Anyone heard anything on how they might have reacted to this ? This was Tobeys money maker if I am not mistaken.

I am more wondering how malkovich took it...

here, he finally decides to go out for a comic book role (something he avoided back in the day, even turning down, the green goblin role for the first movie) and this happens, we may never get malkovich in a comic role again (or at least not for awhile) after this experience

I think Kirsten is the one who is screwed, cause this was the only movie who would pay her the big bucks.Who else is gonna want to hire her to be in their movies, cause she can't act and she is not hot.

And John Malkovich could be an excellant "Tinkerer",much better fitted than the Vulture.

Tobey seems genuinely cool with it.

He made a ton of money and is having a good time with smaller projects. He's also a big family man and spends tons of his time with them.

I'm sure he's grateful of the Spider-Man franchise for all the success its brought him and can move with out it at this point.

John Malkovich needn't worry he's already an established respected actor, his role as a comic book villian will come.

Tobey Maguire seemed cool about it plus he's got other projects such as producing Robotech to be released in maybe 50 years.

Kirsten Dunst I honestly don't remember any other movie she's been since SM3.

umm, who cares? toby will get along fine and kirsten will go back to her half human people and never be seen again

Tobey stopped caring a long time ago, its obvious by his phoned in Spider-man 3 performance. They all wanted to move on and thats not good for the performances. I would love for them to have stayed and delivered great but if they aren't going to then the reboot is for the best.

Which must be an indication of how good the Vulture role was...

Dunst probably doesn't care. She always seemed like she was over the Spider-Man movies before they began.

Not anywhere I've read. I doubt Malkovich would agree to play the character without reading the script.

Hopefully, Sony is smart enough to give a role to John Malkovich in the reboot. That guy is a quality actor.

Personally, I don't blame Kirsten for not caring, nor Tobey, the writers, producers and director kept producing the same film with every outing. Not allowing Peter, MJ or Spider-Man to evolve and mature. I've seen movies with 8 to 10 year olds with more maturity.

And Tobey and Kirsten will be just fine...Spider-Man put both of them in giant ass mansions.

The studio never wanted Malkovich or Hathaway. They saw them both as expensive, essentially redundant names. The same theory as the reboot and getting rid of Sam and Tobey - they believe the Spider-man brand to be above expensive names, and able to survive on its own credibility.

Malkovich isn't expensive, he's not even a big star, you'll usually find him in small indy flicks that don't make much money, but his talent shines like a well oiled behind.

Spider-Man, Batman and Superman are above expensive names.

No, they're not. What you need to remember is that Spider-man 4 would be something like a year and a half commitment for Malkovich. While he may do all these little indy movies for a relatively cheap fee, taking up that amount of time would be expensive, and he'd be asking for a bit.

You think Nolan's Batman cast has little to do with its success? Or the fact that SR had just on recongisable name didn't play a role in its relatively small success?

These days expensive casting isn't important, good casting is. Malkovich would be getting paid peanuts compared to even Kirsten Dunst. He is not an expensive actor, especially for a 2.5B dollar franchise, especially in a film without paying Tobey, Kirsten and Sam Raimi their huge ass checks that they don't deserve.

I think 2009 showed that you don't need big names for people to want to see your movie. The Hangover, District 9, Paranormal Activity. Those were all original films with no fanbase and no big names to draw people in but people still went anyways. Spider-Man, Batman, and Superman have giant fanbases and so have even less need for big names to get people to see their movies

I always got the impression that Dunst thought the character and movie in general, were "beneath" her.

So I hope she soon comes to realize how good she had it, and how poorly she handled it.

Tobey had a little of that early on it seems to me, but he seemed to mature more to the role of playing it (Peter/Spider-Man). Do not confuse that with me thinking he played the role well. He was OK, but I feel he (nor Raimi) really understood the character, and as such, the character and role suffered.

Probably we have some comment from Tobey before the Golden Globes.

Malkovich is the villain in Jonah Hex. So yea he's met his comic book villain quota. And trust me, Turnbull is 10000x the villain that Vulture is.

As for Tobey and Kirsten?

I like Tobey, think he's a great actor. He'll get plenty of work if he wants it.

Kirsten? Egh she was ok in the first movie, from then on it was clear she didn't really care and that she thought these movies were below her. So **** her, she won't get anymore roles of note. She'll go back to hanging around with Johnny Borrell and getting pissed and coked up.

She better hope for her sake they decide to turn the movie "Wibledon" into a trilogy because she might have some troulbe find roles that aren't crack head ****es.
