Tim Story MySpace Blog updated

Sounds encouraging. I STILL dont get what the big deal is with Galactus though. Why all the mystery? I'd be ten times more dedicated and onboard with this film if i knew he was appearing.

If they keep feeding us more and more cryptic bull crap then im sitting opening weekend out until i know for sure this adaption is being done with respect.

Can I have your popcorn......?????:cwink: :woot:

^ Oh give me a break. You're gonna sit out opening weekend...and who is to judge what is respectable or not? You? I don't mean that in a confrontational way just so you know. :) As long as it's a entertaining film featuring the core elements of the characters I loved...I'm there. There's nothing to suggest otherwise. Doom was done in a safe sanitized way in the first film and Tim & the studio realize that...they're fixing it. Galactus needed to be changed but his purpose remains intact as is the Silver Surfer. As Tim said you nor does anyone else talking online know what's gonna be on the big screen yet. So you're putting more weight on people that supposedly saw a "rough cut" then on Tim's own words.

There's nothing cryptic about this. The studio and Tim Story does NOT owe YOU or anyone else inside info on this script or how Galactus is gonna be presented. They're working on it and they want to get it right. They're aware of the comments online and the reactions to it. Let's see how it pans out. Have some patience. Dont' you think if they could portray Galactus as he was originally conceived that they would...only if it could be done within the budget and look right. Galactus is not going to be a purple cloud so I think we all need to remove that comment from our memory since the film is months away from post production completion.

I agree. They are on the right track. And Tim, you're not going to please everyone. You can't, it's impossible, so keep doing as you feel is right. Marjority of us are behind you. It's looking good, and I'm sure it will look better, when it is completed. :woot:

I'm gonna go on a hunch that you were talking to Cappy, ................... cause all I wanted was his popcorn......:o

Anyone can judge if it's respectful simply by what is on screen,Fact is if it is a set of flying ships then for old timers like Cappy that is not Galactus and disrespects what Kirby created and he is right in that it does disrespect him and the source they hold close, you may not care which is fine but a lot the faithful do.

You're darn right, "ME". I know what i like and what i expect...why in the WORLD should i support a vision that falls short of those expectations? Because certain people own stock in Marvel and want every project the company attemps to be a massive financial success, no matter how much they half-ass it?

Sorry. Some things matter more to me then money, believe it or not.

So????? If they did the Kirby Galactus and not a bunch of borg like entities would that disrespect the Ultimate fans?????

I guess I have trouble with the word "disrespect".....to me its simply a different vision, a different interpretation if you will...

IMO....:yay:

Story words are not comforting. i mean what's up with " We're working on Galactus, he/it will be in the move" What's up with the he/it reference??? I don't trust story much neither. I'm pissed at the comment on calling people who want a faithful adaption HATERS. How exactly are we hating because we want a faithful doom and Galactus???

I'm not sure what capacity Galactus will show up in, but I fear it's going to those damn bug things. FOX just can not get it right. If they couldn't give us Phoenix in all it's flaming bird glory, no way in hell is Kirby's galactus going to make an appearence. I can agree that galactus needs a makeover somewhat for today, cause the purple tunic isn't going to cut it, but he should be close to Kirby's design as him being a giant living cosmic being.

That wouldnt surprise me in the least, & unfortunately, given the comments from Ioan Grufford (where he didnt know Galactus had a physical prescence) that may be the direction they're taking.

I hope i'm wrong though.

Screwing with Doom was the 1st one's major downfall, messing Galactus up would end the movie franchise in my view. The fans wouldnt tolerate it.

the way i see is The Kirby Galactus is the original,it was around 40 years before the ships, the ships are not Galactus they are some new Marvel invention given and old name, like if they made a new James Bond who was an orange bisexual Alien with gills and a trunk,it would merely have the classic name but no longer be the character at all as there is no resemblance left.

I'm not bothered either way to be honest but i do feel for guys like Cappy,Malus etc who grew up on Galactus.

No.

I can totally understand his concerns--and everyone else's. The track record for "portraying things as they were originally concieved" has been poor lately--budget be damned; that has nothing to do with anything now. No offense, but that's become a cliched cop-out now AD...few are putting stock in such claims now until they see something substantial.

This whole Galactus thing has become like one of Marvel Comic's worst "What If" issues and after FF1 and X3 many fans are tired of being dinked around with "peek-a-boo" games. Concrete, straightforward news is the best news nowadays. Guessing games have overstayed their welcome.

The ultimate version of Galactus is so far removed from the original it is very fair to say using that version would be disrespectful to Kirby and Lee's original vision just as the hybrid nonsense that was Doom in the first film was.

Using the original wouldn't be disrespectful to Ultimate fans at all. If any of them really think that way that just highlights an utter ignorance of what came before.

But don't most of audiences of movies go in with a guess for the most part????? Save this movie.......every other movie I'm looking forward to, will be a total guess as to what I see on the screen......and a few I've read the book, but still I know there will be changes....

Don't forget me. I grew up on Galactus also. I'll wait and see. We may somewhere down the road, get a peek at which way they are going, but I will reserve my judgement untill I see. I'm not going to not go, even if he is not dipicted as I remember. Come on Capt., you know and I know you're going opening weekend. Wild horses could not keep me away.

Not just Old Timers like Cappy. I'm of the new generation and i don't want to see a bunch of mechanical bee ships posing as galactus. i want to see the real deal. The kirby created version. That Ulitimate crap is not flying with the old fans and the new fans.

Jusr finished reading that Annihilation limited series with Galactus and the Ss, and Galactus was as great as ever. His presence in his curent 616 form needs to be in a F4 film. Simply put those Bee drones are not the character created by Kriby, it's Galactus in name only, so why even use him if you're going to half @ss the character and make him completly unreconizable?? You can't just toss up something entirly different and say it's a character that has been around for over 40 years. Galactus doesn't need to be reimagined to the point where the character isn't the one that was created and the one that fans have known and loved for better then 40 years. i wasn't around when he was created, but I want to see the oringinal one and not some Star Trek/Borg/Matrix sentinal rip offs.

Where????

LOL. Was woundering the same thing. He must still be watching Jessicas saying I'm hot for you, and imagining she is saying it to him. His head is still not clear. :woot:

I'm sorry, but I just don't see a different visions as disrespectful, I just see them as different.

I understand why the fans of the original would be upset...I get upset at the different interpretations of some of my favorite novels to film....but I didn't see it as a disrespect to me as a fan, I just see it as a different interpretation of the material....I may hate it in fact....but its still simply a different vision, many times from what I wanted.

The point is Tim Story and Fox do NOT owe the fans any details on Galactus at this time. We should be grateful we got this TV spot so early and how much nicer this film looks compared to the first. A few people are getting all upset about what one person said on the net who aparently saw rough footage that still has 4 months of pre-production to go and we've clearly heard that Galactus will at the very least have a presence. Nobody has said it's gonna be flying ships, nobody from Fox or the cast has said it's gonna be a flying purple fart cloud. It's all ******ed speculation based on an anonymous person's claim to have seen rough footage. I remember footage of several films with 4 months of post-production to go and you'd be surprised at the difference. There's no evidence of any "disrespect" to anyone, and even if they change his look and origin it isn't disrespect by any means. Maybe they felt they could NOT respectfully portray the original Galactus "as is" without chagning him. Maybe they're not changing him at all. Nobody really knows and I have a feeling even Tim doesn't know how Galactus is going to finally appear on screen to the exact detail until it's done.

It's them druuuuuugs.....:cwink:

It bothers me everytime you don't agree with something or question something someone has done, you're labled a Hater. I take offense to Story's comment referring to some as haters. How are you hating if you want a faithful afdaption? How are you hating if you disagree with the route these movie studios are going with classic characters that has been around for years. Galactus was around before Tim Story even existed, so it's not so much to ask as loyal fans to want to see a faithful adaption. kirby's Galactus is not a silly concept and wouldn't be ant less believable then a guy that's silver on a flying surfboard. A bunch of hive mechanical ships from that Ultimate Garbage is not Galactus, they may be easier to do, but it's not the character.

That is the difference between SONY and FOX Mr Story and FOX Execs as to why Spiderman grosses over 300 million domestically and none of your current Marvel films has made you a ton of money. Always a rushed production or seemingly rushed to meet a release date. Sony takes their time and puts out a fatithful adaption. The F4 could done as well as Spiderman or pretty close, but them FOX clowns dropped tha ball and choose to gut d@mn near everything from the comic to make their vision. Same was done with the Xmen. FOX will never learn how to make a proper comic film if they insist on changing major characters to something different and gutting out the fantasy and scifi element think no one is going to believe or accept it. I think people have already suspended their disbelief when they go in and see any fantasy and sci fi film as majority of that element doesn't exist in our real world any way.
