to those who watched it, QUESTIONS,REACTIONS, ETC.(Discussion Thread. Heavy Spoilers)

It was actually kinda weird to see the superhero defeat his villians with such ease...LOL. :woot:

I LOVED THE FILM......though never a "HUGE" Ghost Rider comic fan, I did read them a bit as a kid. I thought the film was a tad bit cheesy but I enjoyed it and overall was very satisfied with it. The Ghost Rider scenes were bad****ing ass and Cage was the perfect match to play the character..TWO THUMBS UP!!

I still need to see GR to see if MSG has it for The Preacher. However, from the looks of it, perhaps he shouldn't be involved.

It's sad b/c MSG has been great with the fans, and I admire his passions for comics. But I can't say too much now..I need to the movie to see how it fares..maybe it's not as bad as they it is. It could surprise me. At the sametime, that's not a good way in going to a movie.
Well I know he did say that he wanted the preacher series to be basically a page by page adaptation, which even though I haven't seen GR yet, I think he is capable of doing. If that really is his plan, then I think that would be quite different than just basing a movie on comic book characters like GR and DD.

Kind of like a 'Sin City' and '300' thing? That sounds cool. :woot:

This blew. I came into it with an open mind and it was terrible. Never got to know the characters, villains were knocked off too easy, terrible script. It was all bad. Don't get me started with little gothic boy (A.K.A Blackheart). Nick was the biggest miscast ever. Eva's character was dumb. Score was so-so.

4/10

Y'know, I honestyly don't get why so many folks seem to hate this film. I gave it an "8 out of 10" on the SHH! main page, deducting 2 points for the supernatural themes. MSJ was 100% right when he expressed concern about it at Wizard Texas. The idea of fighting the devil with demonic abilities, or that redemption can be obtained through good works...neither of those sit right with me. All the same, as a complete film, I still enjoyed it immensely. My cousin was way more of a GR fan than me (can't remember reading that many of the books, if any), but on the whole I think it succeeded for the most part. I do give MSJ serious kudos for NOT making this R-rated, because in all honesty, more intensity would've just made the movie a whole lot worse.

Now, for the kudos to everyone else:

Nicolas Cage: excellent actor as always, and he really helped to sell the notion of a man whose own choices have trapped him in a life he doesn't want for himself.

Eva Mendes: Drop-dead beautiful and gorgeous, not to mention a little sassy and very brave in her portrayal of Roxanne. She also displayed real concern and love for Johnny in the story, and the film was better for it.

Wes Bentley: I'm not too familiar with his previous work, but as Blackheart, he seemed to be pushing the character a bit too far. He was clearly evil, and Wes did a good job with that, but the role needed to tone down a bit on the comedy.

Peter Fonda: Mega-rops for his portrayal of the devil. He gave that character a bit of common ground with Biblical Scripture, in that this depiction holds true to the notion of Satan being a deal-maker, and above all, a liar who twists the truth at every oppritunity. The goal was clearly to give us a being we wanted to hate, so in that respect, mission accomplished.

Sam Elliot: Not much screen time for this guy, but he definitely ate the scenery when his turn came up. I liked him in "Hulk", and he does a very good job here as well.

All in all, I stick by my opinion...8 out of 10. Good film, and I look forward to the DVD.

I agree with this review, he about sums it up. This movie was a mess! I left the theatre very unsatisfied with what I had just watched. Only redeeming quality is the special effects...leaves much to improve on in a sequal.

I've lurked around here for a bit, but never posted before. I've personally looked forward to this movie for some time and after reading a lot of these earlier posts today I was beginning to get worried. However, I went to the movie tonight anyway and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought it was a good popcorn movie with great special effects and just enough humor in the right places. I would give it an 8 out of 10 for enjoyability, and would remind everyone that this kind of movie was made for people that don't mind letting reality take a backseat and also enjoy fantasy/comics. That fact alone means no "reputable" critic will like it very much. These types of movies will most likely never win an oscar, and if we ***** about it enough and go out of our way to tell people not to see them, studios may become fearful of ever putting out movies based on second-tier characters (I consider Superman, Batman, & Spider-Man top-tier). So I would encourage anyone that thinks they might possibly like it to go give it a shot, and not be swayed by what they read, especially from "professional" movie reviewers and fanboys that continuously look for unattainable perfection. My two cents' worth.

I am a life-long comic book DORK. Heck, I own everything the Ultraverse ever put out...heck...I own a full run of Warriors Of Plasm!!! I hated this movie. To the very core of my being I cant express how completely awful this movie is.

Im not going to defend Ghost Rider just because I'm hoping Marvel will eventually get around to Terror Inc.

i havent seen it yet ,but here the consensus is its dead on arrival.its cool that these comicbooks get the live action treatment, but if they get watered down whats the point?

I updated my review on the review section, but let me just say this....Ghost Rider is SOO much better the second time around.....:woot:

I cant help but think that anyone who actually believes that eva mendes or most...heck ALL of the cast did anything other than a phone in emotionless acting job didnt see the right movie. This was some of the worst acting Ive ever seen in a major film, with cornball one liners that would make Adam West ashamed to be associated with its genre.

Too bad I'll never see it again...unless Im drunk at a friends house and we want to play Mystery Science theater 3000

As much as i dissagree with you....that was funny...

We started during this movie...for instance...everytime someone says "Roxanne" You then say "I wanna be your man"...an early 80s rap joke, but we found it fun...we were in a sold out theater though so we had to keep a lid on our conversation though.

First I'd like to say Ghost Rider was another Marvel-adaptation DISASTER by MSJ. I feel as though the SHH review of Ghost Rider was intentionally misleading. Here are some things that stand out:

"When Ghost Rider does battle with Blackheart and the Hidden (or the elements, so to speak) it's an all-out slugfest with no holds barred. Their powers give the Ghost Rider a challenge in having to figure out how to defeat them. The scenes feature impressive special effects that'll have you say many times, "cool!" We won't spoil them here, but many of the best visual effects, including the full transformation, you haven't seen yet in trailers or clips. "
--> WTF? a slugfest? The Hidden's powers give Ghost Rider a challenge? I was severely disappointed with the fregin' SHORT fight scenes. I kept hearing the teens sitting in front of me turn around and say 'cheese' every time ghost rider pulled out his chain and finished off a 'hidden'. The FX for ghost rider where good and thats about all that was good about the movie.

Next Misleading Quote:

"Those who were afraid that the film's initial release was moved from summer 2006 to February 2007 should be assured that the FX team has pulled out all the stops...The special effects for Blackheart and the Hidden were also very well done."

-->All I'm going to say about this is that if you haven't seen the movie yet take this last quote with a fist-full of salt. Blackhearts FX at the end of the movie reminded me of Mortal Kombat Annihalation. And then save yourself time and money and dont see this flick if you were disappoined by any of MSJ's other movies like Daredevil or Electra.

Finally, all those people in the forum who don't like to hear Ghost Rider get bashed should really just stop going to the forums. I don't care if you see the movie ten times or buy five DVD's of it when it comes out on sale. I'm sick and tired of people standing up for the bad directors out there who make millions to disappoint enthusiasts with their sloppy half@ssed movies. I personally like MSJ, but he should really stop butchering great MARVEL titles; and give up the gimmick. The SHH review was obviously an attempt to keep his career afloat, but it's easy for any movie goer to see that MSJ is going no where with his flicks. If anyone, ABSOLUTELY anyone (ie: Time Story, Ang Lee etc...) other than MSJ had made the movie, I would have probably had alot less to complain about.

You know...Im actually hoping this movie tanks so we can forego a sequel and instead get some other franchise going.

I don't believe that Nicholas Cage has done a sequel to this day (unless I'm mistaken), so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

For a one-time ride to get a feel for this character walking through the live-action world, which is all I really wanted, I feel satisfied.

It did feel like they were holding back on the action, and certain things like Blaze talking to the Fire Spirit within, along with more character development for the Caretaker. It was so.. "And like that, he was gone." That bugged me. Was this movie really almost 2 hours? It didn't feel like it. There wasn't nearly enough character development.

Oh well. The Rider looked sweet.

I think he'll come back...Ghost Rider is his #1 Superhero. And its obvious he had fun playing this role.

I'd be VERY surprised if he didn't want to return.

:ghost: = :down

Didn't care for it. I think my biggest problem was that he beat everyone with little effort. No knock down...drag out fights at all.

Then somebody wanted to play during the movie and kept pointing a laser at the screen. Somebody pointed him out after the film and he hauled @ss out of there becuase people wanted to get a piece of him.

It seems its popular to hate MSJ or who was in the cast.

I very much enjoyed the film. At first I did also think GR beat the Hidden with ease, then I thought about the new books, in which he dispatches everyone with ease. The gave him immense power. I loved it. I think the first time the hero of a film was not an underdog.

He was a underdog in some scenes but he realized how to use his powers easily. GR knew to think ahead and not get beat up and take out people. Most of the hidden weren't that powerful to begin with. It was together they were a huge problem.

I really don't know what all of the complaining is about. Especially about the Blackheart transformation... I didn't expect him to transform at all so when I got it I was thrilled. Granted he wasn't totally in blackheart form for a long period of time but I was quite content with what I got. Secondly, the movie was good. I think they did a wonderful job. I only had two small problems with this movie: 1. there were a couple of lines that really laid on the cheese and 2. Nicholas Cage was in it. Other than that it was great.
