Tom Welling as Superman

Which implies to me, that they are keeping Clark grounded because that's one of the last steps he'll take before he dons the red, yellow and blue.

He wont ultimately fail, because in the end he does fly. It's just going to take alot of practice. Seeing him do this is better than not seeing him even try. In my opinion any way.

Because the show isnt about them learning to be Superheroes. Its about Clark Kent. Who cares if they can fly or not?

Did he say it would be cute? I'm betting that secretly you think it will be cute. :cwink:

Actually, I dont see the problem in her giving him a few pointers. After all, she can fly. Its not like she's going to be holding his hand when they take off, and then she gradually lets go. Well it might be, but I seriously doubt it. MM cant show him, because his physique is different.

And he's been doing it for six seasons, coming on seven.

True, that's what I love about the show. By asinine I presume you mean some of their more wilder plots and new character introductions, however it may not have lasted as long as it has if those elements hadnt been introduced.

I dont think he's clueless, I think he thinks he's being funny. Someone should tell him that his sense of humour is completely lacking.

He tries not to give ANYTHING away, and ends up sounding like a moron in his attempts to be evasive.

I also see this first lesson that Jor-el has handed him as a test to see whether he can lead the world by example. If he succeeds in teaching Kara by his lead, then he'll be ready to take the next step up, city by city, country by country. :super:

The problem is Kara flying around and giving flying lessons cheapens Clark's eventual moment of learning to fly. Instead of having that wonderful "holy crap I can fly moment" he'll be more like the last kid in the class that finally learns to read. Everyone who knows his secret knows he will eventually fly now, so theres no awe or wonder in it anymore.

AGREED!!!

This is exactly how I feel on the subject. after all of these season's we get Supergirl buzzing around town and eventually teaching Clark...completely wrong move IMHO. that definitely takes away from Clark's moment.

They can always kill Smallville & then bring in a Supergirl Series with her in the tights & all in Metropolis :o
Sure, but SV is guaranteed money in the bank. Supergirl isn't. They could go another year and THEN try to spin off Supergirl.

Just to be clear, I don't WANT them to do that. Given how they've been dragging it out the last two years (S6, and now going into S7), as much as I love the show, they probably should wrap it up. That's not to say I wouldn't watch it next year if it went S8. Hell, I'm here till it ends, or I'm six feet under, whichever comes first. But dragging things out with Lex and Lana last year, and now Supergirl this year... meh. I want the show to be about Clark at its heart. I don't want to see any more parallels between him and his cousin, or Lex's excursion with divine intervention instead of all out evil. Enough. Get that launch sequence started and make it the best 12 hours of television EVER. I know it'll be amazing... when they finally get around to it. End it with a shirt rip or flying out of the FOS, or something along those lines. And then bang, the following year, Welling is Superman in Justice League.

I've known of Jayne's posts long before she was popular around these here parts. She's not "new". I gave a stamp of approval for some of the stuff she reported long before anybody else, but she isn't 100% and I don't understand why I have to act like she is?
I didn't say you did, and I didn't say she was 100% accurate. But you're insinuating anybody could say the things she did and be right just because they're slinging poop at a wall and some of it might stick. Reference Muscles.

Her telling us they are going to wait until Wizard World to make an announcement after telling us every week there is going to be an announcement is not exactly breaking news. Anybody could have pointed to Wizard World as the place for a big announcement.
So are you insinuation she's just slinging here, because she did say her husband - who apparently works in the industry too - was just told this today. Which is it? It would be nice to know where you stand. Do you believe she has real sources, but because things change, her information is not always going to be 100%, or is she just making stuff up? Because the way a lot of people over yonder talk, they think she's just making stuff up. I don't believe that for a second.

I didn't say I had a source on any of this Welling information, I was being sarcastic.
I know, hence my accusation of a passive aggressive jab. I know you're not lobbing anything at posters here  but I think Jayne gets a lot of heat for reporting what she hears simply because she adds her own personal opinion to it. She's not a news source, but people are expecting her to act like one. Her views on life liberty and the pursuit of happiness may be a bit skewed (LOL), but that doesn't mean her sources are wrong or that she is lying about being told what she hears. Know where I'm coming from on this?

I am insinuating that anybody can say Today, Tomorrow, Two Weeks from Tuesday, and then say no its going to be announced at one of the said industrys biggest events, yes. My point is, it's not really breaking news when every week it's been said the announcement is coming.

No, I've said it in several of my posts; I believe on The Hype and maybe in this forum, I believe she does have some sort of connection but it is turning out to be quite inaccurate at times. I also have pointed out instances where there is alot of vagueness in her posts. You can't always fall back on, the well Hollywood changes day to day phrase. The fact of the matter is, whether Rob says she is solid or not, he has been much more accurate with JLA news than she is and he does this for a living. I'd go to battle with him on JLA news any day.

I think she is completely bias, but so was/is Rob on some occasions, thats not really the rub. It's not her checked history on the Countingdown boards either, it's just that she is not that accurate with some of her info and is vague on some accounts. Whether it is her sources or her in general, I am not sure. To me I rather trust Variety, IESB, and other sources.

I personally feel people have allowed her to dangle their hopes of Tom Welling as Superman in her hands...You said it yourself Pat, she isn't a news source, but people treat her posts like they are Headline material.

My personal biased opinion, ;), enjoy the rest of this season...don't let it be hampered by something out of your hands, again. They could press that 'Launch Sequence' at any minute, and it will feel like S2 or S3 all over again. And everyone wins with great eppy's.

That's my opinion, and I stand by it.

I agree with what I think you're saying. When they finally acknowledge that, yes, it's time to end the show, it will really become all that it could and should be. That's what I've been thinking for...a couple of seasons now.

OMG...

SQUEEEEEEEEEEL!!!!!

If you ask me, that isn't red enough...

:ninja:

Of course, not knowing any spoilers from Action I have no idea why someone would be giving him a cape....

WOW great pics!

Does this mean the series is shifting towards Tom in JLA as Supes with the intro of the cape?

Must be a gift from Bryan Singer.

Seriously though, he seems to be concentrating hard on something....could it be the yellow \S/ ?

Remember in the glimpse of the future we saw his cape did have one...interesting.

Don't understand as well why he would be given a cape? I guess all will be known in due time.

On another note..WTF with Singer wanting Stamp as Zod? Can't help but think that was some playful talk on set that someone overheard and took wrong.

What episode was that where we see the cape in the future, i'm not doubting you, I know it happened I just don't remeber what episode and I would love to watch it again, thanks.

There's no yellow on that cape, it's all red. It's Spartan red. :D

SINGER WANTS TERENCE STAMP AS ZOD IN HIS NEXT SUPERMAN FILM?!

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/34413

I hope that aint true....his plagarism of Donner may know no bounds....

I thought Robert over at IESB said that MOS is on the backburner; aka...indefinite hold. If that's true, then this is a bogus rumor. If that's not true, then maybe some of Robert's other info is going to turn out to be false too. :csad:

It is, it's been reported everywhere.

The Zod rumor IS a rumor, it's labeled as such. If it's true, fans certainly won't be pleased.

That's why I think this was just something said and repeated out of context.

You can't help but think that since BS and TS both worked on Superman at one point in there careers and with BS being such a fan of Donner's that the subject hasn't come up during filming. I just don't think it was a serious statement.
