What in the world is on the head of the guy wearing the mo-cap suit?

That "stick" going straight up from the guy in the mo-cap suit, is something for Cavill/supes to focus on. More like the top of the "stick" actually. Cause that stick (and seeing that it's a guy in a mo-cap suit) says that this will be a CG creature of a sort. I VERY tall alien villain. So the top of the stick is where this things head will be. Cavill needs to focus on the top, otherwice they wont be able to make it look as if there's eye contact.

But the movie camera is not a full-frontal shot, it's behind/beside him.

I don't think it is. Snyder likes to shoot with film cameras. He said this:

"3D has got its place - 3D has energised the market a little bit and that's cool. I know a lot about 3D. I've made a 3D movie. I took all their classes and I talked to everybody and I've kind of made it my business to understand 3D. But if I ever make a 3D movie from scratch that's live action, I'm not going to do that.

"I accept 3D as an enhanced visual and photographic experience. The problem also is that technicians right now are sort of telling the filmmakers how to make a movie and that's not good. With the mocap suit why does it have different colors on each limb?

So that when you have shots from the side profile where the limbs "cross" one another, it allows you to differentiate the left leg from the right. Same with the arms.

It's not Shannon in those pics with Superman but it looks like Shannon was in a mo cap suit in other pics.

my biggest problem in superhero movies is that the hero always has big arms and skinny legs. iam happy HAPPY that Superman has strong legs.

yes i do think that they made a big mistake with the shoulders. they are to big.and htey will not move very good. but this is a small mistake.

i have been lurking around here for a long time, but after seeing the new costume from the front i just had to air my views.

i was looking forward to seeing this new reboot.

but the costume has failed. and failed badly.

its sad that a lot of people are having to bow down to peer pressure in saying that the changes are acceptable, when in reality most people are secretly whincing inside at these changes.

its an epic fail beyond what Bryan Singer achieved.

to that, I must give an award to Synder and WB for both bringing Superman into the age of failure.

the new costume fails to pass the "blur" test, where the primary colours of red, yellow and blue should be clearly distinct.

this costume fails badly!

The one without the trunks looks like he's wearing some walmart pajamas, while the classic version instantly shows its Superman.

He's failed everyone? Please, don't speak on behalf of everyone because that would include me and he didn't fail me. Red trunks don't work in live action, period. Suit looks great and will look fantastic on film, thats what it's designed for, not a cheap camera bootleg shot.

Anyway in regards to the mo-cap suit and the big pole on the head, how cool would it be if it was Darkseid? Imagine Zod and Faora fleeing Krypton moments before its destruction and the explosion bumping them off course landing on Apokolips where Zod made a deal with Darkseid (or so he thought, Darkseid manipulates him) and Darkseid comes to earth when Zod and Faora can't handle Kal-El alone.....buuuuut this is all a dream and it is most likely Zod in Kryptonian battle armour or this is the way they will film Kryptonians floating in the air?

They dont work beacuse they make Superman look like a circus freak. He looked ridiculous in those big baggy red briefs in STM and sequels, with those small briefs in Returns and in every live action I've seen. It degrades him and turns him into somewhat of a clown and is quite a big reason why majority of the public (to whome this and all other CBM's are aimed for you/we comic book ˙˙fanboys˙˙are such a minority, we practically dont matter) just cant take him seriously. Superman's costume almost always looked GREAT in the comics including the red trunks, but in live action? Naaah. Time for a change and its a good one. On these set pics I see Superman. Thats all that matters. Routh had the trunks and I didnt see Superman. I saw a pizza delivery boy in a poor home made interpretation of the Superman costume stalking his former girlfriend.

Dude, was that really necessary? Just because people have different tastes and opinions about Superman's character, it doesn't mean that they're not a fan, and like the person said above, you don't speak for everyone.

Personally, I love superman's character and he'll always be my favorite comic book hero. I may not like what's going on with the reboot in the comics, and I may not exactly be crazy for the no red trunks design, but I'm a fan nonetheless willing to give MOS a shot towards winning me over.

wow, some of you guys (in recent post) are unbelievable, saying it doesn't work and that Snyder has failed us??? WTF, if you you don't like it, then speak for yourself! you don't have the opinion of the majority or the least, you have your own! and personally, i think it looked weird at first and i was all for no trunk also, but i'm sure when OFFICIAL pictures are released it will look amazing! Whatever you say about Snyders movies you can't not say "it didn't 'look' good"! and just because people don't like the trunk doesn't mean they're not a true fan, just means there're not as obsessed as you, i loved the old movies, and even returns for what it was, but the reason Returns didn't work out so well because it was a movie made with the same ideas of a 70's / 80's superman! the reason we are now getting MOS is because i think a new direction was wanted by fans.. if i'm wrong then i am, but i only speak for myself.
