why ?

I dont think a decent Superman suit would be tht expensive to tailor anyways. Personally Id love it if the suit has some kind of unique design that makes it 'the Welling suit' and not just the same Chris Reeves suit. Maybe the suit could sport the Earth 2 Superman emblem;

Sorry Pickle, I think the movie costume sucks, and dont want to see Welling in anything remotely close to it. It's just an opinion, get over it.
Usally I would agree with you but the way SV has been going keeping itself so close to the Donner movies(which SR is a follow up too) I really do think that we might see him in an outfit like SR. I mean it cuts down on cost and everything else. I don't want to see him in it but I say there is a good 50% chance we might.

I think it's too early to be talking about the suit anyway, if we have a Season 6, we'll see it in 2007, if we have a Season 7, we'll see it in 2008, and if it just stops here, we'll see it in 2006, lol.

I doubt there will be a Season 7 that is just pushing it. I think this Show can last one more Season. Unless of course there is a "Metropolis" Series with Clark as Superman living in Metropolis working with Lois at the Planet then I see this show lasting. But would Tom want to play the same Character forever ? A Metropolis Series would last a long time. Richard Dean Anderson left Stargate SG1 after Season 8. Will Tom be willing to do the same ?

I doubt theyd air a Metropolis Superman series while the Superman franchaise is going on in the movie theatres. Its a similar predicament as Bruce Wayne/Batman not able to be used in Smallville due to the BB movie franchaise.

Personally I think a Season 6 is still pushing it....it shouldnt go further than that. The show shouldnt be even set in 'Smallville' anymore (that should have ended in season 4) Clark should be beyond Smallville by now.

It would still be costly to put him in the SR suit, since that one was custom made for Ruth, with padding that molds to his body. Welling is also taller and bigger than Ruth too, they'd have to make a custom suit from scrathc for him as well. The only thing they'd save on would be the design, which they wouldnt have to worry about with Reeve's suit anyway

I think that's a great idea. I would like a look that was unique in certain ways just for Tom. It would be cool to have a "Welling suit" that was unique but still honored the more traditional look.

As for the Earth 2 look that's not bad, I just dont know if I'd want to hear all of the whiners screaming about Smallville taking place on Earth 2.....:O

I saw the pics posted by AgentPat of TW lookin' like he's about to take off, and that face looked really useful for a manip! I think, if you want a manip of Tom Welling as Superman to be really convincing, he has to have a very Superman-ish expression on his face (a look of determination/resolution usually works best). AgentPat's pics had just that, so I couldn't resist manipulating the second one.

No the people will not think of it as Earth-2 what really is the case for most people that do not follow the news of the show on the internet people will look at this show as part of the S:TM, SII, SR movie. I mean the more they pull from Donner and use the theme the more they are linking themselves to the movies. Thats what I would be more worried about because the FOS is the same as the movies, the theme is the same as the movies, they use clips from S:TM, the phantom zone is close to the same. So thats what I would be more worried about for SV fans that want to keep things apart then the people that worry it might take place in Earth-2 which is not a bad idea if you think of it because then you can have two Superman earth one (Routh) and Earth-2(Welling) where there you can have an ongoing show but it would be a task in itself to explain that.

Calling Smallville Earth 2 would just be too weird. Earth 2 was where John and Mary Kent adopted young Clark and eventually both died, Jay Garrick was Flash (instead of Barry Allen), No Aquaman, no Jonn Jonzz, definately no cyborg, No JLA...just the JSA etc...

I do think there is some merit to what your saying though becuase the way the new movie is designed; it seems almost like it takes place in an alternate universe (earth) from the Donner movies which is slightly different yet very similar....meaning similar events happened.

Id love to hear a reference in the new movie to maybe some columnist writing 'Superman VS Nuclear Man' (Superman IV) as a work of fiction hes writing (getting psychic imagery for inspiration off Donner's universe). That's how it happened in the old multiverse days of 2 earths occupying the same space and time but vibrating at different frequencies.

Well I dont see them putting in Time & Money on making something Original that will be used for a Minute or Two only.
episodes like spell cost money. this money could been used for the suit.

spell was a waste of time. and this is a fact.

I think a good way for them to be original could also be having Clark travelling around the world for season 6 and also to see more of his training in the Fortress which is supposed to take place I guess for 12 years...
The name of the show I don't think will ever be a restriction for them to have Clark leave because it's more than the name of the town or the show, it's synonimous of who Clark really is, his upbringing, the values his parents gave him and what makes him what he is and of course it's also the nickname that Lois gave him.

It's no fact, it's your opinion. They all had a good time, if you listen to the spell commentary with Kristin, Allison & Erica you'd realize how much fun they had.
