yeah, that looks really bad without the trunks. its just a wall of blue that directs your attention to his crotch.

I know that Superman's red trunk is the butt of many jokes, but having just a wall of blue from the \S/ emblem down to his red boots is rather weird. I think this Superman should've at least have his belt to break up the blue.

ha. this reminds me of the blind worship - in singer we trust - time.

will the history repeat itself?

time will tell.

It will. But considering everything we've seen from MOS has been met with overwhelming positive reaction I'm not worried. In fact, I'm big-time excited. Casting and design (from what we've seen) have all been homeruns, so the rest lies in the story and performances. It would be extremely silly to call the movie a failure and dismiss it at this point.

Whoa. If you had asked me a year ago I would say no trunks would be a big no-no. But I think this suit looks great and it is growing on me with each day. Like a modern Fleischer suit with no trunks and alien elements. It manages to be unique and still look totally like Superman.

so what r u suggesting? just shut up and take in whatever they give? when indeed we are pissed off?

btw, SR suit isn't ugly at all!!! the story is poor, doesn't make the suit. it has the best \S/, best blue!

The SR suit: ugly cape, belt, boots, the \S/ too small, etc, etc...

Again, nobody cares about trunkless Batman in the movies and he's more popular than Superman. If MOS is a great success, I don't think you and the "pissed off" will complain that much afterwards (fanboys are so predictable). ;)

Maybe at the end of the movie, atop the Daily Planet building, in a final romantic scene, Lois will tell Superman... "Dude, please put some trunks on over that leotard. Everyone can see your junk. It's awkward." :awesome:

These new pictures were a wonderful morning surprise. I'm not at all shocked the trunks are gone. I anticipated that this movie would either go the route of the DC New 52 (armour, high collar, overwrought) or more traditional-but-slightly-updated. When Cavill made those comments about trying on a suit that was different but instantly recognizable, I think it was clear that the trunks would be gone. Yes, yes, yes, I know, sacrilege, blasphemy, etc, but I look at these pictures and I still see Superman.

And, y'know, his conspicuous blue crotch. ;)

I keep looking at these fuzzy photos trying to figure out what exactly the belt situation is there...

What it it with Zack Synder and blue crotches?!

It's like Shumacher and his butt shot fetish

Agreed. I don't think WB will sweat losing a few fans over the lack of trunks, especially so if the public loves it and it makes some serious $$$.
Honestly, the good i've saw far outweighs the bad and That includes the lack of trunks.

So who's the guy with the pole on his head? Is it Non, the third Kryptonite criminal behind General Zod and Ursa?

I think a red belt would offset the full blue suit a little better. I like the design from the new comic.

I'm open-minded when it comes to Superman's suit, and I'm neither pro-trunk or anti-trunk. But I have to say the suit doesn't really look bad without the trunk, just need to get used to.

I like this design more than the MOS one.

You have to consider that we still haven't had a good clear shot of the suit yet. Small and grainy pictures don't count to back up or dismiss the suit.

i think it looks pretty sweet. Also, it's a pair of undies, and it'll have no bearing on the quality of movie. It LOOKS like superman, and that's all i need.

Well said.

Holding out hope for Metallo, but I suppose that would have made more sense if Lex was a lead villain.

Doomsday seems the obvious guess, but also too good to be true. I mean, wouldn't he destroy everything including Zod and Faora?

Unless, like someone else suggested, he is completely under their control somehow.

Is Brainiac in some sort of body form (human appearance or robotic) a possibility? It would make more sense to work with Zod than Doomsday anyways. Unless we just get a generic large Kryptonian warrior character :(

Darkseid would seem less likely for a first film, but would be great.

Would be a bit silly. Eh. I just think it is more likely Brainiac or Darkseid would willingly work with them. If this is even a known character. Hopefully it doesn't just end up being a huge random Kryptonian to fight.
