to those who watched it, QUESTIONS,REACTIONS, ETC.(Discussion Thread. Heavy Spoilers)

Bottom line is this...... $44.5 million BO totals for the first 2 days make it the #1 highest grossing Presidents weekend realease so far to date. If you hated it, thats gotta chafe!!
Personally, I'm indifferent to the movie - but I've spent the last 2 years reading on this site what the REAL Ghostie fans have been waiting for and I'm thrilled for 'em. So what the hell......

Just because it makes a lot of money doesn't mean it's good. Hulk and DD were both number one movies than tampered off after a couple days. Word of mouth traveled that they were "bad."

You just quoted several different "fight" scenes...and they are the ENTIRE fight scenes...there is not a single fight in this movie that lasts longer than Strike/counterstrike/move on

If it makes you feel better, I agree that you are right on the 'fight' angle. However, to say that this movie doesnt have any action in it is just plain misinformation. Theres plenty of chases, stunts and jaw dropping sfx - whose definition of action limits it to just fights???

True - but as I said, I've been monitoring this GR section of SHH for the last 2 years so I know who the die-hard GR fans are. When one of those guys writes in and rips the movie apart then thats bad. I haven't seen one yet.

I have however seen a lot of newbies who's first post was "GR really sucked!". In my humble opinion they should be doing that on one of the other boards and not the one dedicated to genuine GR fans.

To quote from a movie that I can't remember...... "I bet you're the type of guy that dances in front of a person in a wheelchair!"

Mine...for instance...in the beginning fo Tomb Raider a fortune in SFX is wasted as Lara Croft fights a robot in a training exercise...that isnt action...thats a waste of SFX money...

What board would you recommend we trash Ghost Rider in? The Sin City board?

As a none GR fan, I actually liked the movie. Now I don't read the comics for it, so I wouldn't know if it stayed true to it's comic book counterpart, but I enjoyed myself. Their were a few flaws in it, but I give it a solid B overall.

*spoilers & negative comments. pls. skip this thread if you're ignoring these*

watched it last night. it opened here in the Philippines, Valentines Day

i wanted to love this movie. i even lowered my expectations for this movie. but, dammit, it was disappointing. it was FUN. BUT DISAPPOINTING

here goes nothing:
- Blackheart looks lame. His entire look (the emo hair, the thick make-up, the trench coat) looks like he's spoofing Queen of the Damned, Angel & Blade.
- The Hidden (am i right? that's the name of his minions?) they're cool & all but why do they have to resort to the now-cliche trenchcoats too? i thought the agents of the Hand (from the Elektra movie) were better looking than these dudes.
- The editing and the script didn't work out well. there were lines that made Peter Fonda & Nicholas cage look like B-movie actors. Blaze's last line looked cheesy because of its monotony of angle. Several Mephisto scenes looked silly too.
- The fight scenes were SO NOT impressive. it's as if the wind demon was waiting for GR to kill him. same with the other members of the Hidden.

and here's the top scene that really raises the eyebrow:

- The Old GR used up his last GR transformation in order to JUST ACCOMPANY GR to where the bad guys were? THAT was IT... & he just went home? Oh man!

Share your Thoughts, Opinions, please...
Agreed, I never understood that either. Was it because he orignally didn't ride with Johny Blaze in the script and they had to write him in? If that's the case they might as well come up with a creative way for him to leave like have him be tricked to change back into his regular self by emo Blackheart and his goth gang or something. Another scene I found to be completely pointless was when Ghost Rider rode up the scyscraper only to ride back down. It looked great but really had no true purpose.

Thing is, "Hulk" wasn't a bad movie. Both DD and Ghost Rider were bad movies. And the common demoninator with those? MSJ...

I like DD and Hulk but they were, to the majority, bad. Hence the quotations.

No, Hulk made money because it was marketed as an action movie and simple minded folks couldn't get into the in depth psycho analysis of a character like the Hulk. As a movie, it was very good. It just wasn't what it was marketed as. Bad movie though? God no. Daredevil and GR are truly god awful movies. From the script, to the character development, to the acting / directing ... just piss poor.

I'd rather have a Marvel vs. Capcom Blackheart :D.

Blackheart was the absolute worst villain I've ever seen in a comic book movie. Worse than Doom, and that is hard to top. The elements sucked balls. They were about as threatening as a wet paper bag, and in some cases he was a wet paper bag(the water guy at least). Their dialogue, along with Blackheart, was over the top drivel, esp. Blackheart, and it just sucked sucked sucked sucked sucked. I really don't understand why some directors watch their final cut and go "perfect".

Peter Fonda sounded like he was reading from a cue card really slowly. He wasn't intimidating nor was he exciting in anyway. At least in Constantine the devil was a badass motherf**ker, for the small time he was in it.

I loved the Rider, he was awesome, but I felt he was vastly underused esp. in fighting. Every battle he had was like 10 seconds. Cage as Blaze was really fun to watch too. Cage just makes me laugh.

Caretaker was useless. Absolutely useless. And I like Sam Elliot, so that's saying a lot.

If they make a sequel, and I hope they do, because there is so much potential with the right casting and writing, they had better learn from these mistakes.

Hulk was indeed an awesome movie.

Daredevil could have been so much better. I heard somewhere it was going to be David Fincher behind the chair and Ed Norton as DD? Jesus Christ that's enough to make a man cream in his pants. Damn studios and their Ben Affleck.

*possible spoiler for those who haven't seen it*

Sorry if this has already been posted.

:cmad::csad:

That should'a been in the film! Oh well...Extended cut I assume.

Nice first post.

Thank You :) Hi all, nice to join the boards! :)
I love comics, i love heroes, i love DC and Marvel movies. Well, i knew that some hero movies was quite well and some not. There are top major quality productions like Spidey and X-Men or Batman Begins, and there are some minority titles made just for pure fun, hype, young audience and merchandinsing. Some of there are for example Elektra, Catwoman or The Punisher. I must admit that cinematic version of Daredevil was so lousy but i loved the DC and i'm a great fan of the character so i can understand that my opinion on it is particular. I loved the Punisher for the amusement instead of the plot that fleshed off the original spirit of the Frank Castle character, but i must admit that the overall movie was lousy.
GR for me it's a lousy movie with also no amusement and no style. It's really empty, like Catwoman.
Think about that:
- Grab a camera and some friends. One should be a cute guy, one possibly a nice chick;
- Get a skull mask and make some kind of puppet with pillows dressed with black clothes and some chains;
- Bring the Blaze role to the cool guy and the chick role to the chick;
- Take the camera. Three, two, one, shot both talking about everything they want;
- Ok, put down camera. Take a friend and take the skull puppet made;
- Wash the puppet's head with combustible;
- Bring your friend down on knees asking him to keep the puppet in the middle of the air;
- Light on fire the puppet and shot just him from the torso cutting the friend off of the camera, making sure the puppet is facing the chick who must scream like "whoa! Johnny..."
Now watch what you've done and telling to everyone that you made a great GR movie.
Now you can use some of the excuses to proof it:
1) If someone blames you for the poor dialog, tells him that he's watching a movie about a biker who becomes a flaming skull, so does not need a philosofical or deeper line to act, it's just a movie for fun;
2) If someone blames your for the poor acting, tells him that the cool friend/chick are hot, so whatever... it's not important a great acting because it's just a movie for fun and not a Kubrick or Scorsese drama;
3) If someone blames you for the poor visual effects, tells him that he can't expect nothing more than a flaming skull, and it is. Nevermind if it seems not real, he's watching a movie about a biker who becomes a flaming skull, so does not need a natural aspect, it must be get with fantasy, it's just a movie for fun...
That was Ghost Rider. I was plenty of hopeness for the Cage presence regarding 1) Good acting e 2) Good fidelity with the spirit of the comic book, since cage it's a GR fan (from now the worst, i suppose).
I can understand that the movie needed to become more softly regarding the comic atmospheres, since it must be delivered to families and childrens and so on... but it was a total wasting of money and passion.
If on a side it has NO nucleus and no storytelling, on the other side it showed a ridicolus fx, boring acting, non-sense scenes, and no coreography in action scenes, just a short "make your move and i'll make mine".
I remind that at least, in The Punisher, there was an epic fight with the Russian. Some light of cool thinking in a low (quality, not budget) production. Here's nothing. 120 millions wasted. It could be fun for kids and teenagers, and this can collocate the movie on the same level of Batman & Robin, Catwoman, Buffy, Mortal Kombat Annilhation, and so on.
I'm sorry, because since i appreciated Daredevil i believed in MJS. I'm really sorry.

There was just so much wrong with this film. My favorite parts?

- The Death of Blackheart. -

...Considering how easy it was, why was this not done like...150 years ago when Caretaker was the Rider?

- Magical Roxy and The Amazing Waiter -

The woman pulls a Magic 8 Ball out of..where? WHY?! I half expected the string of hankies to follow, not to mention a bear on a unicycle.

She asks the Waiter if she's attractive to which he makes a face and walks away. Because he's a Waiter dammit! Women like her are a dime a dozen to a man such as he.

...did someone actually write this?

- Gecko Genocide -

The 'moneyshot' of the two Ghost Riders blazing across the desert torches a harmless Gecko in one of the MOST unnecessary scenes ever created in Filmic History.

- The Devil's Pact. Well...not Really. -

The Evil One shows up at the end and tells ol' Johnny that he's going to take the Rider out of him let Blaze live a happy life...after all, there are thousands of people who will make the deal after Johnny.

Johnny simply replies no.

The Devil, somehow completely powerless to do what he just said he would, throws a hissy fit and vanishes.

Again...did someone write this?

let me blow off a little steam for all the other posters who've annoyed me...

sometimes i wonder how old these other posters are...

1st of all, Hating the movie & HAving the Opinion that it was an awful movie are 2 separate things. i get sick reading these posters who always think that just because we thought the film was bad, they immediately think we get orgasm for bashing the movie.

we're also sad that the film had a lot of shortcomings.

OF COURSE, we do not expect GR to be Academy Award material, ONLY a MORON would do so. OF COURSE, we expect GR to be a popcorn fun superhero action movie. OF COURSE, we've even lowered our expectations. it's annoying on how some would LECTURE on why MANY of us were disappointed on why we thought GR failed. we very well know what is & what is not a satisfactory superhero/comicbook adaptation movie, thank you very much.

keep in mind that bashing the movie by pointing out its flaws could open the way to improvement. don't we all want the next GHOST RIDER movie to be WAY MORE COOLER?

ON THE OTHER HAND, to those who sincerely loved the movie, then, it's ok, that is indeed YOUR opinion. & nobody should question that.

I really disliked this movie!!! I thought it was really bad. I hear people saying it was a good a good popcorn movie. I dont even think it got that right. Where was the action? The Ghost Rider one liners were horrible!!!!!! The villians, horrible!!!!!

i read alot of comics when i was a kid. seeing them come to life on the screeen is awesome. i like it for that reason. however, i was disappointed in Cage's performance in some areas. not all. overall i would have to give this a grade of C. now that they are past the introduction/creation of :ghost: i hope that 2 is much better.
