Batman of the comics. Batman Begins got the closest...and it should come as no surprise that is the best Batman movie. :word:

99.99999% of the moviegoes going to see a Hulk movie dont' really give a crap if The Hulk talks. They are going to see the action & destruction on the big screen. The Hulk talking might make a few fanboys pitch a tent in the dark movie theatre...not me.
They don't care? Sweet...sounds like having the Hulk talk wouldn't hurt anything. ;)

The problem with the Hulk talking on film is everyone has their own idea of how he would talk. In the comics you kind of play it out in your head. You're not forced into one particular voice. I'm sure he will talk but the less the better. If he doesn't I'd be happy. The voice of a character's gotta be perfect or forget it. It could ruin the package...it was needed with characters like Silver Surfer, Batman, Spidey...it's not really needed here to any great degree.
The things you say about the Hulk here apply to every other character you named...and they weren't all mute because it would be too risky to find the right voice.

The Hulk isn't a mute. If you make him a mute, you change what the character is. Every time he is portrayed that way, he is a lifeless monster who is either a special effect or a 5 minute break used to set up the next scene with "David" Banner. (Just the fact that the idea of a mute Hulk was invented by the same people that thought they had to name him "David" should be a huge clue that they don't know what they are doing.)

WOW. Good point

WOW. Good point
Here is something funny I just saw posted on another board that applies I think. :)

"Hello. We are studio executives. New things confuse and frighten us, much like Frozen Caveman Lawyer. Wasn't that great? Our research told us that people loved that sketch. Anyway, we are scared of your 'original thoughts' and your 'unseen stories'. They are risks, and risks are the worst thing in the entire universe. In school, they taught us to examine uncharted expectations and study possible outcomes - and we HATE doing that! After all, we've got all these charts from a few years ago that we could still use, and as we all know, the world doesn't ever change. And if it does, you can be sure we'll figure that out three years after the fact.

You kids all still like Hootie and the Blowfish, right? Great!"

EB, do you know the difference between those characters and the Hulk? They are all monsters. The Hulk is not. :oldrazz: :woot: The Hulk should talk.
My point although it was a stretch was that those movies still were classics with a non-speaking character. I just don't want them to throw in any voice and ruin this movie. If it is not done right, everybody will kill it and the movie will suffer as a whole. The whole movie could be awesome, but if the voice isnt right, bam! Dead.

I agree. He does speak, but just a couple of things. Now, I'm not saying what exactly either based on the revised script. You guys have to wait and see it.

LL did say that it would be hard to have the Hulk talking but they would see what would happen.

I think they tried it but it didn't work so they went for the safer option without him talking at all.

But, I am involved in the process and based on what everyone wants, they will get in doses. Listen, the Hulk won't speak until a certain point in the movie. If u read the script, you will understand why. It reaches a breaking point before he speaks out of recognition. His mind in the movie is extremely clouded when he's the Hulk. CJ, re-read the script and draw the conclusion. Look at it this way, if I don't like someone, I don't speak to that person. Get the point? I may just be aggressive towards them, but may not say anything. Betty is a different story. READ THE SCRIPT. I hope I clarified it somewhat. BTW, we are trying to put out the best entertainment possible, give us some credit. Thank u.

EB I do not doubt that. I know that you guys want the best. I'm just saying, based on what *cough Someone cough* told me, that if there's a chance that Frenchy or Ed read these boards or the Hulkmovie.com boards that maybe they'll see that people do want to hear him speak. I know what you're saying about the draft. No there really isn't much room for him to talk except two or three scenes. I just dread the thought of him looking at the camera with a What the DUHHH look on his face and grunt. Egads :wow:

Thanks for that. Makes the Hulkvision and the Hulk's one line a lot clearer. I understand why Hulk didn't talk to Betty in the cave now.

I'm sure they will have Hulk talking more in the sequel.

I wasn't responding to you. I was responding to the guy right above me. :)

Because you're suggesting I'm being fed. LOL Everyone in the audience is being fed if you want to put it that way.

Exactely. I didn't mean it as a put down. Everyone is being fed. Some are not excepting everything that is being fed to them. See :yay:

Not accepting? What are they gonna do about it...boycott the film? LOL We had our chance and most everyone here gave their input to Louis before he started filming. Nothing is being fed to anyone here. The script was leaked onto the net...you guys shouldn't even be reading it or looking at it if you're gonna turn around and claim you're being fed something. Marvel owns these characters and seems to be doing a damn fine job of making a "NEW" Hulk franchise out of this character. I'm confident in that, and their job so far on Iron Man. I'm going to the movie to be entertained and have a chance to see another (different) Hulk film. I'm happy about that. I would never expect a major studio who knows more about this character than I ever will, and is pumping a 150+ million into this project, to change it's target demographic from a Worldwide audience to that of a handful of fans who get pissed at any deviation from the source. The risk is on Marvel & it's investors. I'm all for the Hulk speaking a little bit but I'd rather have his actions do the talking.

Accepting. That's right. DOH! No, no one is going to boycott the movie. I still have hope that it will turn out good. In not accepting, I mean I'm not going to say "I'm ok with it." I think Frenchy and Marvel would like to know what "that of a handful of fans" think of what they're doing. Frenchy has been here and who knows who else has been. If enough people don't accept it, maybe there's a chance something might be done about it. Maybe they'll say, "Ya know, he should talk a little bit." From what I gather, if there is a sequel, he will talk more in it.
