Guardians of the Galaxy To Infinity and Beyond: The Thanos Thread - Part 1

So... with the big guy being set up as a major player in the MCU, what do you want to see from him?

Should he be the main villain here, a side villain, or just backstory fodder for Drax and Gamora?

Who should voice and mocap him?

Infinity Guantlet or no?

I can see Josh Brolin in there.

I didn't love the use of Thanos in this film, but I loved Brolin's voice work and the look of the Mad Titan.

I always thought the shade of purple in The Avengers stinger was a bit too murky and undistinctive. Love what they did here.

Thano's look is really starting to grow on me!
he looks pretty badass :D

If you want to get into Thanos, be sure to take a look at The Thanos Quest, Infinity Gauntlet, Samaritan, Annihilation and all the other great Thanos comics out there. You'll soon see him become one of your favorite Marvel characters.

I'd also recommend the old Captain Marvel and Silver Surfer comics from the 70s and 80s. Some really trippy stuff.

Google " thanos time mind sync warp". I swear Starlin was on acid when he wrote that story.

The pic above of him sitting upright with an expressionless face is best look I've seen of him so far. I honestly think a slight change to his eyes to make them glow one colour without pupils could make all the difference!

I quite liked him in this movie. My only critique is that they could have made his eyes look a little less human, but that's a minor complaint. His voice was really good and I really bought why people like Ronan and Loki were practically crapping their pants just by being in his presence. Also, he was a really A-hole:

Calling Gamora his "favorite daughter" despite knowing full well that Nebula was sitting right there and could hear him, what a *****e. No wonder she jumped at the chance to betray him, I don't blame her.

i would have liked to have seen thanos kill the other for speaking for him. or see thanos hit ronan or shoot an energy blast. don't get me wrong i wasn't expecting thanos to have a huge fight scene. just the way ronan was acting, thanos didn't respond when ronan stepped out of line.

Honestly... just speaking for myself here... but that smile...

When he suddenly smiled, I was 100% sold. I found it to be chilling.

"Return empty-handed again, and I will paint the star-ways with your blood."
If someone like that said something like that to me, I'd probably pee myself and then try and get as far away from him as physically possible as soon as physically possible.

That was the others job.

I feel like Thanos was amused by it honestly. He saw Ronan almost as a bratty child throwing a temper tantrum. Why bother wasting time with someone like that, especially since they could still potentially be useful to him?

This! So much this!

Plus, are we missing the fact that Thanos isn't even mildly phased by
Ronan killing The Other?

He finds Ronan's genocidal goals to be "boring." That's just hardcore.

He's a ****ing badass mofo that doesn't give a ****. We knew this already haha.

No kidding. He was just so emotionless in everything he said/did and Marvel delivered a very good representation of his comic version.

I think as comic readers we know him well enough to know that thats usually his badass way of being but to people not well versed he may not have come off to impressive taking lip from Ronan.

I think that they made his badassery pretty clear throughout the movie. He's constantly being talked about and his presence/reputation is felt throughout. It's clear that people are REALLY scared of him.

Agreed. And I'll say it again... that smile. That smile said more than any dialogue that I could have written.

He looks amazing and I can't wait to see him exchange blows with the likes of Thor and Hulk.

More than ever, I'm just ready to see Chris Evans step up to him and show no fear at all.
