Guardians of the Galaxy To Infinity and Beyond: The Thanos Thread - Part 1

i would have liked to have seen thanos kill the other for speaking for him. or see thanos hit ronan or shoot an energy blast. don't get me wrong i wasn't expecting thanos to have a huge fight scene. just the way ronan was acting, thanos didn't respond when ronan stepped out of line.

That's not really Thanos' style though. He knows Ronan knows that he can't do anything against him. If he was to get back at Ronan it'd probably be while the latter is at his most vulnerable.

I'm waiting for Hot Toys to announce they're releasing a 1/6 scale of Thanos on his floating throne... Would be epic

They did a great job of underlining how big a heavy-hitter Thanos is by first underlining how intimidating Ronan is and what a threat he is, then establishing how disinterested in him Thanos is and how he views Ronan and his goals as small potatoes.

The only thing they maybe need to refine a little in future films is the eyes. Nothing wrong with them as such, but I think we're that used to seeing them cast into shadow that they felt a little "off" fully illuminated like they are here.

I wasn't digging Brolin's voice as Thanos at all...

Yeah, dat DEEPNESS (probably accentuated with some effects).

I think Thanos is too powerful to have the need of a too outwardly menacing voice (worked perfect for Ronan).

I was kinda disappointed by Thanos in this. Sounds petty, but his shade of blue looks way too bright - the one in Avengers was much better - and Brolin's voice wasn't very intimidating. Too American and recognisable.

Not getting the petty thing.

It's not a shade of blue, it's purple.

Maybe the shade of purple was better in Avengers but let's remember the whole hand thing.

Not sure how this isn't very intimidating

It's Brolin's Thanos and it's awesome. :awesome:
light purple Thanos > murky purple Thanos

Isn't that The Other's voice from The Avengers?

No the Other

Was Killed by Rohan even before Thanos spoke to him

ALso guys we have awhile before we even get to Avengers 3 so he might go through a few looks now and then. Who knows what he will look like in the next few movies.

I always try to avoid footage and pictures (minus trailers) before a movie is released. I knew that Thanos was going to be in GotG, but I was really surprised that we got a full reveal of Thanos in the movie. I thought they would do one of those scenes of Thanos sitting on his throne while the camera is facing his back, and saving the reveal for Avengers 3 or possibly GotG mid or post credits scene. I was okay with Brolin being Thanos, but I like the look of Thanos in the Avengers mid credits scene much better. Overall, I think it's an okay look, to me at least.

Thank God it's American. Every villain does not need to have a British accent. That is one of the most boring tropes in movies.

When did I say it needed to be British? I would have preferred a voice like Ronan's, something a lot deeper with no real accent.

Sure, that line was, but on the whole he wasn't. IMO this is the perfect Thanos voice for me..

I had a bit of a nerd-gasm when I first saw him lol. I only wish we could have gotten more! Brolin's Thanos has really grown on me since I saw the movie Thursday. Well done Marvel!

Damn I geeked out hearing and seeing THANOS in all his glory!

I respect your opinion. But that sounds like stock bad guy voice to me. I don't know if that is British but it sure sounds Englishy to me. I like the direction Marvel is going with there bad guy voice work. Ultron and now Thanos will at least have distinct voices and the way Brolin enunciates Thanos is cool too.

I liked his voice, I didn't have a problem with it.

Do you guys think with the Other dead Thanos will seek another facilitator? I'd love to see Mephisto act as his servant as he did in War of the Gems.

Come on, it's Mephisto. The devil. You really think Marvel would put him in a movie?

I'd bet on Loki taking Mephisto's role if they adapt Infinity Gauntlet.
