Tim Story MySpace Blog updated

This finally puts to rest that nonsense about Julian McMahon only doing a voiceover.
The new mask for Doom is awesome. There's a more evil tone to it. I've been working on a maquette of the entire Doom look, complete with armor with my friends at Spectral Motion (the guys who brought you Thing, Beast, Juggernaut, Hellboy, etc...) The look is madd cool. I think you guys will like it. And don't worry Julian will be seen. I talked to him yesterday and he can't wait to get busy.

Well here we are. Exactly two weeks til this all gets under way. Seeing a lot of stuff now.

The latest test of Chiklis' new thing makeup is looking good. I think I told you guys about how we were improving the suit. For one it's lighter and will allow Chikie to be more athletic. I know many of you wish the Thing could've been more agile, well you got it. Michael's excited. We've made improvements to areas like the brow. Yes yes, it's a little bigger. You guys have to remember the brow can't be too big because it just doesn't look as good as you might think, but we have improved it. This all came from the fans saying they wish it were bigger. He'll be wearing more clothes as well. Now that he's comfortable with himself, we can have more fun with his appearance. Wait until you see him in his tux.

The Silver Surfer's look just continues to get better. We're trying test on the wake that his board will leave and we're starting to really get into the look of his eyes. Classic Surfer looks from the comic. I think you will all enjoy it. Yes, now the question that I keep getting asked too many times...Doug Jones or no Doug Jones. Here's the low down. Doug has been working on a number of things regarding the Surfer. In order for the presence of the CGI SS to appear and move real, we need someone to perfect movement and provide a base, to which WETA can do their thing. That the jest of it. I don't know what that confirms for you guys but there you go.

Oh yeah, I didn't tell you guys the result of my "studio meetings". Well it wasn't as painful as I thought it was going to be. We found places to cut and not mess with the integrity of the movie. Both sides were happy. 6 hrs ya'll...6! Stuck in a room - dissecting every piece of this movie. The coolest thing was actually the difficulty in finding things to cut. That normally means you need what you got. For the aspiring directors and writers - if you cut it out and find that you don't miss it...you never needed it.

As filming begins, I'll try to share on set pix. I can't get to crazy but whatever I can I will. And for those of you expecting me to pop up on Superherohype, forgive me, I just didn't think that I could keep up with two different blog areas. My days are swamped as you can imagine.

I'm out.

Well, I am just loving Tim Story and his blogs:

Such great news! The Thing is going to have his brow...walking around in tuxedos like in the comics. The Surfer is going to have his classic look!

Also, more confirmation that Doom will be in armor and his "new" mask...I hope it doesn't deviate from the first movie too much because that was one of things they got right. This idea of Julian being seen more scares me because i don't want Doom taken off his mask casually. The only reason I could see his mask coming off other than in battle is if he absorbs the Power Cosmic from the Surfer and fixes his face....

PURE AWESOMENESS!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best part being that WETA will do the sfx for silver surfer and The Thing will get a brow. Dr. Doom is looking like it will be a kickass villain.
I think Tim Story will make a film that will satisfy both the fans of the comic book and general audience.

BUT what concerns me the most is what exactly were the decisions made in that 6 hour meeting!!!!!!!!!! What has been removed from the movie and what small changes have been made.

Bigger brow, Tuxedo, Doom Armor . . . WETA!!!!

I realize he's telling us what we want to hear, but am I exagerating to say this is some of the best news we've heard since rumors of the first film started to trickle out?

At least it seems he's trying to do the right thing. Don't know how it will all turn out, but I couldn't ask for any more at this point.

The tuxedo comment somewhat confirms that a wedding will take place...

I've always loved the scenes of Ben in suits or tuxedos . . . pulling at his collar and looking completely out of place. I was so excited about that, I almost didn't notice. . .

Why would he be in a Tuxedo? A Wedding, perhaps?

LOL! I was thinking and posting the same thing at the same time.

This is cool and hey at least I got him to join here (though he never posted...however he tried but didn't realize he had to verify via e-mail and gave up)...whatever that's worth LOL. And he gave us a shout out so that's cool. Looks like he's communicating w/The Hype more now as well.

Reading his entry, I loved everything he said. Gave me goose bumps. A little brow on the Thing, excelent. Thing in a tux ? Lighter costume so he can move more ? More evil looking Doom mask and armor ? Silver Surfer keeping with the original look. :) Awsome Tim. Thanks.

And thank him for that. We apprecate it. :)

Yeah I knew they didn't do the brow for a reason and more clothes on The Thing the better. He did give a bit of a spoiler with the Tux quote. I guess Sue and Reed are getting married for sure. Imagine the kid they pop out in the 3rd film. Invisistretch

The Tux could just be for a social event. One of Alicia's gallery openings or something. Don't jump to conclusions.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

It seemed to make sense at the time considering what happened to Doom at the end of the first film. How are they; going to show Mcmahon now...behind the mask and disfigured? I GUess that's cool.

I have but you know what I'm not as well versed in every comic book franchised as far as every story and every character. Never read the FF too much but loved the characters when I did. I'm learning lots of things here but many of my thoughts are based on a regular movie goers perspective more than a comic book perspective when it comes to franchises I'm not deep into. The main books I read were from the late 80's and 90's and I have few FF in my collection compared to Spidey,Deathlok, x-men,valiant comics, dark horse, etc...I really enjoyed the Valiant line and I'm pissed how that all came to an abrubt end. X-o was cool

:) Thanks, Tim! It's great to know the fans were heard out on these things! Ben's gonna have his brow!
The other stuff all sounds very promising!!

If the Director sounds this positive and acknowledges the fan as well.

Then i have a good feeling about this movie.

Good Stuff! Of Course, the WETA comments REALLY are the highlights of the update…freaking WETA. It seems like FOX is going for a big swing on this film, so hopefully it all comes together. Guess Doug Jones is the surfer, but I still think it’s going to be a mixture of CGI and make-up for the Character….the action sequences of course would be MUCH better in CGI, but it’s possible for make-up to work when he’s not in action sequence.

I'm a bit uninformed on these SPX companies there are so many. What is WETA ? Are they good or the best ? What work have they done ? With Tim's blog entry, my expectations have risen.

I would say they're arguably tied with ILM for the title of best.

What'd you think of that KinG Kong character they did?;)

That says it all. :) Wounder if they are just doing Surfer, or other spx work ? If they are mentioned in the same breath as ILM, that's good enough for me.
