This isn't necessarily a Tom as Supes manip, but more of a compilation of images of Clark throughout the years, made to resemble the covers of Superman: Secret Origin.

Here's how they look in the comic.

Here's my go at it.

Nice poster probably is routh body used for shadow but its just a shadow here.

nice manips but lets see him in the superman returns suit with the new cape. looks like that's what he will be wearing.

Not that this has much to do with manips or anything, but have Welling and Routh ever met? They both seem like nice guys so I can't imagine there's really any animosity...

You guys know the belt was shown in the preimere, and it isn't the SR belt but the classic belt, but gold.

My bad; I looked at it again and it is the SR belt. Sorry.

Anyway, I found a full picture shot of the costume from Superman Returns:

Comparing the suit from SR with the two shots from Smallville:

Changing and darkening the blue, brightening and making a more striking red, changing the orangy yellow with...yellow, and I don't know but there might be a black band around the neckline.

Okay, please don't tell me that they did all this, and their star IS NOT GOING TO WEAR IT!!!

Oh, he will wear it only in the series finale, but not before. When he wears it, he will be the 6th actor to be Superman after Kirk Alyn, George Reeves, Christopher Reeve, Dean Cain, and Brandon Routh. :super:

Mmmm... I'm gonna disagree and say they didn't make any of the changes you described. I think the first still from SV, the close-up of the costume, has obviously had its colours changed. I don't remember it looking nearly that vibrant in the episode, and, quite frankly, it just looks garishly over-saturated here. I think someone did some editing on that pic.

The second still, of the costume frozen in the Fortress, obviously underwent a fair amount of post-processing for the final cut of the episode. If you remember, the small teaser clips they aired leading up to the premiere included our first look at that scene, in which the colours were much more vibrant, probably being how they looked on set when they shot it. For some reason, they did some heavy-looking colour effects on that final shot, draining the image of most of its color and upping the overall contrast.

The only obvious change that they made is they gave the costume a different material for the cape... something that's actually red on the outside.

Aside from the cape which is merely tuned inside out, nothing else is changed. Not even the belt as some firmly believed. I wish they'd change it back to the classic one.
