to those who watched it, QUESTIONS,REACTIONS, ETC.(Discussion Thread. Heavy Spoilers)

I thought the film was decent. Entertaining to say the least. Nic Cage, Peter Fonda, Sam Elliott did a very good job with their characters. However the movie moved too fast, Wes Bently was one of the worst actors I've ever seen in my life, and didn't come off as intimidating or threatning for a single second. He had the voice of a 7th grader right before he hits puberty, and that doesn't bode well for a villain. The story was okay, the fight scenes were awfully quick, and to me, un-inspired. This movie had the same exact feel as Daredevil to me, when I saw that in theatres. Although Daredevil was slightly more entertaining. We'll see what happens box office wise...

Overall, 7/10

^^^I think Dk nailed my thoughts on the film pretty much the same.

First off, to anyone who says Nicky Cage was a drastic miscast I leave you with the same sentiments GR had for the police as he made his river escape, if ya'll know what I mean. Elliott's character portrayal also was quite enjoyable and a nice homeage to the very original GR comic. The legendary Peter Fonda had good prescence, and it made me feel like he should have been the main villian to go up against G-Rider , though that was seemingly set up at the end. Eva Mendes served her purpose, not harm no foul.

Wes Bently was hands down the greatest portrayal of bad acting.

Overall, I think this was a top notch B-movie. It wasn't the greatest flick, but anyone that doesn't find it to be even slightly entertaining will feel the wrath of my patented Double Penance Stare (not valid in Arkansas or New Zealand). Anyways, go see it, or you won't like what I did to your cheerios.

I give it 6.9/10 plus .1 for Nic Cage's macking on honeys skills.

To anyone who's seen the movie: Does Ghost Rider's voice shake the theatre as promised?

Yes, and each member of the audience was given a refreshing bowl of Rasin Bran as promised by my local alderman. This guy -> :hyper:

I think Mark Steven Johnson should feel the rath of the Penance Stare. I really didn't see any redeeming qualities in the movie at all. People keep saying oh its a fun popcorn flick, I dunno about you, but I expect some cool action scenes in a fun popcorn flick and this gave me 0. The fight scenes were so dull. Nothing really happened, like honestly, one or two punches a chain whip and boom end fight scene. And the final fight with Black Heart was just so anticlimactic. Don't even get me started on Wes Bentleys' acting. The only entertaining thing about GR were the few scenes that were unintentionally comical and Sam Elliot's performance. And man some of that dialogue just made me cringe oof how brutal were the first 15-20 minutes of the movie. That was tough to watch.

Just something I noticed,
For those fans who have seen Blade, near the end of the film when Blackheart was surrounded by the demons, it instantly reminded me of the time when Deacon Frost summoned his demons to become La Magra (Blood God). When I compare the two, they feel pretty similar.

Anyways, I enjoyed Ghost Rider. I really liked Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze.
The effects were very well done. I particularly like the scene where GR rides up the building and then back down again. In my opinion, the villians could have been better, and story and character development could have improved alittle bit as well. The action was ok, but could've been more.

Overall, it was a pretty good film, look forward to buying the DVD.

Another problem I noticed is..when he first turns int oGR and saves the fat emo chick he gets stabed which dosent effect GR but when he turns back into Blaze it affects him and we see Sam Eliiots character stitching him up. I thought that this was a cool idea except for when GR is confronting the cops in a hail of gunfire and it does nothing to him! WTF?!?!?

Most of the hidden weren't that powerful to begin with. It was together they were a huge problem.
Then they should have had a 3 against 1 battle in the film...not some geigh: ''Hey, look at me! I'm a demon and because I'm a demon you will obviosuly not be able to defeat me! *GR does something that isn't even that impressive* On the second thought... *dies*'' ****.

The beginning of the movie was incredibly cheesy. I felt like I had already watched it because, well, it was SO FREAKING PREDICTABLE! There was nothing this movie had in it's favor, except for that scene with "MOSHZILLA"

The whole father son interaction was like DAREDEVIL, except Johnny Blaze didn't take off his father's boot. I would'nt be surprized if Mark Steven Johnson either had to do that for his dad, or just doesn't know how to write any different.

Satan had Kingpin's cane, all the demon's dressed like Bullseye, and as stated earlier by many others, Wes Bently's acting was like... screw it, i dont even want to get into it about that.

The only reason some CG scene's looked good is because most of the CG was horrible. Terminator had 100x better special FX, (and I am talking about the first one)

Nick Cage was great, except the writing was wretched, the only thing worst the writing was the timing... and Wes. What a waste of a cool name...

The writing, my goodness, legend has it the writing was bad. Legend has it, it was real bad. Why on earth would Sam Elliot wait 125 years to ride with Ghost Rider so he could do what? Show him a town and give him a gun then die? And what the hell did Ghost Rider do that deserved a thank you from Mr. Elliot? Really? what the hell did he do? He never argued or showed him anything new, just that he loved his dad and was willing to sell his soul?

Why wasn'y the concepted of EVERYONE knowing who Ghost Rider was explored more? Jesus Christ this movie was bad. Maybe it seemed so bad because I had just watch Waking Ned Divine and the Prestige litterally the day before.

as for the directing... the hack just took shots from Daredevil and put Ghost Rider in them. Mark Steven Johnson is to action/comic book movies what Shaun Levy is to comedy/family movies.

I enjoyed Daredevil, I enjoyed the original way more then the director's cut, and maybe that is saying something...

Anyways, on the positive side
Jelly Beans
Monkeys
The Johny Blaze interview
"Do you think I am pretty?"
"Moshzilla's" interview
The finger
The good cop/ bad cop scene

Mark Steven Johnson should just do movies like "The Hills Have Eyes" and siht like that for the rest of his life. He should stay the **** away from MARVEL properties, those characters get enough siht to deal with when Bendis gets to write for them (but Bendis kicks ass and knows how to write the characters,) they don't need anymore crap from MSJ. If any movie threatens the future of comic book movies, it is this movie, with this man, MSJ.
Why aren't there more Sam Raimis in hollywood?

What baffles me the most is that to this day, right here on these boards, people are finding fault with Batman Begins...yet this piece of garbage is getting rave reviews?????

This is a 3/5 film for me...

BUT: That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it. I loved it. It's just a three-outta-five movie IMO, but cool...I'll be doing a review on my blog for those who have time to waste

Some of the effets were cool save for the bluescreen behind Mephistopheles at the end, that was ****house.

And another reason why I liked it...filmed in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

I don't live anywhere near there, but hey, it was made here at least

Maybe its just me but i don't see why every superhero movie has to have a girl. I know every superhero has one, but its an origin movie we can wait. I dont know it seems to me that it makes it soooo formulaic. Who would have guessed he wouldn't have been able to make it to dinner :whatever:. BUT i did expect it. So the real problem was that Johnny Blaze had all these problems, which im ok with. But GHOST RIDER has NONE. He just kicked everyones ass. I'm less inclined to give a damn about Johnny Blaze when i know he can just turn into Ghost Rider at any point and just tear **** up without any problem what so ever. I mean if they were going to just have him pretty much invincible couldn't they atleast have drug out the asskicking a while?

Theres other stuff to but it's already been stated 100 times, the corny lines, the over the top comedy in the first half, the HUGE plot holes.

As much as i want to like Ghost Rider and i think Nicholas Cage is an awesome actor/really cool guy. This movie had nothing. Watching him ride around was cool but thats about it.

I liked the film, because of the visual, and I like the story, but this movie had the worst acting ever. The Kid whp played Young Johnny and The young Roxanne should have starred in this movie, The were far better actors than Cage and Mendez, And the chick was hotter than Mendaz too, but I did enjoy her "perkyness" lol

Well you have to invest yourself in the characters and love and rejection is something everyone can relate to.

Anyway, a fit-ass guy wearing leather and a flaming skull kicking ass for 90 minutes isn't what I call a good movie.

I seriously don't see what everyone's complaining about. As I said in the Grindhouse thread, have people lost the idea of just going to the movie for fun, for a good time?

Hell know I had fun and a good time in Ghost Rider...but then again there's people out there who seem inclined that the world cares what they have to say all because they watched the film raced home and saiid what they think (usually the term is "It sucks!") on the internet.

I'm half asleep so expect this crazy ****

So somehow the positive reviews are more valid than the bad reviews???

"It sucks" pretty much summarizes my thoughts...I cant think of ANY aspect of the film that didnt suck.

The entertainment quality of the this film is that its a riotous comedy...which was not its intent.

The creators of Ghost Rider told SCI FI Wire that they once considered a more frightening R-rated version of film, but opted for a more teen-friendly PG-13 rating at the urging of star and producer Nicolas Cage. Cage, who is a big fan of the Marvel Comics series on which the film is based, said that he wanted the character to remain accessible to younger audiences.

Thanks Cage, you idiot.

It doesnt completely suck, I liked all the parts where nic cage wasnt visable.

Nic cage is quite the producer! being a big fan of Ghost Rider he is well aware of Johnny Blazes love of The Carpenters, jelly beans, his relaxed and nonchalant attitude towards loved ones deaths...not to mention Johnny's Penance stare and kid friendly tone.

Ok but how many times can you see it before its gets old? You can't tell me you didn't predict every single thing that happened between them. This love and rejection story was boring because it was so predictable.

Listen i'm all down for fun in the theatre. I went to midnight Snakes On A Plane, I loved Crash, and i can't wait for Grindhouse.

But everytime Ghost Rider came on screen i got excitied like "here it comes" and then he instantly whooped all his enemies collective ass's. That was not fun.

I'm not saying there should be no Johnny Blaze, but i do want to see more then 2 minutes "fight" scenes with Ghost Rider.

Watching him ride around town was cool/fun but it didn't last long enough to make up for the gaping plot holes, cliche love story, corny one liners, and lame fights.

I'm going to post what I said in the other thread:

4/10

The movie's not the worst movie I've ever seen but its far from being the best, or even very good.

I realized we were in trouble when we started having flashbacks to things that happened 10 minutes ago. Moments like that would have been right at home on MST3K. The whole production seemed amateurish with that MTV music video style of directing running throughout the entire thing.

I Really wanted to enjoy this. Alas.

Another thing that really annoyed me was Cage's facial expression when he would change. He looked like one of those big fat guys on anime shows that get distressed and their faces tighten and turn red. It made me laugh.

I wouldn't say that MJS is a bad director. I mean, his directing ability did have some faults (like Blackheart's appearance and such), but I think he is a horrible writer. He wrote the movie and I think that was the problem.

ANOTHER thing that annoyed me was the first time Nic turned into Ghost Rider he seemed to be laughing as his flesh was burning off...thats due to Nics inability to differentiate a painful scream from laughter in his performances

I think he was laughing. I took that as Ghost Rider's personality taking over. Kind of like Jekyll and Hyde. Jekyll hated being Hyde. Hyde loved it.

Nope...look over Nic cages movies, all of his pained screams sound like laughter...its how hes done it in every movie hes ever been in...to suggest that this time theres a deeper meaning is giving Mr Jellybean way too much credit.

Just watched the movie last night, it played on two screens of a six screen theater and was sold out for both. I went with four other friends who were pumped to see it. Some of them comic fans some of them not.
I REALLY hate to admit it, but I was rather disappointed. Everyone left feeling let down. I gues we all had really high expectations after the previews. I usually enjoy all of Marvels movies and will defend Daredevil to anyone, especially the directors cut. However, this is one of the first big budget comic movies I walked out of not wanting to see again soon.
I'm really surprised that MSJ didn't deliver on this movie. I know he's passionate about the character, but it just didn't measure up on screen.
How many of you felt the ending was very weak. I kept telling myself it would deliver with a huge fight at the end, but it didn't. Can anyone here tell me the fight between GR and Blackheart didn't suck?
I don't know, I promised to go see it with some other friends as well anticipating that I would surely want to see it again. Maybe I will like better a second time. I hope so.

You didnt like that final climactic battle?? Why, it involved Ghost Rider throwing dirtballs at the bad guy and then looking at him just like he had several other bad guys...

Whats not exciting about that?
