to those who watched it, QUESTIONS,REACTIONS, ETC.(Discussion Thread. Heavy Spoilers)

I loved the movie... the ambience of the whole movie, the lighting, dark feel to it, the atmosphere, everything just made it work perfectly. This is how a comic book movie is done successfully.

The hellfire consumes his body. As he gets a handle on the transformation it becomes easier and he doesn't fight it and can actually take command of it.

Right and with the scene when he sets the candles on fire it still sets things on fire but it doesn't burn to touch? or he just doesn't have control of it in that scene?

I really think it comes down to trying to make this movie too accessible.
People keep saying the fans want to much and will never be happy, and in a way it's true, yet if this was made closer to the expectations of those who know and love the material, it would have been so much better.
And even though it might have been a gamble, in the end more of the mainstream would have ended up seeing it.

But yah... I still want an answer to my question if there is one!

So Bubonic ... welcome to the Hype. Thanks for your background and sorry if I jumped on you.

I watched the scene carefully (seeing it the second time helps!) ... I believe that when he pulls the knife out you see it melting. I can only surmise that what happened was that the knife penetrated his body, was encased in Hellfire and thus "wounded" him because it was then a "hellfire" weapon. The truck and nightstick were not, so they did not permanently injure/scar nick's body. When he is tossed onto the cement, he changes and Nic is limping hurt but not "cut" and although he is sore, his physical body is not "injured" in the same way as if he had been attacked by Hellfire.

IMO. :yay:

Indigenous Australians and there are actually a lot of africans atleast where I live...not many african-americans though.

I think that is the issue. I honestly can't imagine that the race issue was any part of it, other than the fact they needed a young actor? MSJ can certainly answer that but I would be very surprised. If you rent the Director's Cut of DareDevil he featured a Black actor (whose name escapes me) prominently and so I can't imagine it was a real issue.:yay:

I watched that again and was trying to figure it out.

The "Fire" within him was an elemental part that he "accessed" to control the host. The candles lit, the benches in the Jailhouse burns, the Bar's melt ... The Hellfire in the comic doesn't burn the same way.

When he picked up the mugger, the fire from his hands didn't light the guy's jacket.

MSJ could speak to it, but I think we are seeing hellfire and "elemental" fire together in the various scenes.

The effects of the bikes tires puts ruts in the cement and leaves burning material behind. The rider riding up the windows melted them.

When he throws the flame, I believe (IMO) that is Elemental fire and thus it burns the candles. The heat he uses to melt the bars, but you don't see actual flame.

When Roxanne touches him it doesn't burn her, so again the Hellfire.

It would be easier if it burned different colours wouldn't it!? :woot:

I personally don't think its an issue I was just pointing out that there are actually quite a few african people here. The guy from daredevil is coolio.

It burns blue when he's horny right?.....I think the explanation is that he can just control itlike he doesn't want to burn the mugger so he stops it burning him but when he wants to burn the bars he controls it so that it does. The only question I then have is why does he have to throw flaming dirt at blackheart and why can't he just create the fire himself like he did with the candles....it did look cool though so maybe thats the reason.

Well, for anyone complaining, I believe the review that said this summed it up perfectly;

" Seriously, people, if you’re going to go see a movie you know is about a biker with a flaming skull and magic chains, you forfeit the right to complain about how the plot isn’t logical or realistic. Or that there are too many special effects at the expense of story."

Yeh but at the same time I can watch a movie about a big red guy with horns and a tail, a human spider, blue mutants that can change their appearance etc and can still manage to have a good plot.

What Im still wondering about is when he's GR that guy stabs him in the shoulder/arm and when he turns back to Johnny he's cut, but when the cops shoot the crap out of him when he turns back to Johnny he doesn't have one bullet hole in him.

The only thing I can think of to explain it is that when he gets stabbed he just became GR that day and when he gets shot he's been GR for a while so he's at full power.

What do you guys think?

That is no excuse.

That's my take on it as well... graduall getting "used to." This is also shown in how the transformation is initially severely painful but then gets a lot easier and eventually no pain at all.

Very interesting thing brought up right there!

2 things that annoyed me about the viewing experience:

1. People brought kids and those same kids cried during the movie...when deciding what movie is appropriate for your kids, the one with demons and a flaming skeleton MIGHT not be your best choice.

2. People who didn't understand a lot of the stuff. For instance, people thought that Johnny was psychotic because he laughed while he transformed. No people, the Spirit of Vengeance, Zarathos, was happy to finally get a chance to get out and get some exercise.

If you don't follow the comics, how are you supposed to know this? So basically, only fans of the comics will get it entirely? Well that's not too good. It's suppose to reach way further than the comic book fans. It's MSJ's job to explain things like this to the general public.

This may be a dumb question but...does the Penance Stare kill its victims?

Granted I understand the situation w/ Blackheart but for example w/ that thug assulting the punk girl...did Ghost Rider kill him w/ the Penance Stare?

Or did he just take his soul?

Good question, these things are left unanswered in the movie.

Doesn't kill, it punishes. So now, that person will feel those pains for the rest of his life. Mephisto may save Blackheart, or Blackheart may eventually over come it. Powerful people can withstand the Penance Stare.

I would of liked to have seen maybe a scene like in HULK when he talks to him in the mirror or atleast something like that to clearly show that it was a different personality.

If I remember correctly when the thug falls down he blinks...I took that as him still being alive.

On a review, it said it was digital. I'm not sure if the guy was joking or not.
