If Tom Holland shows up at the premier for Ant-Man , every reporter and their dog will be trying to get an interview , they'd probably even push Robert Downey Jr out of the way to get to him
That'd be hilarious.

RDJ: I'm here to see Ant-Man. And I'm not answering any questions about Civil Wa-*realizes no one is paying attention and everyone is around Tom*

RDJ: But...I'm Iron Man.

The more average he looks, the better!

Isn't that partly what's made Spider-Man so relatable...the fact that he is an 'everyman' with everyday problems (and everyday looks).

Unlike most Superheros (Captain America, Superman, Batman etc) Spidey shouldn't have that action hero 'look'.

When one looks at Peter Parker he shouldn't scream 'superhero', he should scream 'skinny nerd', 'average joe', etc. Peter should look like the guy you always ignored in High School, the next door neighbor you never gave two thoughts about.

Just my opinion but personally I always felt Andrew was a touch too pretty in his Spidey Films.

I'm sure they'll mess around with Tom's look, I just hope they don't try and pretty him up too much, as the thing I always liked about Spidey is that he, more then any of the others... represented the hero that can reside in the average person (even the geek sitting in the corner).

I agree with this in the main but he should still look like Peter Parker and Rowe looks far more like the comic character than Holland.

And yet they didn't pick him. That should tell you who put in the better performance.

Awww, tell me this isn't adorable:

I love his dog. Is that a pup though? It doesn't look as big as the one in all his pics

Yes it is, they made a bunch of tests to get the right actor, if they thought Charlie had potential to do a better job they would have hired him.

But that doesn't guarentee that he would then give the better performance. To many other variables.

They don't cast an actor randomly, they have those variables in mind when casting a role and considering the MCU's casting has been impeccable so far I would say yes Tom was definitely the best for the job especially because Charlie had yet to give a great performance and Asa lacked any kind of versatility(plus a lot of other problems).

Part of the support some people gave to Asa and Charlie was that if Marvel was considering them it meant that they had shown potential for the role, not sure why that trust in Marvel's judgement doesn't apply to Tom.

Tom's appearance ! Isn't it too obvious ? :loco:

Anyway, I think Tom will be a great actor, he has impressive acting skills. One thing that make me don't like him - his look.

Just count yourself lucky we didn't get this look for Peter

Rowe does look more like Peter from the comics but he's more towards the modern Peter, where as high school Peter Parker looked like a full on geek. Even with glasses Rowe is kind of a pretty boy, and people would hate that just as much as they did with Andrew Garfield. They're doing highschool Peter, thus he shouldn't be that good looking

I am aware of how casting works, actually

All I was saying is that, even if Tom gave the best screentest, it doesnt neccesarily mean he would, with 100% certainty, give the best performance. I was in no way doubting his ability to do so in saying that

Seesh I don't get the hate on tom looks. Now I am a guy mind you. And I think he has a decent look. He isn't some ugly dude. Yet he isn't the hottest guy in the world either. And peter isn't thst. Is is average guy. Goes from being that geeky loser as a kid, gains confidence and all that and grows into a more mature guy who can score with the ladies and they see he is a good catch. The typical pathos like thst kids story the ugly duckling who grows into the swan.
