Tom Hiddleston: Loki Redux - Part 2

Why show the stunt double in the trailer? Couldn't they have picked a different scene with Loki fighting that's actually Tom?

I think it looks like TH.

What does it matter? They're simply highlighting a sequence of Loki attacking a Dark Elf.

I just think the trailer would feature the actors and not their doubles. That being said, it doesn't look like a stunt double to me. It would be kind of unnecessary to have one for a fight sequence like that (from what we can gather from the trailer) since we know TH is capable of doing fight scenes on his own.

Here is the thing doubles are everywhere where there is a chance for actor to damage his/her face.

In avengers there were two glaring stunt double moments for me one with Black Widow and the chair in the beginning (not just double but male double mind you) and another one with Loki again where Thor lifting him over his head in their final confrontation (there were second TH double the main one seen in TDW trailer).

Stunt doubles are everywhere we just do no see them normally.

I think it was Tom, once again, the arm swing, the way he did it, those are his mannerisms. Pretty sure its Tom

Its what stunt doubles do - copy mannerism to blend in. More important is the fact that double have totally different face structure (massive chin, not so sharp cheekbones, shorter forehead etc).

Don't get me wrong it`s good that you don't see the difference, because while I see this it break a hole in my immersion :cwink:.

Sure copy, but its hard to copy EXACTLY, even his face to me looks like Tom. I see Tom's face, in makeup, with an expression. Secondly why would they need a stunt double, Tom can't pretend to hit a dark elf?

It hasn't been said officially it's a double, sorry, not buying it, like, at all lol.

I wonder if that part of the scene will even be in the movie or will they use a different version.
If that was a double... could it be that the full scene w/Tom might have revealed too much of the plot and was kept out of the trailer on purpose?
Look at what we are doing in this and other threads - dissecting each frame to get clues on the plot.

Thank you! I was looking for this picture, yep, it`s him. Cinema "magic" indeed - the doubles work is so immense but people do not know it. Like in the Black Swan where Portman was accused for basically doing nothing in regards to ballet scenes by her double.

Definitely not the guy in the middle lol.

It's Tom in the trailer.

Think Tom will come to his own defense? He had to when there was a question in the fight scene in TA with Captain America in Stuttgart.

IDK... It's the forehead and jawline that seems to be throwing me off - but the angle is bad. Might need to ask the "experts" on tumblr what they think. ;)

The angle. but again, i still see Tom's profile. It reminds me of how he looked during the cage scene.

And again, why would they need a stunt double for that scene? Tom is a good actor, he can spar a bit with Chris Evans, he can definitely pretend to elbow someone. I think it is the camera angle, there is no reason why a double would be needed for that scene. Doubles are obviously used as minimally as possible. I don't know a lot about holywood, but if the actor is capable, I would think they would film the scene. I think Tom is capable of elbowing someone.

I think I am the minority on this here? I could be wrong, but in my eyes, there isn't any visual doubt that it's Tom lol

I agree with you. Tom has said he prefers to do as much as possible by himself without a stunt double. When they use stunt doubles, they have to redirect the camera away from the double's face, otherwise it's way too obvious. Tom said in an interview he hates seeing the back of his head and so he does as many of his own stunts as he can.

Since that shot in the trailer is pretty focused on the face, I doubt it's a double. Definitely Tom.

I agree with you, jaqua, I mean... this is the same guy that told Hemsworth to go ahead and punch him during the Stark Tower scene in Avengers
