wow, some of you guys (in recent post) are unbelievable, saying it doesn't work and that Snyder has failed us??? WTF, if you you don't like it, then speak for yourself! you don't have the opinion of the majority or the least, you have your own! and personally, i think it looked weird at first and i was all for no trunk also, but i'm sure when OFFICIAL pictures are released it will look amazing! Whatever you say about Snyders movies you can't not say "it didn't 'look' good"! and just because people don't like the trunk doesn't mean they're not a true fan, just means there're not as obsessed as you, i loved the old movies, and even returns for what it was, but the reason Returns didn't work out so well because it was a movie made with the same ideas of a 70's / 80's superman! the reason we are now getting MOS is because i think a new direction was wanted by fans.. if i'm wrong then i am, but i only speak for myself.
PEACE

I dont know if you are wrong or not but I do agree with everything you've said. Well put.

its sad that a lot of people are having to bow down to peer pressure in saying that the changes are acceptable, when in reality most people are secretly whincing inside at these changes.

to that, I must give an award to Synder and WB for both bringing Superman into the age of failure.

I had faith in Snyder, but he's failed everyone.

Could you have actually made any more generalized statements about people you know nothing about?
You seem to have extensive knowledge of the inner workings of the minds of us all.
Have you considered that perhaps people actually DO like the new look?
Or think it looks great for this particular version of Superman?
Your taste doesn't dictate the rest.
And seriously, if you think red trunks are the detail which decide whether this is a good Superman film or a complete and utter failure, then I think you need to re-assess who and what Superman is.

go away please, you are not a real Superman fan. you must be one of these "modern" internet warriors who loves anything other than Superman

i feel sorry for your life.

Deciding who is and isn't a "real" Superman fan? And throwing in an insult for an extra kick? Grow up.

sounds like you're a troll, you need to be banned.

you're obviously not a real Superman fan.

have you hit puberty yet?

if not, maybe we can give you some help.

So you've just joined the Hype, you're telling people they aren't real fans when there's a very good chance they've loved the character longer than you have, and you're throwing around insults about puberty.
And after all that, YOU are calling other people trolls?

Seriously ridiculous.

I'm just sitting here smiling and thinking of a time in a few years when we'll be talking about some new take on a Superhero costume and we will be saying: 'You think this is bad? Do you remember how much some people freaked out over the new Superman suit?'

:hehe:

P.S. Really guys, don't bother responding to an obvious troll.

i was looking forward to seeing this new reboot.

but the costume has failed. and failed badly.

its sad that a lot of people are having to bow down to peer pressure in saying that the changes are acceptable, when in reality most people are secretly whincing inside at these changes.

its an epic fail beyond what Bryan Singer achieved.

to that, I must give an award to Synder and WB for both bringing Superman into the age of failure.

the new costume fails to pass the "blur" test, where the primary colours of red, yellow and blue should be clearly distinct.

this costume fails badly!

The one without the trunks looks like he's wearing some walmart pajamas, while the classic version instantly shows its Superman.

I had faith in Snyder, but he's failed everyone.

There is a difference between looking good and looking like the source material. I can just as easily made a spiderman minap with trunks and say it looks better than him without trucks, but I already know that the "objective" opinion of fans would be for the latter look.

If superman never had trucks to begin with, I think it would be plain to see just how silly they actually are in a live action adaptation. Thankfully, it will come down to the general audience in the end(just like Transformers:cwink:)

That being said I do think there should have been a yellow belt. Belt's balance suites out. Batman/Spiderman/Captain America even Thor, and even Blade. The lack of belt(functional or not) is kinda strange.

I had to.

I love how thor costume is revealed, nothing but threads about the costume over and over. The movie comes out where did all the costume discussion go?
rinse and repeat for every one of this movies. It never get's old.

I'm thinking they're using a mocap suit on Shannon to give him a more physically intimidating body via CG ala Mark Strong's Sinestro.

This. It looks like it was Shannon in the mocap suit. So that thing Supes is looking up to IS Zod. Can't wait to see what are they going to make him look like. Seems like Zod is indeed going to be very different from the SII Zod, which is a very good thing.

Seems like the guy taking the photo had a great view of the action. Hope he has a lot more pics and maybe a video of the real shooting!

great Superman and Faora Suits :D

Lol @ the last couple of pages. Anywho, I like the suit, and unless thats Zod Or Non hovering, it looks like we are gonna have some sorta huge azz alien for Supes to fight.

I hope we dont have to wait until 2013 to find out what is the deal with the big thing on that guy's (Zod?) head ...As for Faora, she looks great but now im wondering if her place in this movie is only to be a Kryptonian warrior or will they build her character and her man-hate fueled murdering nature a bit more then just a shallow Zod side-kick, we had that in Superman II. Then again these are just Smallville scenes and filming will last until next april, or so I've read. Ugh, so many questions such a long time for an answer. :woot: I wonder if, given how the announcement of Zod as the villian had a lot of negative reactions all around, they decided to change the script up a bit to put in another villian who will appear only briefly...

Faora's suit reminds me of the asgadian-armor from THOR. I think it looks generic and typical for villains, all that grey and black. I was hoping for something along the lines of Supes' outfit.
I hope at least Zod wears other than just grey and black.

And I really still do dislike the lack of trunks on Supes. It just looks strange now and it really was needless to remove them.
Also, the padded suit looks more and more like an actual muscle-suit.

Looks awesome. I don't think that the suit is padded. Could be wrong, dont think I am.

IF that is Shannon in the mocap suit, I wouldn't be surprised if we see Zod wearing some big hulking nasty suit of armor akin to Russian Zod or "For Tomorrow" Zod.

For muscle definition to show, I think it has to be padded.

Im not sure anymore either. At first it did look that way but if you look closer to both pics of Supes it doesnt look padded at all im sure the suit is just designed to bring out Cavill's current physic a lot more. I know when I wear a thight t-shirt I look a lot bigger then in a flappy t-shirt. But even if it is padded a bit or a muscle suit, I dont mind, beacuse im sure it will look great and real on screen. We cant judge the look by these photos of course. One thing im sure of is that this movie will look great, art will be great, cinematography etc. So that doesnt worry me, the script though....

Wow, that donaldson guy is truly the worst the internet has to offer.

Yeees! NO lamo trunks! Superman just went a whole notch up in the badass department! This is NEW Superman for ya! He's keeping a simple belt, which doesn't look pukingly cheasy!

On the other hand, acting like an prick towards those who like (and were hoping for) the classic look is just as bad. You got your way, why rub it in?

I may be wrong but I don't think the guy with the tracking point suit is Shannon. He looks bigger than the actor. And the stick on his head is probably for reference of the height of the digital character. I suppose we'll see a hulking Kryptonian, a digital and updated version of Non.
In the J.J. Abrams/McG version they planned to have a Kryptonian character that looked like this:
Kryptonian2.jpg

Kryptonian1.jpg

and this was a concept for the Kryptonian villainess:

Well in the first set pic that we got of (allegedly) Zod I think it was MS. He was in the same mo-cap suit but there was no pole on his head. But you could see by the jaw line and the shape that it was Michael. However another guy was spotted in the mo-cap suit and it seems this one is on the pic with Faora. Oh god I would **** myself if it was Darkseid but I know thats just a dream and besides, he's more of a JL villain...but still...:woot:

Actually Faora looks like Loki from THOR. A little too fantastical for my taste. Was hoping for a more "realistic" and less typical wardrobe.

And what's that crap on Supes' thighs?!

Good point.

I foresee a slobberknocker. finally.

Still reserving judgement for some clear properly lit shots. Im exciting about the possibility of a large digital creature.

It makes you wonder what they meant when they spoke about realism.

I'll be really happy if they don't try to make Superman's villains realistic and just allow them to be the fantastic comic creations they are, but just add realism to the storyline and the world setting.
