Damn! This movie is looking insane! Glad to see some real kick ass action scenes going on.

I know some people despise it, but some of those pictures do show some resemblance between Tom and Henry. Don't deny it, some of them do.

Just goes to show how different people's perceptions are as I see not the slightest similarity between them.

Slight resemblance. Nothing mind-blowing. Of course, Henry's picture is pretty blurry. So it's a bad comparison.

Just my opinion, but I don't think its that cavill looks like welling as much as it is that both look like how we imagine clark should look. At least to me thats what it is anyway.
SV got the ''clark on the farm'' and small town look of clark down 100% with welling. Cavill has it as well.

Exactly. Aside from that, HC and TW are both two athletic looking actors with dark hair and light eyes who are above 6 ft. That's really it. For some, I guess it's enough though.

i don't it's a bad thing that Cavill looks kinda like Welling. Acting aside, Tom has a good look.

I think you're right. I noticed immediately. I'm sure TPTB are aware of this. I wonder why.

MAYBE slight^^

Nope. They are perhaps similar types, tall, handsome, well built, dark haired, but no more than that. What's this obsession with having people look like other people? I don't understand it at all. Sorry.

it`s not an obsession, not for me anyway but i can see a little Tom in him. Maybe it`s the shirt^^

So they look like each other because they wear similar shirts? :yay:

Some do, some don't I suppose. No harm in it. I don't.

Care to elaborate on that?

Sure. I don't think ANYONE, can understand what is and what isn't moral for a specific individual. Clark Kent must develop his own personal code of ethics. I don't subscribe to a belief in absolutes in regards to human behavior.

To me, this shows that you don't understand the core of Superman.
As a Superman fan, who has been reading Superman comics consistently since 78, saw all the Reeve films on the big screen when they first came out, enjoyed Lois & Clark, lived through Smallville, I think I have an understanding of Superman.
You may disagree. That is fine. My enjoyment of Superman through the years does not require anybody's approval.
I just see things differently than you do.
I don't see Superman as a static structure but instead perceive him as a dynamic force that symbolizes overcoming obstacles.
Superman makes the impossible possible.
Feel free to see Superman as a symbol for Judeo Christian values from the sixties.
Just don't expect everyone else to.

That's all well and good, but coming into the thread and saying something as nonspecific (and even absolute) as "moral integrity = garbage" is obviously going to be met with such criticism.
And it doesn't mean those who would question such a statement perceive Superman as any kind of symbol of Christianity, that's quite a leap really.

I think they share a slight resemblance, but nothing major. Still, they both look more like eachother than either one looks like Reeve.

After looking at the on-set pic, I'm really interested to see how the destruction in Smallville will look like on the final film.

they look closer than what routh and reeves did. i never saw those comparisons

I think about the only thing that Cavill and Reeve have in common is the eyes, and maybe the ears, but that's about it.

That's a good thing. I thought it was silly that Routh was chosen to portray Superman in SR partially because of his slight resemblance to Reeve (although I personally didn't see it). Blasphemous as it may sound, Superman is bigger than Reeve. It's time to introduce a new Superman to a whole new generation. And I think we have that in Cavill. He looks more like the comic book character than any of his predecessors in my opinion.

Yeah, not a lot of people look like Reeve. He was unusually fine featured (not in a bad way).

Even being attractive himself, Welling wishes he looked like Cavill.

I think in this movie we will see this Superman struggling with those kind of choices. With Zod and company's arrival there is the issue of what freedoms they have while at the same time Clark has to decide what a Superman would mean to the world and what his role is in it. And (because of Zod) he may also be perceived as a threat, so he would feel concern with how he presents himself to the world.

When Wonder Woman killed a man in the failed pilot, fans were outraged by this portrayal. The killing wasn't questioned and explored, it just happened. If ever such an event occurs, such as when Wonder Woman killed Maxwell Lord, the ethical and moral issues and dilemmas should be explored and be part of the story. Esp. in this day and age.
