Tim has updated his blog..he talks a little about being over budget and abou the Fantasticar...he says "This car is the coolest thing I've ever seen."

Sounds like we are getting the Fantasticar folks.

Sounds great but this line troubled me so early in the shoot...

"(Translation: I'm over budget and something's gotta go)"

Anybody have a comic book image of the Fantasticar?

SOUNDS SICK!!! I always pictured the fantasticar ina movie, as a white batmobile from batman forever

They haven't even started shooting and they are over budget already. Does that mean they are trying to do to much or is Fox being cheap instead of giving Story the money to make the best movie possible. Sony gave Sam Raimi what he needed for Spiderman, Peter Jackson never hears about being over budget. So how about it Rupert, I think you can sink a few more millions into F4, your heirs won't starve.

Your right. I hope Story was using a little humor there. If it is over budget allread, and they have not started shooting, my only comment is WTF ? I mean they start shooting in what, 8 days ? As for the Fantacicar, sounds cool. :)

The bond movie car was actually from For Your Eyes Only.

A film can go over-budget before filming when the money-people calculate how much it'll cost to bring everything in the script to life, plus calculating locations, special effects and costs of everything else early on. Sort of like how they had to cut Beast/ the Danger Room from X1 (and even X2) cause they knew before actual filming, that it would make the budget go over.

The good thing with Fox is that after months of shooting, if something more is needed that will really help the film even more, and they're happy with what they see, then they usually cough up some extra dough.

Looking forward to the fantastic car!

I hope so. I wonder if he made that comment very deliberately so that we would complain to Fox and tell them to cough up the money.

Does anyone have any good e-mail addresses at Fox that we could flood?

Indeed. I heard that Fox can now no longer afford to recreate the Surfer's board, and will be giving him a Hang Glider instead.

Henceforth, the movie shall be known as Fantastic Four And The Silver Hang Glider.

I highly doubt it, Tim has edited the entry since it was posted on here. As for the budget, I know they gave an extra 20mil or something like that at a later stage in the first films production, they just like to see whether or not a) it is really needed and b) how the film is looking before they start just throwing ridiculous amounts of money at it.

Fox has alot of money, Rupert had said awhile ago he was not leaving much to his kids, they would have to earn like he did. Come on pony up so we can have a movie equal to Spiderman.

Maybe like this?!

I don't know about you guys, but the happier Tim Story gets about FF2, the more worried I become. Chris Columbus should have this film, or Spielberg, hell Tim Burton would have been a better choice.

This is what he say's now:

(Translation: I'm over budget and something's gotta go...don't worry. We've got enough.)

Oh yeah, Chris Columbus would have been a great choice! In a 1998 interview, the guy described the Thing as "covered in blue fur."
That's just the kind of intimate familiarity with the characters this franchise needs. Sheesh!

I heard the board is fine it's the silver that's just too costly to reproduce. I'm hearing Fantastic Four and the Bronze Surfer...with the Bronze Surfer being just some very tan alien surfer.

I'm also hearing that Herbie will indeed replace Johnny again because that flame effect eats budget like crazy. Herbie will simply be a talking George Foreman grill who has a secret crush on Sue. Machines learning emotions always please the sci-fi crowd and it give Alba yet another love interest. This is cost effective AND brilliant.
