Tom Welling as Superman Manips

Superboy13_bt, I have only one complaint about your Smallville-Metropolis-Superman manip: lose the SR shield. The S-emblem you have on the bottom should be what's on his chest, not that hideous distortion of it that they're trying to pass off as a real Superman symbol. Some things in life and in entertainment should be modernized, but other things should be left as they have been. The Superman costume, and especially the S-emblem, is part of the latter group.

I think a good way for them to be original could also be having Clark travelling around the world for season 6 and also to see more of his training in the Fortress which is supposed to take place I guess for 12 years...

That would be a great idea, but how would that sit with his College education. Doesnt he need that to become a journalist?

The name of the show I don't think will ever be a restriction for them to have Clark leave because it's more than the name of the town or the show, it's synonimous of who Clark really is, his upbringing, the values his parents gave him and what makes him what he is and of course it's also the nickname that Lois gave him.

I've seen in those Smallville companions or the Smallville Magazine, cant remember which, that the show is about the people from Smallville not just the town of Smallville. So that aligns with what you are saying.

Hey, I'm not the one that can't get over things like that little issue that was brought up....obviously the person who manipped it liked it.

'Everything was great about your manip'....'EXCEPT that S....It's the SR S..so yuck. That S is raping my childhood and memories of the man of steel. I mean, look at how DIFFERENT and ugly it looks from previous S's.'

:rolleyes:

You're really putting words into my mouth, aren't you? I never said anything close to "That S is raping my childhood." Besides, I don't have alot of really deep memories of the Man of Steel. I vaguely remember "Lois and Clark," but that's about it up until the time I started watching "Smallville" about two or three years ago. Then I got ahold of the Chris Reeve movies just because Tom Welling had peaked my interest and I wanted to actually see someone in the suit on film. The Reeve movies plus Smallville have until recently constituted the sum total of my Superman fanhood. I have only just now began dabbling into the comics.

Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that I'm not some long-time Superman fan with a sizeable comic collection who's whining about the new S-emblem on the basis of little more than pure nostalgia. I'm 20. I haven't lived long enough to be truly nostalgic about anything. I just don't believe that they should change a classic symbol like that just for the sake of novelty and thrill. That hyper-modernized S-shield would look great on Bizarro's chest, but on Superman's it just isn't right.

If, in fact, the new S-shield was designed to serve the artistic purpose of reflecting the less light-hearted times SR is said to portay, I have a little more respect for their reasoning, but it still doesn't quite hold water with me. I refer you to Superman III, in which CR's Supes was under the influence of something similar to SV's "Red Kryptonite." They darkened the colors of the costume and symbol, but the design remained true to what it should be.

You're not?
Hulk has a point, Pickle. I welcome your presence here, but it does seem like you are the official SR police for this forum.

I have to wonder if you are so vigilant in busting people for making anti-SV or Welling comments elsewhere?

In the most recent retcon (Birthright) he did travel the world after leaving Smallville (after high school) earning his college education in various different places and schools...though I doubt that will happen in Smallville. It would be tough doing a series based in Smallville when the lead character is removed from the rest of the cast and in a totally different location.

Mmm... actually, you do seem to be one of those people sometimes. :p

I suppose I could see why you might be a little perturbed, IF somebody actually said that, but I can't seem to find that quote in this thread. :confused:

Pickle, seriously dude, move on. You know there's gonna be people who Just. Don't. Like. [Insert select complaint in reference to SR here]. So what? Y'know? It's just a movie. :O

As to the shield logo, may I remind folks that this is SMALLVILLE? Geeze, *anything* could happen...

Really in both Birthright and MOS he finshed college the same way.

Well then to be fair you shouldn't base eveything you learn about Superman from Smallvile. Smallville is fine but really far off from what Superman is(meaning the comics because no matter what you always got to draw from the source).

.

I know without a doubt The \S/ Emblem that will see in The Series Finale of Smallville.

{It WILL be The Classic Superman Emblem.}
THIS ONE

For these reasons.

Dichotic (209) - The S Clark made in metal shop class

Hereafter (312) - Jordan Cross vision of Clark's Future. The yellow \s/ on Superman's red cape.

I loved that scene. It was so unexpected and out of the blue, I remember spitting out my drink when I saw it....

The point is (A) Their not using Superman Returns \S/ SUPERMAN emblem(It's going to be The classic Superman emblem.) {Thank God}
(B) Superman is going to have The Yellow \s/ on the red cape .

LMAO!!! Yeah, it sure does. Funky, but humorous. The actual scar \8/ looked better, though that's probably because I'm used to seeing that now. Anyhoo, nice manip! :up:

Ya me too. My hairs exactly the same now. Im tempted to cut it but I cant. Its like walking around with a pillow on your head.
